Guernsey League 2010/2011 kicks off again tonight with the Giants visiting Breakaways with an interesting Layabout V's Baulkliners.
Will be interesting to know if TG can play out the sweet rolling table and could potentially be the higher score this season.
Posts to follow, keep watching.

Layabouts 1 Baulkliners 4
T.G. (Terry Girard) did not play the table out, because he did not get a chance of a shot. His opponent Trevor played the table out with a break of 16,200. Mat Ogier was the only winner for Layabouts with an impressive win against Andy Rundle. Paul Dyer came close to beating Peter Webb, but playing against the break on this high scoring top was always going to be a hard task for the home team.

From this can we assume the Storm is back?
Rangers provided the venue for the highly aticipated match up bewteen Breakaways and Giants.
In very tight encounter Karl Ogier scraped through by only 110 points The low scoring game was down to champ deciding to hoover the table that will teach him. Roy 1370 Karl 1480
As he also lost to the whirlwind Tom Oliver. Using is knowledge of the game Tom frustrated champ with conssistant and patient play. Ian did manage to get the break back but mucked his chance to slips to Number 4 in the Breakaway rankings. Ian 2040 Tom 4510
Paul Le Gallez proved to be probably the most improved player in Guernsey. This left footer Knowcked in a score of 4950 to win against the break. He Couldn't get those extra 50 points though and add to the 5000 club. Paul 4950 John Van Katwyk 3600
Gary Naftel proved again why he is the 2009/10 ranking leader by beating the young pretender of Luke Oliver. Gary the Hurricane Naftel. never moved out of 1st gear to control the game. Any slower we would of called him Tom. Gary 2860 Luke 2180
Darren Making a late arrival could of been mistaken for his father it was so late. Same result though as he beat Bob Le moignan. Sometimes it does work out better not to practice. It was no classic though as the food was brought early to keep the crowd awake. Darren 3540 Bob 1810

From this can we assume the Storm is back? A ring rusty Stormin lost to slowhand (Docker Blocker) rodney smith. He might be tempted to turn out against Breakaways in a couple of weeks time, as long as the gas fires at the rangers club are working and the sarnies are fresh. ???

The Storm might be back for a few games as no where to hang his cue now the shed has fallen down ::) I bet it is the coldest night of the year when we play at Rangers Club - will bring my thermals 8-) Ask your folks about the sweet shop ! In the Pollet - Aniseed were my favourites ;) Have the Number 1 ranked and Number 2 ranked fallen out of love ? When will Champs be wetting the baby's head ? What is the target date ? Lots of Love x Number 5 Ranked ;D

Giants 3 Layabouts 2 played at La Fontaine. Layabouts failed to beat a four man Giants. Terry Girard still on top form beat Bob Le Moignan Diddy very dissapointed not to get a game was gifted the game due to J. van Katwyk (no show.) Stormin lost by 200 to Tom Oliver - last ball game, Tom assisted by Christmas Tree tickling his fancy which he got very close to whilst scoring 800 on the 50's Mat Ogier gutted to have lost against brother Karl. Luke Oliver won the battle of the nippers beating birthday boy Ben Wilding.

No idea whats happening with the rest of the league, web site very slow to update scores.
Breakaways beat Baulkliners on tuesday night. 4-1 at the west legion.
shocker of the night was toy boy roy losing a few thousand by knocking four down on the break only to give Pete Saunders the opening to win the game.
Big news too as Paul Le Gallez turns up late, looks not too interested when he hears he was drawn against Trevor. Gets to the table with an opening break of 6.5k leaving Trev with a difficult shot, then gets the break back to knock in over 10k for the first time.
Well done baldy, just keep it going.
And as for Champ, well Atishooo.

Nice win for the Breakaways ::) Glad you softened them up, ready for the six a side knockout next week Layabouts v Baulkliners at Fontaine - can they find six players ? ??? Will the winners get 2 trophies as the final was not played last year ? ;D Well done to Paul, mind you, he nearly knocked Trevor out of singles last year.

