Portsmouth Bar Billiards Association
NEWSLETTER 1
Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Tallack who has for many years done a superb job in his role as results secretary and to Richard Hockey as secretary for organising newsletters, the AGM and as Hampshire secretary. Our grateful thanks !!
Many thanks to Mary and Brian for organising a very successful Summer League!!!!
Chris and Chris Newson will be organising the winter league with Joyce Mannell continuing to be the Treasurer.
PLEASE NOTE: We have both agreed to run the league for the winter but we cannot get the sheets round to all the pubs in Portsmouth, due to work commitments, as Dave used to.
There were no other people willing to take on this role, so the following needs to be put into place for us to be able to run the league.
We must have at least 1 email address per team so that sheets for competitions and league updates ect… can be emailed directly to each team. It will be that player’s responsibility to print enough sheets for their team and landlord/steward.
We are more than happy to have everyone’s email but we must have at least one.
We also are missing registration forms so we have no contact numbers for certain teams.
Attached is a sheet that requires you to fill in your email address ( or addresses ) and also a contact number for the Team Captain and the pub/club you are playing at.
A stamped addressed envelope has been provided for you to return this form no later than October 17th 2011
All England Bar-Billiards Association

The League will again consist of one League of two Divisions. All Teams playing each other on a “Home and Away” basis. At the end of the season 2 teams will go up, and 2 teams will go down a Division!
We have 11 teams again this year. At the AGM it was decided that the Phoenix Lounge ‘A’ and the Copnor S C ‘A’ would go into Division 2 with the White Horse A and the Copnor S C ‘B’ moving into Division 1.
The League will be made up as follows:-
Division 1 Division 2
L.H.F.A “B” Copnor S.C “A”
Whitehorse B Phoenix “B”
British Queen L.H.F.A. “A”
Copnor S.C “B” Phoenix Lounge “B”
Whitehorse A Phoenix “A”
Phoenix Lounge “A”
Note: Tony Woolvin will compete as a Division 1 player for all individual Trophies.
ALL Team Captains must ensure that your Landlords/Stewards know when there are games on, especially for the Thursday Competition nights! THANK YOU!
As always, all matches from the first half of the season, to be played before the start of the second half, and all matches from the second half of the season to be played by the end of the season!
Reminder – The Black Peg Counts At All Times !!
There are several spare weeks in the league programme. These may be used to play the Competitions and All-England eliminator matches.
It was decided at this years A.G.M, that the League fee’s would remain at £55. This should be paid to the Hon. Treasurer, Mrs Mannell, at or before the H.Y.G.M which will be held in March.
All monies collected at the Charity Competitions, will again this season be “pooled” and given to our “Local” chosen Charity, which will be decided at the H.Y.G.M.
Please find attached the Season’s Fixture List. Thanks go to Tony Webster for the preparation of this.
Also attached are the draws for the first round of the 3 Team Competitions and Entry Forms for the I.K.O, Ladies I.K.O, Pairs and Triples! The Harry Harris and the Jack DeVille Memorial competitions will be looked at later in the Season.
The season begins on Wednesday 12th October and the 1st round of the Automatic Bowl will be on Thursday 13th October. Please remember, that ALL the team competitions are Charity matches and that all money collected be paid to the Treasurer, Mrs Mannell.
