Hi Stormin That is some back down you must be scared. It is a little harsh to give someone such a hard time when he isn't even registered to post on the forum. I think there may be an application to join coming very soon though. If i was you i would get out of the kitchen before he arrives. Bring on our next game i can feel (smell) the tension from here. I am shivering in my boots.... ;D ;D But only due to the freezing cold weather at the moment 8-) If we can get more people to join the Forum that is fantastic. Wish some more GBBA committee members would join in and take notice of a few things posted by the more senior members. Get back to work and good luck in your match tonight. ;D

A user saying he was Gary Naftel chose a UID that I should have realised was abusive to Stormin, but he assured otherwise.
I subsequently changed it to 'Guernsey Gazza'.
Guernsey Gazza then made a highly abusive post to Stormin and also to me as a moderator. That breaks basic forum rules.
The post has been recorded, removed and Guernsey Gazza has been banned from the forum.
I am locking this thread and please do not attempt to reopen another on the same subject. If any of the Guernsey players would care to enlighten me on what the history is that makes Stormin's posts to have caused offence I would appreciate it by PM (ONLY). All I can see is a bit of a strong micky take followed by a retraction.
We wish to know both sides of the story

16/02/10 Ex Service 0 Layabouts 5
A predictable win by Layabouts against stable mates with the Layabouts having the opening breaks;
Tel Girard 3170 (Pony tail guy) Skinner Carre 770 John Beck 4710 R. Billienne 960 Paul Dyer 1990 Mick Mason 910 Mat Ogier 5150 Steve Murphy 1120 Norman 4970 Scott Wasteney 970
Closest game was Dids v Mick. Mat got highest score (just) ;) Good friendly night with sarnies provided by Sue Murphy behind the bar. Still the cheapest place on the Island to drink ;D Don't know how they manage it. :D :D :D

23/02/10 Layabouts 3 Giants 2 played at Rangers Club; equal breaks.
Match started late as there was an Island pairs game; shock result :o Mace and Little Legs beat the holders Oggy (Mat) and Diddy on aggregate ::) As Diddy works on same site as the winners he is going to feel pretty sheepish tomorrow morning. :-X On to the league game;
Mat Ogier 6410 Jon van Katwyk 1520 Mat hit form at the right time and opened with 4800. Jon had no answer to this, and was merely a spectator for most of the game.
John Beck 1510 Luke Oliver 2510 Luke played his usual steady game and Becky seems to dislike this table, A low scoring affair where the marker (myself) nearly fell asleep on a couple of occasions due to the lack of excitement.
Paul Dyer 9520 Karl Ogier 590 Diddy had the opening break and Karl was surprised when Diddy was off with just over 1K. However Karl failed to take advantage of his early break back. Diddy was keen to wipe the memory of his pairs loss from his mind and settled down, putting in a very high break. Some consolation, but he was still not a happy chappy. ::)
Stormin 3660 Bob Le Moignan 1900 Bob had the opening break, however did not leave me a massive target to catch. things were evens stevens for half the game. but I eventually got the break back again and it was all over for Bob.
Terry Girard 110 Tom Oliver 3820 Tel managed to draw the short straw again and only managed about 1,000 on his opening break. :-/ Tom bettered that and was in control with half the game gone. In an attempt to gain break back, Tel black pegged, and Tom played a canny game not clearing balls to remain well in front.

2nd March 2010. Layabouts 4 Nomads 1 An unexpected win against a top class team and against the breaks on the high scoring Ex Service top.
Tel Girard 4900 Bob Chapple 4010 The fortunes of this game swung like a pendulum with neither player taking a grip. Bob was looking favorite when he got the break back towards the end, however a nasty kick ended his break and this seemed to spur Terry on to clinch the opener.
John Beck 8190 Baz Warr 530 Veteran Becky proved once again what a great signing he was for Layabouts this season. Barry was off the table early after his break, and John took control and never looked back.
Norman 5690 Robert Chapple 3630. I missed a couple of chances to get the break back early doors, and things were looking grim. However Robert was unfortunate with his one up, to give me the break back with about 5 minutes remaining. Managed a decent break to sneak ahead and make it surprisingly 3-0.
Paul Dyer 3430 Pete Lowe 8150. A superb lesson on how bar billiards should be played by these two excellent players. :o Pete has a good record against Diddy and got his head down, consistently knocking in the break without going past the 50 pockets. After about 13 minutes with 8150 points, he calmly looked at his watch and touched up. ::) Undeterred, Diddy got the break back at once and scored a rapid reply of 3430, playing the rest of the time out. Diddy's third defeat all season, but did not stand a chance with Pete in this type of form.
Mat Ogier 4430 Terry Kenny 1930 This game could have gone either way and Mat took a long time to produce any sort of form. Kane was unlucky to loose a 1,900 break. Mat finally got the break back with about 5 minutes remaining. He made no mistakes this time, and secured the precious 4 points. :P