Six-a-side Open Knockout Competition. Also known as the Marie Celeste Trophy; The T.B.C. Cup & The Unplayed Final K.O. ::) ::) ::) Last years two finalists make it through again. Lets hope they can get it together this season.........
Layabouts 3 Baulliners 3 (Baulkliners win on aggregate scores) Played at Fontaine The better team on paper won on the night with a very strong side out to prove a point.
N.Wilkinson lost to P.Sanders Yet another last ball game for me. >:( failing to sink the 100 left my opponent the opportunity to sink the 200 to steal victory away from me. A result that would prove decisive as the night progressed.
Ben Wilding lost to Trevor Gallienne Playing against the break Ben never stood a chance, however his game is improving with every match he plays, during his first season in the league. Showed some skill, so must have been watching Dad Mat. Look out for a much improved player in Jersey this November. ;D ;D ;D
Terry Girard beat Peter Webb 2-0 down we needed a lift, and this was provided by Tel, with a solid performance, without producing any fireworks. A much needed point.
Mat Ogier beat Rod Smith The match of the night, with Oggy flowing and in top form. Managed to peg back most of the aggregate deficit with a comprehensive victory.
Julian Webb beat Andy Rundle The shock result of the night :o Supersub Julian showed good skills to frustrate his opponent who seems to have a poor record against his former teammates.
Paul Dyer lost to Bob Chapple Baulkliners last minute signing for this game, not having played competitively this season opened up with a 5K break. If anyone could reply to this it was Diddy, however it did not go according to plan. A win was required by Layabouts, however Bob held his lead sufficiently to seal the win on aggregate.
Well done blokes - just turn up for the final this year eh ????????
Nice sarnies as usual provided by Mine Hosts Colin and Cindy De Jersey. "The True Guerns."

Distinct lack of league reports from Guernsey this season, so to make amends here goes.......... Baulkliners 2 Layabouts 3 - Played at The West Legion Club. Sweet revenge for our knockout defeat, and the Layabouts thwart Baulkliners title hopes ;D ;D ;D
Rodney Smith 2300 Ben Wilding 4260 :o In his first season playing league, Ben carved out an impressive win against a former Channel Islands champion Rodders ;). Failing to get it right in his practice, Ben showed no nerves when it came down to the real thing. managing to keep his breaks, he kept cool and calm, and proved he has a big future if he keeps this form up :D :D
Trevor Gallienne 10760 Mat Ogier 2680 Mat's opening break of 2500 was never going to be enough against Trevor on his home table ::) Trevor racked up an impressive 10k, whilst also keeping an eye on the footy scores to make sure the bookies did not have to pay out too much money tonight ::) ::)
Andy Rundle 1460 Terry Girard 340 Judas ::) sneaked this one although the scores do not tell the true story of the game. Tel was looking good with a 3K+ break, however lost it, when he should have stuck. Andy was pleased to get back on and grabbed his chance to make it 2-1 for the home team
Peter Webb 2610 Norman Wilkinson 3770 this one ebbed and flowed a bit, although Pete was unable to catch up against the break. I got the break back with a couple of minutes to go, and kept my nose in front to make it 2-2. ;)
Barry Osbourne 2990 Paul Dyer 4790 ;D The deciding game was one sided for the majority, with Diddy failing to get started and fire on all cylinders, much like his much beloved Arsenal earlier on in the evening. However something kicked in ::) with about five minutes to go, having all seemed lost.. Diddy knocked in a 3850 break to play the table out and secure the 3 points and a deserved win ;D

