Hi For those of you comming over before the 9th, Jersey and Guernsey are running the Tennerfest from 1st October to 11th November see link www.tennerfest.com/Enjoy Just got home from a work's meal at Christies in Guernsey which is one of the few three course menus at £10. Excellent food and service but drinks bill was approx £15 per head - well, you have to wash it down with something !

Hi For those of you coming over before the 9th, Jersey and Guernsey are running the Tennerfest from 1st October to 11th November see link www.tennerfest.com/Enjoy Well done to H & J in promoting the wonderful choice of restaurants and hotels in both Islands. Will the proposed General Sales Tax in the other Island next year necessitate a name change for this yearly event to the Tenner (+3%) Fest in Jersey ?

This GST is serious stuff. I saw a bit about on our big screen at work, and there were demonstrations going on, people with placards up in arms about it.
The nearest thing I suppose to our Poll Tax riots of the 1980s. :o

Spurs have been drawn to play in Tel Aviv on the Thursday before Jersey which means that I can't get a ticket and so will be a late entry for the championship. I have just booked flights for myself and Neil Higgins.
Presumably the de Normandie would be the best bet for accommodation at this late stage?

Dear All,
What a time to get Postal Strikes :o
If you have left it late to enter the World Championships (which some of you have) them please send me a private message so that you can be entered into the singles competition and we can sort out the entry fee when you get to Jersey.
The Pairs competition is fully subscribed and we have several pairs on the reserve list but if you wish to join that list feel free to do so.
See those who have entered in about a month

Have the confirmation of entry letters gone out yet?

We do not send out 'confirmation' of entries. However, if anybody is unsure if we have received your entry due to the postal stike then please ask as we will tell you. This year, due to the strike we will take entries over the 'forum' and arrange payment on the saturday of the start of the tournament.
Alternatively, you can send me or Graeme a 'PM' and we shall reply accordingly.
Cheers Sean Secretary - JBBL

Q, not sure how this will come out, but here are the singles entries in alphabetical surname order as of 10:00am Sunday 21st October.
The draw will probably take place towards the end of this week, so can members please look through the list and if names are missing please let me know ASAP, could you also check for friends who are not forum members. Apologies if I have "re housed" anyone :P, if your location is wrong, please let me know that also.
Thanks to all and see you soon

You have down a Dick Welburn, as entered, and I know that the person in question is most definitely a lady, so could you please alter the name to Diana Welburn.
Cheers

Dave and Q,
Firstly my apologies to Di she is, as said, most definitely a lady (damm autofill in Excel is what I shall blame, that and not proof reading the file before pasting here). Thanks for correcting the other 2 Q, apologies to you both.
(Have modified first post to reflect changes in case anyone is wondering about Dave and Q posts!!)

Hi Graeme, Good work so early in the proceedings. Please change both Thompsons from WS (West Sussex) to MS (Mid Sussex) - just in case we are suddenly whisked off by Honchair and dressed in pink for his photo blog. :o ;D
Thanks, tommo and margo

Listen Clive I'm just being nice and friendly towards our host...
After 6 months abstinence from the game I'll need all the help I can get... I'll stay off the sherbet and ask for Lemon-aid

Nigel,
Thanks about Jed Long and I'm glad to see that someone has fully read the list. Did know about Darren Ogier but he did enter twice ;D ;D (he is from Guernsey so we will make allowances)
As for Q Beer-Aid works very well or a G & T (no need to worry about the Lemon ;D ;)), would hate to have to disqualify anyone before we got going!
Happy when I lose, happier when I win

Graeme,
You guys do a fantastic job in Jersey to run this tournament like clockwork, and I have noted your message about names being typed in error. I am sure that those who have entered ( and I am not one of them ) can only find spelling mistakes in names, I feel sure that the competition will, as always, be as professional as it ever can be. I congratulate you, and your team on what will be an excellent competition, and i will be back next year.

Dave May I will second that, it is the BEST tournament in Bar Billiards (its also the ONLY tournament I will be doing for the forseeable future) so PLEASE dont ban me Mr Lemon ::)
