My forcast is a "shower" :P arriving from Jersey on the Friday. Bit of a storm on the Saturday during the Inter Insular. And a fair calm day on the Sunday. Heavy betting at the race meeting on the Bank Holiday Monday.
Jersey's Graham Bisson is the 2009 Guernsey Open champion. He defeated old adversary Trevor Gallienne in a tense final after a superb day of thrilling matches. Chris Tupper won the plate against Robert Chapple.
Many congratulations to Graham Bisson for winning the Guernsey Open and Chris Tupper ("Tubby" as he is now known in certain quarters! :o :-*) who won the Plate..... commiserations to the Guernsey duo of Trevor Gallienne (open) & Robert Chappell (Plate) who both played superbly to reach the finals. 8-)
Another terrific weekend at the Peninsula Hotel, which is a fantastic venue, superbly organised and arranged by Bob Chapple and his very willing team of helpers (too many to name, but sure you all know who you are!) who made sure that everything ran smoothly and on time and that the tables offered a fair challenge to everybody........ ;D ;D
Andy Rundle is the new Guernsey Masters Champion, beating Bob Chappell on Friday evening..... Jersey beat Guernsey 4-2 in the International played on Saturday evening, with Jersey Champion Steve Ahier beating his Guernsey counterpart Robert Chapple.
Some excellent games over the whole weekend in great company, with the inevitable surprises thrown in...... both in the matches and late on the Sunday evening when Nige finally saw that "look" (that women give) ......!! :o :o ;D ;D
Many thanks to everybody that made us feel so welcome, we look forward to seeing most of you again in a few weeks time at the England v Guernsey International and Sussex Open weekend..... and, hopefully, everybody else again next year in Guernsey! ;D ;D

Well Done & Congratulations to Graham Bisson for winning the Guernsey Open & deservedly so, also to Chris Tupper for winning the Plate. Thanks must also go to Stormin & Oge for making us all feel really welcome, cheers for the lift Darren not forgetting Bob Chapple who's organisation was second to none, excellent venue & a first class hotel.
Well finally managed to find time write a few congratulations and thanks.
Firstly congratulations to Graham Bisson on winning the open and Trevor on reaching the final for the second year in succession. I'm sure that everyone will agree that if you didn't win the person you would must want to win was Graham, a very deserved winner and a true gentleman.
Congratulations to Chris Tupper on winning the plate and to Robert Chapple for making it to the final in only his second year of playing bar billiards also for his first 10k plus break (11,340) in the semi-final against Harry to Spider (going to have to watch my back the way his games progressing, a future tournament winner).
A big thanks to all competitors who without there would not be a Open and to the management and staff of the Peninsula and not forgetting Hamilton Trustees Limited the sponsors.
Thanks to Champs and Oggy for the help on the admin desk, it made the day run smoothly and allowed me time to go for a nosebag.
Big thanks to Champs (the light man), Oggy, Stormin and Kane for the help in moving the tables but the biggest thanks to Robert for all the help in the weeks running up to the open in picking up and moving tables (he's made his dad very proud).
It was really good to meet up with old friends and to make some new ones.
For those of you that I don't meet up with in Sussex or November hopefully we'll meet up for a beer this time next year at the Guernsey again.
A really enjoyable weekend. congratulations to the winners and a very big thank you to the organisers. And the weather was superb and the channel crossing was very pleasant and went without a hitch.
Margo and I stayed at L'Eree Bay hotel on the west coast and we had a brilliant room with a balcony and sea view. For anyone who prefers to sail rather than fly, the journey over only takes 2 and a quarter hours and you can book a package which allows you to take the car over for free which allows a chance to see the Island properly - and get kitted up with your duty frees on the boat coming back !
Come on, let's see more give it a go next year and get the numbers up. And anyone who likes their food - well, you won't be disappointed. Roll on next year !
I echo Tommo in congratulating Graham Bisson, beating both of last years Jersey finalists on the way, to winning the Guernsey Open. I also understand he had been quite ill in the weeks leading up to the event making his acheivement even more impressive.
Well done to Tupps for the plate win, also carrying an injury, pumped up full of drugs - its a god job he weren't tested.
Again superbly run by Bob Chapple, with the England team coming over next year I hope the Jersey boys also come again too to make the event even bigger next time.
Most serious forum user 2004/05 You know that look women get when they want sex? Me neither. "Spiderpig, spiderpig, does whatever spiderpig does. Can he swing from a web? No he can't he's just a pig. Look out here is the spiderpig" Homer Simpson, 2007
Thanks for all your support and encouragement guys and gals. A massive thank you to Bob and Robert for all their work with the tables. Congratulations to the Jersey contigent also for coming over in numbers this year. Shame they won the football and rugby in the same weekend ! Also not mentioned in the list of thanks were Sue Oliver (wife of Tom) who helped organise the raffle in his absence. And Mr Statistics Bob Le Moignan who helped througout the weekend. Congratulations to all the winners and those who took part, including the BB WAGS that helped the weekend go with a swing. :o
