League Champions humbled again.
Not really woe is us, as we've got used to being a bottom-half-of-the- division team and now expect to lose each week !
Hurstpierpoint SC 3, Handcross 'Z' 2.
BB Reaper 5630, MrMike007 1350 Lorraine Hall 3880, Alan Downs 3260 Rob Hall 1550, Barry Timson 4490 Roy Wells 3440, tommo 5350 (after getting zilch in 1st 10 mins) Pete Hall 4650, Johnny Haigh 3770
Excellent grub, prepared by the BB Reaper - Chicken Kievs and a good variety of tasty sandwiches. Good company, and all-in-all a most enjoyable evening in spite of the result.

Food at Handcross reasonably good!!
Crackers, cheesy biscuits, 2 types of ham, corned beef, cheddar, red leicester, tomatoes, cucumber and silverskin onions.... all of it quite tasty.
Oh yes, there was a match as well, . . . . . . We beat the Windmill 3½ - 1½, the last game being a draw, as usual the company of the opposition was superb

Saints 2 Greyhound 3
Good food and a pleasant evening.
We won the first three then I had to play Shaun against the break - he was the player of the night with a big nearly 7000.
He had set the table up the day before but unfortunately the incompetent idiots from Tarrats had come in and messed it up as usual.

Just to add to my previous report, Windmill had three stars last night.
Rodney Storr - got Windmill's best score of the night, but lost. nevertheless he played exceedingly well and shoud be playing more regular - COME BACK ROD
Lynn Storr - In my opinion is in the running for most improved player, she settled down, played a sensible, accurate game and VERY nearly did enough to beat John Lear
Jenny Arnold - played a cracking game, led Chris Kirkham for a long time, Chris came back to sneak in front just before the bar, but she pulled it back to draw the game. The most exciting game of the night.
Well done all 3 of you in particular, and the whole Windmill team for their excellent company

The young lady who played last game was Jenny Arnold who played very well & has a very infectious giggle :) :) :) :) I would also congratulate Andre who settled down & compiled a break of 2800 ish. Food did make a change but there was a shortage of crackers on the home team plate :'( Ian.

Roys report. Greyhound maintained their position at the top of the table with a win away at Saints. The visitors took the first three frames and the match with wins for Paul Goodwin, Chris Watson and Neil Burchell. Saints skipper, Shaun Morris, stopped the rot with a big hit in the fourth and Chris Little grabbed an important point when taking the last. Saints stay in forth place in division 1. The A Team took over second place in the Premier with a home win over The Windmill. The home side’s Dazza Skinner and Bernier Lawrance took the first two legs. The third was shared between Chris Kirkham and Jenny Arnold. The home side’s skipper, John Lear, won the match by taking the fourth leg before Andre Layzell won the last. [edit: Roy hasn't read the order of play, Chris & Jenny played LAST]Hurst Club crept a little closer to the Zeds after taking them on at Hurst and winning the tie. A big hit from Kevin Hall took the first and an exciting finishing break from Lorraine Hall took the next. Barry Timpson pulled one back for the visitors in the next and a big hit from Clive Thompson saw the match tied at two all. Pete Hall played well to take the last leg and an important win bonus. The Watermill kept fourth place in division 1 with a win over their opponents from the White Horse. Chris Nikolak and Adey White took the first two legs for the home side before Colin Mansfield stopped the rush by winning the third. Dave Ingram hit big to make it all square only to see Kim Stenning take a confident last leg and the match. Things didn’t change at the bottom on division 1 as The Droops played host to the Vees. Colin Humphrey comfortably the first leg for the home side and Adam Bateup a close second frame needing to sink the last red ball, which he did. Trevor Appleby put in his side’s best score to open the Vees’ account and a rare appearance by Sparky saw the match level at twp legs apiece. The deciding leg went to Richard Jeffrey to put the Droops a couple of points ahead of the Vees in the table.