Breakaways beat Layabouts at Rangers Club. On a night when three players who were out to impress Island Selection committee present all lost, it was Darren Ogier who clinched the win for reigning champions Breakaways. Funny old game..... Match report to follow from Oge. Well done chaps.

Last years top 2 lock horns again this year. With he layabouts having all 5 breaks. The breakaways expected a 5-0 deafeat. The banter started early with the odd text or email between the teams.
Norman kicked off and with just over 2500 he under hit his shot and allowed the old boy roy Le page to the table a litttle earlier than he hoped. Roy sent a small reminder to the selectors. With a 6170 break he touched up for a good win.
Next up came the current no 1 ranked Gary Naftel of the breakaways. Terry girard had the break but broke down with only 1500. Gary couldn't find his form. Maybe concentrating on his much loved arsenal win 5-0. Terry plodded away and looked a winner all through.
Matt ogier then set away to give the layAbouts a 2-1 lead. His opponent ian champion not really giving matt any real opposition. Maybe the pressures of the island selectors or the chance to go top of the rankings after Gary loss. Whatever it was champ blew it.
Paul Le gallez then managed a narrow victory against john beck. With a good solid performance proving practice does pay off.
The pressure was now on. Breakaways kindly let Diddy play last and not have to miss arsenal play. Diddy set off and looked as though he was ready to give out a hammering. However with around 3k he misesed early. Darren ogier (I) had a chance but missed and allowed Diddy another chance. He only got around 1 k though and this was the chance I needed. With the break back and in the flow. I put up just over 5 k and with the time nearly up touched and claimed a great victory for my team as well as myself.
as normal the company was good the food great and the club was nice and warm. Also the takings were very good as diddy helped empty the fridge of cider.

Breakaways follow up the good win on tuesday with a good win againts Baulkliners on wednesday.
Breakaways winning 5-0 Paul Le Gallez 2700 Pete Sanders 2510
Paul Le Gallez set the ball rolling winning a tight victory scoring 2700 with Pete Sanders only managing 2510. Paul was 2000 behind with only 2 minutes to go. Paul manged to get back on the break and play all but the last Ball to overtake pete.
Darren Ogier 8290 Andrew Rundle 760 Next up Me agaist the Ice Man ( Andrew Rundle) Struggling a little on my opening break the Iceman had his chance. He though seemd to rush things a little and allowed me back in. WIth a 3000 break the ball rolled off a little and left me with the only option of sticking. Andy Missed again and i was able to push on a break the 8000 mark to gain an extra point and stuck.
Roy Le Page 9900 Trevor Gallienne 1830 Roy Le Page drew what we though would be the short straw of Trevor. However when Roy STuck on 8800 we realised it was Trevor who had the short Straw. Old Sick note has now won his last 4 with some style.
Gary Naftel 7600 Pete Webb 0 Gary Naftel determined to make up for his loss the previos night set off well. He pegged though and Allowed Pete Webb his chance. Pete though did not bring his game to the table as he managed not to score the whole game. Giving Gary the chance to get back on the table. Gary then settled in nicely and scored just over 7000 before stcicking.
Ian Champion 10110 Barry Osbourne 2410
After Ian had blown it the night before and with his team mates all winning he was determind to win. He set off nicely and played the table with ease. You could see the champy smile return as he clocked up the score. The Smile almost disappeared though when with just over 10110 the ball spun out the pocket and just missed the peg. Barry procceded to play the rest of the table.

The pressure must surely be on (Breakaways) Layabouts beat Ex Service 5-0 Still 3 of us with only 4 defeats all season :D Apologies to John Beck from our team who has played a few less games, but only lost four also ! With a fair wind, we could be the only team to have five representatives in The Guernsey Masters this season.

