A date or a 'date'? Not sure this site is designed to help with the latter!! 😄

Hi Phil
Finals Night is on Saturday May 12th at the Marlborough club, entry is free this year and Denis and his band are playing after the matches have been played, should be an excellent evening all round!
Good luck with the date!! ;)

Just to confirm that Wallingford Finals night is being held at The Marlborough Club on May 12th ENTRY IS FREE! It would be great to see some of the Oxford and Reading league players there even if they don't play in the Wallingford league. The club are planning to put on a BBQ and Denis Atkins and his band will be playing after the matches and presentations have all been done.

I would have come along but I'm going to an "old codgers" 70th Birthday Party! I'm sure it will be a great night for you all and good luck in your quest to win the "Men's Singles" for the 1st time. It could be a fantastic "double" if you beat your Dad in the "Off the Spot" Semi Final and then go on to win the Final itself. 8-) PS I hope it isn't "Double Booked" this year. :o Keith

I've just noticed that one of the play-off S/F's 1st leg's is on that day, so, IF Oxford Utd manage to finish 7th they will play the 4th place team at home first. I hope you don't put a certain Mr Gordon on too early IF they make the play-offs because I know where he will be! ::)

Hopefully Ian won't be in too many finals!! ;)

Who played in the Ray Sturgess challenge match ? Was you asked to play in it then Keith? Perhaps I should have put "if asked" but Mark I think it's anyone that's there on the day. Wasn't you at the Finals then ? If I remember right I have played in it, against Terry Alder, I think.

The winners of each competition are highlighted above, congratulations to each and everyone of you! It would be really good if next year we could try to organise 2 teams to represent Oxford and Wallingford ahead of the night to give the competition more standing and to help the evening run a bit mor smoothly, many thanks to Jenny Florey for Captaining Wallingford to victory and Dave Tooke and Bob Pincombe for sorting out the Oxford team, thanks to all those that took part in this competition. My thanks go to all those involved in the organising of the evening, Arthur McIntyre for organising and running the BBQ, Dave alder for delivering the tables and Denis for helping him unload them (even though he only flew back into the country on Friday morning!) Denis Atkins again and Chris Bateman for setting up the tables, Denis and his band for a great show at the end of the evening. Sue Atkins for sorting out all of the trophies and raffle prizes, The Marlborough club for a great venue, The Mayor for presenting all of the trophies to the winners and runners up together with his able assistant Terry Alder! Mick Shephard for his assistance in producing the programme and a special thanks to Pete Welch for his continued and vital support in sponsoring the League and the tables on Finals Night. And lastly a thank you to all those that came along to support the league on the night!

I'm curious, I played in the Wallingford league for a few years and was wondering if I had ever won your Mens Singles (don't think so) I do remember playing KT in the Mens & Off The Spot final in the same year (can't remember the year) and if I remember correctly I beat him in the OTS and lost in the Mens that year ?
