Is there another pairing with a bye? Currently that would only make 15 pairings in the next round

Hi all. Charlie and me managed to struggle past Stew and Mick last night. Could have gone either way, went to the last few balls.

Stephen C & Lorin 1,940 & 11,650 Dave E & Kevin A. 3,450 & 730
Had Dave and Kevin made better of the 3 or 4 breaks in the first leg they would have certainly piled on the pressure. As it goes two 5k breaks in the second leg (one for LC & one for SC) secured passage into the Q/F's.

Last 16 22/03/12
Johnny George and Leigh Holmes 10,310

Nervy game, 4k down with 5 minutes to go and yours truly delivered the KO. Very well played Dave and Jim, could of gone either way!

Leigh Holmes + Johnny George v Jim Smith + Charlie Peel 420/4670 - 7200/1320
Charlie played very well in the first leg getting a break of around 6300 to ensure victory at half time. Johnny started with the break in the second, even though he started very well he got caught out by a drift and caught the ball a bit fine but managed to keep his score of 3200. After that all the balls went down the bottom and no one could get the balls back.
J Dunkley + Jon Coe v Simon Coleman + Ian Jellis 5010/2470 - 780/6730
Jason played very well in the first game with a couple of breaks and even though Ian pulled some back Jason + Jon won by over 4000. Simon started with the break in the 2nd but again pinned his score. Jason then managed another 2k break to give them about a 6500 lead. Simon got the break back with 6 mins to go and managed to get enough by winning with the 200 hole.

You have sold yourself short there Si. That break to win the game was one of the best I have ever seen. Considering the table and match position it was remarkable :o Well done mate ;D Jason and Jon were very unlucky to lose a game they would have won 999 times out of 1000. Also can I just say that my mate Charlie played brilliantly in the opening leg with a break to, effectively, win the match ;D ;D

Jason Neal & Andy Chambers v Lorin Clough & Stephen Coleman
Quite similar to our game where as Jason and Andy where 5k up in the first leg with Lorin to break in the second. After getting to 3k Lorin missed a ball round the back of the 30 and lost his break. Jason got back on and scored a couple then it went back round to Lorin and he managed to get the balls back and finish with a 8K break to win the game overall.
Stevie Anscombe & Steve Oram v Ted Dunkley & Mick Haynes
No scores as of yet.

Jase Neal & Andy Chambers vs Stephen Coleman & Lorin Clough
In the first leg Andy took the opening break and looked very comfortable as he passed two, three and four thousand - the break finally ending a little over 4500. Stephen responded with 1100 after which the game became scrappy where both teams had a few attempts but neither could post any significant scores.
The final leg scores were:
JN & AC 6,550 vs 1,410 SC & LC
In the second leg Lorin took the opening break seeking to overcome the 5k deficit and to post a challenging score. Unfortunately, despite looking in reasonable control, After 3k Lorin left a ball 1/3 visible behind the 10 hole. A relatively straightforward hit but Lorin's error was not to allow for a left hand drift and missed the ball. Break lost!
Jason came back to the table and managed to post a 2k break increasing the match difference to over 7k. Stephen then tried to respond but could not manage more than a few hundred after which Andy was also unsuccessful in making a significant score. However, time was ticking away before Lorin got his second turn of the leg. After clearing the balls on the table Lorin attempted to score as speedy a break as he could, knowing that he had approximately 7 minutes in which to make up the deficit.
Despite some uncomfortable moments Lorin managed to notch up an 8k break before it was noticed that neither the bar had dropped nor had the timer (agreed at 17 1/2 minutes) alerted us to the 'bar' point. After referring to the clock it was clear that the timer had not operated successfully. Fortunately, Stephen had been timing the game and it was clear that the time had expired and the bar was then dropped. Lorin potted a further four balls to ensure that the 700 lead was not catchable.
Second leg scores:
JN & AC 2,830 vs SC & LC 8,700
Total scores:
JN & AC 9,380 vs 10,110 SC & LC
Whilst I am confident that I did enough in the second leg to fairly win the game and the result was (very graciously) accepted by Jase & Andy - it was nevertheless disappointing that the timing confusion could have been viewed in two ways:
1) had the timer expired appropriately the scores would have been approximately level and therefore I would have still had to finish most/all of the remaining balls - a different level of pressure
2) the timer not going off meant that I stayed on for a small amount (15-20 seconds) longer which afforded me more time to make mistakes and lose my score
Either way the result was accepted by all.
May I make a recommendation, however, that until such a time as the clock in the table is fixed - competition games should not be scheduled for this venue. This would eliminate the risk of potential problems.
Steve Anscombe & Steve Oram vs Ted Dunkley & Mick Haynes
A rather more scrappy encounter with scores not being kept and pins falling on several occasions.
Nevertheless, the first leg saw the two Steve's string a couple of 1k+ breaks whereas Mick lost a few scores.
Leg 1 scores:
Steve & Steve 3,180 vs 780 TD & MH
The second leg was a closer contest. Both teams seeking to keep scores amid the increasing pressure. With 5 minutes to go, Mick & Ted had all but caught up the deficit before Steve O managed to score a couple of thousand not leaving enough time for Mick or Ted to catch up.
Leg 2 scores:
Steve & Steve 3,270 vs 3,020 Ted & Mick
Final scores:
Steve & Steve 6,450 vs 3,800 Ted & Mick
The two teams from The Fox progress to the next round.

Yeh unlucky to jase and andy. Take lorins break out of the game and they were by far the better players. Both teams had plenty of chances and neither seem to want to take them! Me and Lorin we actually surprised we somehow got through it having both thought we were out, as I'm sure andy and jase must have felt confident.