Well done to the layabouts
Breakaways win 3-2
Champ lost to Pete Lowe. Pete struggled and didn't leave champ much of a target. Champs came back at him to level but missed and Pete didn't make the same mistake. This time he hit a 4500 break before sticking. Champ didn't manage to get going.
I Then had the break Robert Chapple. Knowing that this one of Roberts favorite tables i had to make sure i stayed on the table as long as i could. With a slow and steady 7500 i stuck and left Robert little time to catch my score. He set off well though but came on stuck when he put 4 down. I then score a another 2000 and ending Roberts chances.
Terry Keeny then restored Nomads lead with a win over Paul Le Gallez. Neither player did much with their opening breaks and it became scrappy. Terry though managed to get the break back and knocked in around 4000. Paul finished with just over 3000 but struggled throughout.
Gary Naftel then managed a straight forward result against Nomads reserve Larry Bearda. Gary put up around 2500 and Larry had no response Gary was able to add a little to his score. He was dissapointed though to lose a 3000 break at the end. He though still sits top of the Rankings with only 1 game to go Gary has only lost 2. What a great effort for someone in there first season.
With the score stood at 2-2 breakaways expected to lose only there second match of the season as Bob Chappple had the opening break and a big break table. He though only scored around 2000 to allow Roy Le page an easy target. Roy though could only match Bob Score and let bob back in. Bob now back in manged a 4500 break before missing. With only 5 mins $on the clock Roy had to knuckle down to have any chance. He got the break straight back an managed to play the table out and resign Bob to his 7th lose of the season.

23/3/10 Layabouts 2 La Fontaine 3 :-[ Mace's team returned to their old stomping ground and turned the form book upside down, making full use of their opening breaks. :( Dave Le Maitre, Little Legs and Dave de Jersey (top score of 6,700) :o well above his average score of the season, seem to have wiped out what little chance Layabouts had of catching league leaders Breakaways this year. :-/ Tel Girard and Diddy, against one of his bosses Mace, saving complete embarrassment on the night. After this performance will they return to the Ex Service next season ? ??? Well done lads, and Champs was there to plan the engraving of the league winners trophy in good time for finals night, as they will only have the one winners trophy to pick up, due to the unusual postponement of six-a-side knockout final. ::) ::) ::)

30/3/10 Layabouts 4 Baulkliners 1 (-TG) 8-) Shock result against the breaks for us, albeit against an under-strength Baulkliners.
John Beck 0 (BP) Rodney (Dockerblocker) :-X Smith 5830 Having to get up at 2am tomorrow to keep the boats running, we let Rod play first. Becky struggled to find his form, and Rod put in a slow but surefire performance.
Tel Girard 2480 Supersub Dave (DM) Murphy 1860 Dave dragged in as last minute is one of the stewards at club, Making his debut this season although he is not a stranger to the game, he made things difficult for Tel, who had to pull out all the stops to keep his nose in front. ;)
Stormin 3530 Peter Webb 2240 Webby did not make much of his opening break, however I struggled at first to gain the advantage. during the second half of game I got my head down and kept a decent break to put us into a 2-1 lead. :)
Matt Ogier 4560 Ozzy 4400 The best game of the night by far, although both players gave each other chances to win. ::) Matt looked safe, however Ozzy nearly sneaked it at the death. Oz needed to keep one up for the 200 to win on his last shot, however over hit the break and sunk both. Oggy was the deserved victor. ;D
Paul Dyer 4890 Andy Rundle 1900 It was the end of a long night and the two former teammates met for the second time this season. True to form, the table was behaving oddly and both players seemed to make silly mistakes, each having several visits early on. Diddy managed to regain his composure during the last five minutes and put together a winning break, much to the markers relief. :o Diddy chuffed with his second win over Andy this season.

Get in there
Breakaways win the league for the second year in a row. What a marvelous performance considering they introduced 2 new players this year as Steve Fallaize took some time out and Geoff Ogier moved to the New Rangers Team to help them improve.
Bring on the Knockout final