Breakaways get away with a 3-2 victory at the Fontaine v Giants
Darren Ogier beats Tom Oliver
In a tense but uninspiring match Darren managed to play a cool and patient game. Losing his opening break after the ball spun out of the 100 hole and pegged. Tom though was unable to capatilize though and managed around 1000 points. Darren then managed to get the break back and managed around 2200. Darren then chose to play slowly and precisely. Tom was unable to get the break back and succumbed to only his second loss of the season.
Gary Naftel beat Jon Van Katwyk
With both players more interested in the football Arsenal for gary and Man U for Jon there was never going to be thrilling game. Gary broke off well but soon stuck just short of 2000 after under hitting on the 50 pocket. The game embed away and breakaways were 2-0.
Roy Le Page then Lost to Luke Oliver
Roy did not do anything with his break and luke played very well. Marking up some good breaks. As the game continue Roy became more and more frustrated as he fell further behind. He did manage to get the break back though and with plenty of time. Playing off nicely and catching Luke 4500. Then a ball spun out of the hundred and resting on the peg. Roy was unable to move the ball without pegging and handed the game to Luke.
Ian Champion lost to Karl Ogier
It what could of been the match of the night as these two so called big breakers met. Ian though failed in anyway to register any sort of decent break. Karl though was also unable to put in any major break and only crept over the line to claim the points and the drinks!!!!.
Paul Le Gallez beat Bob Le Moignan
Now 2-2 the pressure was really on. In Paul last league game he scored over 10,000 to beat Trevor Gallienne. Surely this is the game that we would see some decent scores. No only managed 900 points. Although scrappy and low scoring Paul was always in control and won easily.
It didn't appear bad but 5 bad games surely the table may need an iron and a bit of leveling now.

1st Feb. 2011. . Layabouts 2 - Breakaways 3 Played at Ex Service Club
Ben Wilding 750 Gary Naftel 4400 Last seasons Number 1 ranked looked in control from the start, making use of his opening break, but struggling to make the 5K mark, settled on a point for the title chasers.
Terry Girard 2980 Roy Le Page 5180 Both players had lots of chances, however it was Roy who settled down to taxi home for a 2-0 lead.
Norman Wilkinson 3590 Ian Champion 7200 Champs now aka "Daddy Cool" ::) seems to love the Ex Service top, and had no trouble in starting off with a slow but steady 5K + I got the break back, however it was too little too late, however between us it was the top scoring aggregate game of the night.
Paul Dyer 4850 Darren Ogier 4510 The game of the night. We have seen Dids get out of some scrapes in the past, however this performance was awesome. With very little time left, he put together another big break to pip Darren at the post, playing the table out and scoring at a very fast pace, which left everybody stunned, especially Daz
Mat Ogier 6290 Paul Le Gallez 630 Paul appeared to get a kick with his opening break, which seemed to set the tone for his performance for the whole match. Mat took control and put together some good breaks. Paul left wondering where his form had gone, after beating Trevor a couple of weeks ago.
So two bonus points for Layabouts, when we thought we might get whitewashed against the title holders with opening breaks and "would be" champions this season.

Layabouts 1 Giants 4 Nice win for Giants, biggest shock being Luke Oliver beating Paul Dyer. Diddy unusually lost a big break, when an over hit ball clipped the 100 hole and span into a peg, however Luke played well and deseved his win. Mat Ogier the only winner for Layabouts.

Breakaways 5 La Fontaine 0
Gary Naftel beat Dave De jersey
Champs Beat Paul Mason
Darren Ogier Beat davey Richardson
Paul Le Gallez beat Pete Goubert
Geoff Ogier Returns for his firt game in 10 months and beats Dave Le Maitre
The scores were all rubbish as the table was rubbish an Iron and a level would do wonders to what was the best table at the Gsy Open in May,
Top break of the night was 3k. Never mind 5 good points to push Breakaways back to the top of the league, ableit playing more games.

