Er...... where's the Watermill Tone? It's in Leylands Road, Burgess Hill..... telephone 01444-235517. Nice pub and very friendly & helpful landlord (Gavin) who made us feel very welcome when we played a Captains Cup game there last week. 8-) League matches (Mid-Sussex) are played there on Wednesday evenings....

Yes I was awake despite the effort of the players to bore me to death, at least I was employed picking pegs up.

Hi over 50's fans Peter Payne goes through after Stewert concedes due to illness, must be shock after his recent hastings score ;D regs cs I'm sure that the Competition Secretary would grant an extension to allow them to play the match if they wanted to..... it's always better to play a game than win (or lose) by default. ;) Perhaps Stewart has a bad back after his excellent score over in Hastings.... :o ;D

Hi Colin,
Those are excellent scores for the Watermill table of late. It was a good table a season or so ago. Looks like it might be back to its former ways. Good stuff and well played.

H Hi H, spent the first part of the night at the Windmill nearby (by mistake) realised there was something wrong when i coudn't find a table to play on ::) anyway back to the watermill, nice quick top, easy break, shades of the Fish at the bottom. regs cs

I do wish that we still played the open singles and doubles in pubs around the county. Support the landlords and all that.

Yes the top was very good. Friendly pub as well. I do wish that we still played the open singles and doubles in pubs around the county. Support the landlords and all that. Although I agree with the principle that venues should be supported.... I can't see how it would be feasible to try to fit an additional 100 plus matches (a total of 110 matches were played at the Sussex Comps last weekend) into a diminishing number of venues around the County, especially as many of the players that do support the Sussex Competitions play in more than one League and, in most cases, from different home venues. ??? The logistics behind trying to find "neutral" venues for all of those matches would be a total nightmare for the Competition Organiser and players would then have the problem of finding a mutually agreeable date to play the games on nights that didn't clash with either their own League nights, or League matches that would be due to be played at the selected venue.... ::) Playing the smaller Sussex Competitions (Mixed Doubles, Captains Cup and Over 50's) at venues works to a certain extent due to the number of entries into these competitions, however I can think of several players who stated that they DIDN'T want to enter these due to the travelling around and having to find another evening to play these games.... :'( For me, the existing format of playing the Main Competitions over one weekend is the best solution.... and is certainly something that I enjoy playing in. 8-) ;D

These comps are great, i understand that the event diary is full but why not add an under 50s comp which will then enable ranking points to be given, which will surely add interest and increase table usage throuout the county which can only be a good thing regs cs

then I propose to have the AGM in Eastbourne ;D ::) :-* No problem for you to have the Eastbourne League AGM there if you want.... :P ;D The Sussex AGM has recently been held fairly centrally within the county which is why we used United Services Club in Haywards Heath last year, however there seemed to be very little interest in the AGM from Leagues to the North of the Downs last year so we may look to hold it in Brighton / Worthing this year as that is where the majority of people seem to attend from.... ::) :'(

Clearly Geography isn't one of your strengths Gandalf as neither Haywards Heath (where it has been held for the last 2 years) or the Hurst Club (previous 2 years at least) are in Brighton or Worthing.... ::) However, given that you are suffering the after effects of the dentist you are completely forgiven and have my full sympathy.... :-* ;D ;D ;D

Neil Higgins beat me 2-1 at the Royal Oak tonight.
Many thanks to Barney for scoring the games.... and the Royal Oak landlady who ended up having to climb up on the table (which was fortunately covered) to hang the tables lights back up as they had been taken down to enable people to watch the rugby internationals over the weekend.... :o 8-)
