Excellent win, BB Reaper.
The Zed's recovery continues, with a win in a close match at Clayton & Keymer RBL on their super 'new' Jelkes table supplied by Richard Wooton & Co.
C&KRBL 2, Handcross 'Z' 3
Ted Stringer 770, tommo 4050 Derek Taylor 3200, MrMike007 2040 Jenny Edwards 1530, Alan Downs 1900 Peter Edwards 1920, John Turner 1880 Dilly Williamson 1650, Barry Timson 2170
Okay, the scores weren't brilliant, but nobody - but nobody - got two balls in from the break. I think it had been set up okay originally by Richard & Marcus, but then apparently while it was bedding into the carpet it started going away a bit and the locals tried to adjust it and only made it worse. But the table has tremendous pace and it won't take much to tweak it up and make five-figure scores a possibility.
Two of the games could have gone either way - Jenny lost a break of 480 towards the end which could have decided in her favour if she had kept it, and Peter had to pot the last ball into the 200 hole to deny John Turner. But a bit of excitement - that's what the game's about ! ;)

Handcross SC 3 Greyhound 2
A fairly close match which could have been 4 1 either way sees up slip back towards the pack.
Paul Goodwin has only just got access to this site and would like to thank all for their good wishes last season during his illness. He is fine now despite losing this week.
I thought Bernie would have posted this result but he is probably thinking about the Lewes league food now he is a player. This week we had Chilli, Chips, Sausages and Sandwhiches - no wonder I am a bit too round.

That's opened it up a bit. Yes I'm surprised that Bernie (as a Tottenham cockerel) hasn't been crowing about a victory over the league leaders. :o Hope Paul takes to the Forum and gets enjoyment from it. I'm sure he'll have interesting stuff to contribute. Know what you mean about feeling bloated,Trevor: Margo and I bought a chinese takeaway on Tuesday which was too huge to consume in one sitting, so had to be spread over two days. Had to let a notch out on my trouserbelt this morning ! ;D

To be honest Tommo, I cant think of much to say about last night, I'm quite embarrassed to have 'welcomed' our Greyhound friends to our 'wonderful' club...
Tables all taken by either dart teams or a 'supporter' of our team, atmosphere abysmal, yes we won on the night but from my point of view hardly enjoyable and not a good advert for Handcross.
Thank you to Trevor, Peter, Neil, Paul & ?? (I cant remember his name)?? - sorry, who were all, as usual, great company. All I can say is sorry.

Well the good thing from the Greyhound's point of view is that they've played both their games away to our teams and won't have to visit Handcross again this season. 8-)

Unlucky to the CKRBL
Yes the table was lovely when we left it and the break went in clean as a whistle, apparantely the locals twisted the whole leg instead of just the bottom bit.
If it needs leveling I am happy to pop in and get it lovely again.

Might be a good idea, Richard. Not that the team are incapable of doing it themselves, they were trying to level it as we walked in. It was playing slightly downhill with a bit of a right-hand roll, so just probably needs the back right-hand leg up a turn and take it from there. Nice-looking table, it's going to be a cracker. Is it a recent acquisition ?

It certainly is. Cloth is pretty much brand new and tight which is why it is fast. Funnily enough I said when I left that the back right leg might sink a bit as the carpet was thicker, it looks like that is the problem.
Might have to sign up as a sub for the CKRBL to get a go on it

I have to say thank you to Darrell for making the match safe before I took my familiar 5th place on the card. enjoyed my game if only the right hand 5o wasn't so whippy I could have beaten Neil having got the break back in the closing minute instead I had to pot the 200 to lose by 100 !!!! :'( Congratulations Neil as I say I enjoyed the game. Ian. :) :)

From Roy.................. again Greyhound had their lead cut after losing away to second place A Team. Handcross got off to the best possible start with Chris Kirkham and John Lear winning the first two legs. Peter Burchell got one back in a close third leg before Dazza hit big to win the fourth and the match. Neil Burchell grabbed the last in a very close game to keep a healthy five and half point lead at the top. Plough kept in touch with the A Team after a home win against the Vees. They also have a game in hand over the rest that will be most important. The Vees took the lead with a win for Gary Foster before Keith Potter took the second to make it all square. Mark Webber hit big to put Plough in front only to see the lead disappear when Ros Appleby won the fourth. The decider went to the dependable Steve Whyte. Zeds played away at Kleiners, both teams needing a good result. Clive Thompson put the visitors ahead and Derek Taylor took the second leg to make it one apiece. Alan Downs put the Zeds back in front only to see it cancelled out with a win for Peter Edwards. All games had gone with the break thus far and the pattern remained unchanged when Barry Timsom won the decider and the match. White Horse were looking for a result on their visit to Hurst in a hope to get further ahead in division one. They started very well, taking the first 2 games with wins for Dave Ingram, who hit the best away score so far this season, and captain Brian Coleman. Three Halls then went to town and won the remaining legs and the match to maintain the gap between them and the Zeds. The winning Halls were Kevin, Rob and Lorraine. A dogged away win at the Watermill keeps Saints in tough with the division one leaders. Watermill’s Adey White and John Willis took the first two but wins from Matt Geal and Shaun Morris brought it back to all square. A remarkably low scoring last leg went to Chris Little and Saints went home the happier side. The Droops entertained the luckless Windmill and dished out a whitewash that put them level on points with Watermill, whilst the Windmill are now well adrift and the bottom of the premier. No match details are available.