1st March 2011 Layabouts 3 Baulkliners 2 (aka The Fanta Five ::)- played at the Ex Service Club - Baulkliners had the breaks. Expecting a real pasting following our poor performance against the bottom team last week, the form book was turned upside down, and this result throws the league title chase wide open again :
Mat Ogier 9330 :D :D Rodney Smith 400 Rodders started off badly, and only managed an opening break of 300 ! Mat got it back and scored an impressive opener of 6500. An out of sorts Rod had no answer to this and was happy to put his cue to bed early, having had a nightmare of a game :'(
Ben Wilding 4320 Trevor Gallienne 3790 ;D :o :o The previous occasion when Trevor played league here, he played the table out. he was expected to do the same, as Mat had proved the table was running well. However TG unusually came of the table early, with about 1,600. Ben, looking nervous, started to put a few shots together, and looked more and more confident as the game progressed. He got out of position a few times, but managed to keep a substantial break which put him into the lead. Trevor got the break back and looked as though he might go in front. However the clock beat him and Ben in his first season claimed another notable scalp, much to the delight of of his dad and the rest of his team mates. Nice one Ben ;D ;D ;D
Paul Dyer 4080 Barry Osbourne 3360 having lost breaks of 9,000 and 6.000 in the previous two games and loosing to players he should have beaten ::), Diddy was in need of a win. In the closest game of the night, it looked as though Barry was going to sneak it. But Diddy kept on going, and eventually sneaked it at the death, to make it 3-0, which was a real shock to the title chasers
Norman Wilkinson 1660 Andy Rundle 9240 Judas was in no mood to continue the rot that had set in, and set about the task with confident play, not hurrying, and sinking everything in sight. After one scare where he left a ball between the 100 & 10, he looked at the clock and realised that with a couple of minutes to go, the 9K break was probably enough to win him the game, he touched up. I got the break back, but had no chance to catch his impressive score on his former home table. ::)
Terry Girard 880 Pete Sanders 7040 Terry did not get much of a look in during this game either, and Pete is playing as well as he has ever done. Seems to like this table.
So another shock result, and Ben was the man of the match without a doubt, defeating a former Channel Islands champion for the second time in his debut season. Way to go ;D ;D ;D

1st March 2011 Breakaways win 3-2 after being 2-0 down to the Giants.
Paul Le Gallez 690 Luke Oliver 1250 Last time out Paul was the only victor for the breakaways and on this performance we wonder how. Couldn't score in a brothel springs to mind. Luke started off steadily however broke down early and giving Paul the chance. Paul though was unable to keep any score for the 1st 8 mins. With both players having many visits to the table but with either unable to score big.
Roy Le Page 1670 Bob Le Moignan 2800 Mr Le page continues to struggle and re capture the form of last season and was unable to catch a relatively low score. Bob started with a steady break and gave Roy a healthy but not unobtainable target. As Roy chased the score though it seemed if the table was causing many problems. Bob played a steady game though and beat Roy comforably come the end.
Darren Ogier 5890 Jon Van Katwyk 4130
Jon broke off and played a slow and steady showing the previous 4 players that the table was fine and good score could be obtained. Jon break did end with 4050 which didn't seem to big a problem other than it took him 9 minutes. With the target set Darren had litte time to mess about and regained the break easily. Now chasing the clock Darren manage a 5500 in around 5 and a half minutes. He managed to keep his score both players had a couple more shots before the bar dropped to begin the Breakaways comeback.
Gary Naftel 3560 Karl Ogier 1240
2 left handers one Arsenal one Spurs could the rivalry be any bigger. Karl the normally relaible big scorer of the Giants team though fluffed his lines. Breaking down early on his break. Gary was given his chance to bring the it back to 2-2. Gary though for some reason could not settle and it required him a few visist to the table before settling on the break. Karl tried in vein but was unable to get the break back and the Arsenal fan walked away with the victory.
Ian champion 5880 Tom Oliver 2360 The nail bitter. Mr oliver so reliable this year for the Giants with only 2 losses to his name. Expecting a big break Ian had almost resigned himself to what would of been his 5 loss this season. Tom though had little table time as he was unable to build any sort of big scores. Ian did have some luck on the way to victory but played well and overall deserved his victory.
Next to visit the breakaways are the Layabouts and after their Giant killing this week. Practice may be required.

