Is there a perpetual trophy/cup for the Runner up? if so, I will have to find it and bring it along in two weeks time. Also, as Phil Collins has not entered I will try to get hold of the winners cup, unless it has already been collected by someone.

Hi Keith, No there is no such trophy for the runner up. It will be appreciated if you can get hold of the cup off of Phil. Merv

Cheers Nige,
Just for the record - any reason why there is one game on at 1.45 ? - only there is a 1pm vacancy on table 6 ? :-/

Hi Tommo,
There is a round 2 game between two first round winners at 1pm on table 6. It was just the way it worked out when I did it, with only 8 tables I had to avoid table 8 in the bottom quarter of the draw, which enabled me to plan all the tables to the quarters.
Fingers crossed, I hope it works out ok!!

Hi Keith, It will be appreciated if you can get hold of the cup off of Phil. Merv Hi Merv, I'm not sure whether I will be able to bring the Cup with me next week because Phil is or has been in hospital lately, so I haven't tried to get hold of it, perhaps Jenny Florey (Jiffy) will be able to collect it. Keith :(

........which enabled me to plan all the tables to the quarters. Thanks Nigel, I think it was worth asking the question, as at first 1.45 looked like a misprint for 10.45 - but then I realised it couldn't be as there was already a game on table 8 at that time. It's useful to know also that it's not set in stone that the first five 'rubbers' have to be completed with the 1pm series - allows some flexibility for the future. Regards, tommo

.....journey (Crawley > New Malden) took THREE hours as a large section of the M25 was closed due to an accident last night which blocked both directions. Diverted to Croydon, spent a whole hour in a jam at Kenley. (Apparently M23 way was snarled up at Coulsdon, and A217 had an enormous tail back down Reigate Hill, both trying to accommodate what would have been the M25 traffic.) Return journey was not so bad but the motorway was still shut, apparently reopening tonight so hopefully won't affect people trying to get to the Bucks Open tomorrow. I hope we'll all make it on time, tomorrow - especially those with an early start (not me, thankfully). Those without SatNavs - best to check Traffic bulletins. It was horrendous today.

Well, we're safely back in the paddock now, so what can I tell you about the day ? Great tournament, excellent organization, tables providing the usual 'challenges' but somehow seemed better than last year. Will never tire of that view from the patio of the rolling Chiltern hills - Princess Risborough golf club is an idyllic setting - try it if you've never been.
The usual batch of 'surprises', and this was the last 16 stage in the main competition:
Kevin Tunstall bt Colin Martin Ian Lelliott bt Dave France Nigel Senior bt Mark Trafford Tony Martin bt Steven Sheard Steve Buckle bt Tony Woolvin Keith Sheard bt Richard Wooton Ernie Jordan bt Kevin Hall Ricky Dewdney bt Jim Greensted
Waiting to learn how it went from there. :-/

Waiting to learn how it went from there. :-/ To continue the story then..... ;) Quarter-Finals Kevin Tunstall beat Ian Lelliott Nigel Senior lost to Tony Martin Steve Buckle lost to Keith Sheard Ernie Jordan lost to Rick Dewdney Semi-Finals KT beat Tony Keith lost to Rick Final KT beat Rick So, many congratulations to Kevin on his 4th Open victory this season and a big well done to Ricky on reaching his first Final..... 8-) ;D Gerry Fitzjohn won the Plate, beating Maurice Izzard in the Final, losing semi-finalists were Jenny Florey and Richard Plaw. SirKT also won the high break award with 20,340 and Pauline Withey (4,160) took the Ladies High Break Award. ;) Many thanks to all involved in organising and running the day...... as Tommo said, the tables were challenging, but the location and the warm welcome always make it a superb day. 8-) ;D

Strange things are happening recently, what with Rowan Atkinson, He has a house in Apethorpe, plus he bought a farm near to Thrapston just off J12 of the A14 in the last few months, people don't like him, he is weird, he had a public footpath altered to take it away from his house, and the general opinion is that he's an ignorant man. On BBC Look East, when he left hospital, some of his security guards blocked the camera from filming him, totally weird, can't say that i'd like to meet him, as i've never been a fan. Mr Been, LOL, what a load of Crap. 8-)

Congratulations then to Sir KT on yet another Open win and emulating his great season of 2006. Congrats also to Ricky Dewdney on his first final................semi-finalist in the 2011 Oxon , and now a runner-up: only a matter of time for the natural progression to a 'biggie'. Worth noting also Colin Martin making the last 16 - one to watch for the future. And well done to Fitz (Gerry) on winning the Plate. ;) Good to see the Northants boys enjoying it yesterday, and just one thing to say to the Colemanator: img1.jurko.net/avatar_13683.gif

Just a quickie to say thanks to the Bucks crowd for a brilliant day (you might have done something about the rain though ;D) Lovely scenic venue, good food, brilliant raffle and smooth organisation - perfect.
Well done to Kevin T. and Gerry F. on their respective wins and I must say it was good to see Phil out and about.
cheers Tony