Tuesday 13th April 2010 La Fontaine 2 Layabouts 3 - Played at Rangers Club (neutral table, equal breaks) Last game of the season for both teams, and with the league decided, it was only ranking points for the Guernsey Masters that counted. ???
Paul Mason 1910 Paul Dyer 1380 :o Diddy had the opening break and pegged at 1,000. never recovered from that, and Mace played a steady game to gain a surprise win. :o :o :o
Davey Richardson 1810 John Beck 860. Becky was very unwell and should not have turned out tonight. However not taking anything away from "Little Legs" he played a blinder :D and deserved his win. Shock on the cards - Layabouts 2-0 down !
Dave de Jersey 1700 Mat Ogier 6980 ;) Mat was hoping for over 11K to take himself above Champs in the rankings, however did not get that target. playing confidently, he cruised to top score of the night, always looking over his shoulder as Jers looked as though he could have turned it on also, but failed to do so tonight.
Dave Le Maitre 2230 Tel Girard 2540. A determined Terry got ahead during the last five minutes, to hopefully secure his place in the last 16 for Guernsey Masters. :P
Pete Goubert 0 (BP) Norman Wilkinson 3660 I kept my opening break, and Pete was unable to match it. Glad to secure the win for the team on the night, although league was already lost. :'(
Congratulations to Breakaways on winning the league title. and to Gary Naftel for most league wins (17) ::) just one ahead of Champs, Oggy and Stormin with 16 each. ;D ;D ;D

After winning the league for the first time in 2008/09 breakaways have managed to retain the title. In their second full season playing from the Rangers Football Club they managed to win by a staggering by 5 points. This is even more remarkable as 2 new players joined their ranks as Geoff Ogier moved on to join the new Rangers team in an attempt to help improve some of the players. Steve Fallaize also decided it was time for a break after playing consistently for over 30 years. Gary Naftel proved to be a sensation winning 17 of his 20 games and ending the season as Player of the year. Paul Le Gallez also joined the team and after a bit of a slow start managed 11 wins from 19. Supplementing the rest of the team of Ian Champion, Roy Le Page and Darren Ogier. The Breakaways have also managed to win through to the final of the Team Knockout where they Play the Baulkliners of Tuesday the 27th April at the Ex Serviceman club with an 8.30pm Start. On Tuesday the 20th April the GBBA held their Finals and presentation evening. Playing the Pairs final. Gary Naftel and Ian Champion of the breakaways played Terry Girard and Norman Wilkinson from The Layabouts. After winning the toss Ian and Gary decided to take the breaks in games 1 and 3. Ian Champion started off well and managed a 9,000 break. In the remaining minutes a few points were scored by each team, Gary and Ian ended up winning by 10,000. Game 2 saw Terry Girard take the break. He started off ok but pegged and gave the break back to his opponents. Gary Naftel then set off to capitalize on his mistake Gary scored around 3,000. All 4 players then had plenty of chances at the table with neither team take a hold of the game. Gary and Ian managed to hold on to the lead and win the second game. Now 2-0 up and a commanding aggregate score Gary just needed to stay at the table as long as you could to limit his opponent’s chances of turning the match around. Gary played a blinder scoring just over 7,000 in 10 minutes before touching up and leaves no time to recover for Norman and Terry. They dually conceded the match. Also played this evening was the single Semi finals and final. In the first Semi Paul Dyer Met Ian Champion. Paul broke off in the first game and only managed a small score and allowing Ian to take advantage managing to finish with 4220 against Pauls 4110. With Ian break in the second game he only managed around 500 before letting Paul In. Paul didn’t capitalize though and Ian managed to get the break back and score 6620. With Paul only scoring 2010. In the other Semi Final Pete Lowe met former World Champion Trevor Gallienne. Pete broke off first but only managed 1780. Trevor then got the break back and managed 10,530. In the second Game Trevor Broke with 9,600. Pete missed and allowed Trevor straight back in and he scored another 6,100. In the Final Ian lossed the toss and Trevor put him in to break first. Ian only managed a short time at the table. After a ball spun out of the pocket it left him an awkward shot which he missed. Trevor then got to the table and soon had the break back. Scoring just over 14,000 against the break and putting himself in a commanding position. With his break in the Second game Trevor proved why he has been world champion 3 times. With a score of 18,700 Trevor had the game won and touched with up with still 90 seconds left to play. Ian conceded and Trevor will now play the Champion of Champion match with Jersey on the 24th April. The Island team was announced for the up-coming Inter insular with Jersey, Held this year on the 24th April at the Shakespeare Hotel. Four Breakaway players have been named Darren Ogier, Ian Champion, Roy Le Page and Gary Naftel as reserve. Also in the squad are Trevor Gallienne as captain, Bob Chapple and Andrew Rundle. Also named were an 11 man strong squad to face England in a Full international on Saturday the 1st May. Added to the jersey Squad are Luke Oliver, Tom Oliver, Mat Ogier and Robert Chapple.