Get those heaters on at The Rangers Club Oge, as your team will be cold standing around watching us play. We might not win the league this year, but we can still take a few scalps as the season comes to an end.

Breakaways 3 Layabouts 2
Naftel drops down the rankings as Arsenal drop out of the cup. Breakaways resident Arsenal fan (Gary Naftel ) was in the Nou camp while the Layabouts Arsenal representative was at the Rangers club. (diddy)
Not a good night for either as you can imagine, the air was blue as diddy did his upmost to be heard at the Nou camp, which is more than can be said for the Refs Whistle.
game 1
Steve fallaize 1980 Norman Wilkinson 4240
Norman had a storm(a)in on the Rangers top. Well after an early faulter which the Rangers reserve was unable to capatilise on. Steve only had the 1 chance as Norman recoverd on his second attempt and produced a match winning break with little time left.
Darren Ogier 9550 Ben Wilding 200
After last weeks exploits by these 2 youngster the game could of gone either way. Ben wishing to emulate his victory over Trevor from the week before had the opening break. he mis judged the table speed though and left both balls up on his second shot. This allowed Darren in and he soon cleared the balls and got onto the break. With the table running to his liking he knocked in a 6100 break before sticking, Ben had now concentrated on the Arsenal game and his chances were over as darren finished the game with a little over 3000 break.
Roy le Page 4050 Matt Ogier 3100
Matt not playing his best this season losing his 3rd game to the breakaways. After missing his 1 up on the break and with only 450 points Roy thought this might be a night to recover some form for himself. Both players though were unable to build any decent scores and played a lot of shots at the back of the table. Roy crept ahead and looked favorite, until Oggy secured the break back and was looking comfortable as he passed Roy score before missing a simple shot. Roy managed to get the break straight back and nipped ahead as the bar dropped to win.
Paul Le Gallez 3000 terry Girard 4820
Paul was crowing all night being the smug Spurs fan in the corner, He wasn't smiling long though as his fellow Spurs fan Terry gave him a lesson on accumalating a good score and pushing through to victory.
Ian Champion 3540 Paul Dyer 540
This was not diddys night. he set off as fast as the cider had been flowing and as sweet as Messi and his ball skills. He though had come un stuck late in the second half of the match. This time though it wasn't a second yellow but a white ball between the 100 and 200 hole. On nearly 6000 he pushed hard to clear but only managed a peg. Both Players could then not do anything and the game passed away without incident. Champs managed though to regain the break at the vital moment to run the table out and assign diddys fate.

15th March
Breakaways miss their chance to go top and affectively hand the title to Baulkliners.
Breakaways 3 Fontaine 2
Paul Le Gallez continues his poor run of form as he loses Paul Mason. Paul Scores only his second victory of the season with 4560 to Paul low 280.
Roy le Page puts in a good performance at last. It seems a long time since this Island Player has produced this sort of form. Against his former team mate and the break he wins with 6680 as Dave De Jersey only hits 830.
Ian Champion finally gets over his hoodo of playing at home. For a long time now Ian has got it in his head that the table couldn't score big. Well with 13490 agaisnt the break let us assume that is a nonsense. Poor old little legs Davey Richardson never had a chance after missing with only 300.
Darren Ogier playing one of his bogey players in Dave Le Maitre scraped through. With 11 mins gone and only 200 points up Darren Manged to get the breakl back and settle in nicely only to see the bar drop with only 13 minutes played. Darren had done enough though has he out scored dave 3220 to 1200.
Obviously still Jet lagged from his Barcelona exploits Gary Naftel failed to win and dropped further away from his Number 1 spot of last season. Pete Goubert played a very slow and steady game and crept to victory. Pete struggled with the 1 up so elected to play the 50/30 1 up and it worked a treat as he scored 2490 as Gary could only manage 1790.
