Congratulations to Milko on winning back-to-back Opens (Surrey and now Sussex). Who can say he won't now make it a hat-trick at Kent, more or less the only one he needs for the full set? ;)

Thanks for all the above messages of congratulations.
With all the good players about these days it feels great to win back to back Opens and will be trying my hardest to make it three by winning my first Kent Open next month.
This was a very proud and emotional moment for me to play my son Steven in the final of an Open Singles tournament and very pleased to win it for the fourth time, although there was a feeling of sadness for him afterwards (only lasted a short while ;)) because this is the third consecutive Sussex Open final that Steven has finished as Runner-Up. That is still a great achievement for him because this is one of the biggest and hardest to win.
May I thank Jean, Alan & Co on another well organised event and Jean also kept the schedule close to time by making sure all the matches had markers later on by going round with the microphone asking people to mark. (Though she failed to spot me once because I was hiding behind my cue ;D)

I wonderd what it was you were hiding behind! :o Although not as bad as the 2 people i found hiding behind the wall outside the Ladies. They didnt get away with it though lol
Seriously though well played although i think your quarter final was a tough match lol. It must have been hard to play against Steven in the final.
I hope everyone had a safe journey home in the torrential rain. I know it was torrential as i have never seen myself, alan, dave alder and Kev Hall looking like we'd just been swimming after we had loaded the van.
I must say a big thankyou to Alan. Hes not on Sussex Committee but always helps out. He was there 2.30 on Friday to help set up tables, early Saturday checking tables and helping me run 2 competitions and all day Sunday having me shouting orders what to do on the computer, as unusually i was playing a lot of the time. And then when Dave arrived on his own, dismantling all the tables and getting them loaded on to the van. Id also like to thank Kev Hall for his help on Friday and with his help at the end of Sunday with the tables.
I also have some pictures but need to work out how to put them on here. Might have to wait until back from holiday as am really busy this week. Unless of course someone can do them for me :-*

Well done Keith and commiserations for Steven, maybe next time?
Thanks to Jean, Alan and everyone else working hard over the weekend, we hope the U30s will continue on for many many years (9 more entries left for me woohoo :D) and is nice to see even younger people than myself such as Daniel and Joe who are not afraid to give it a go! Running it along side the Masters was a great idea and shows it will be a great day later this year with the Grand Prix/National U25s.

The Guernsey Open being the only one where an Oxon player didn’t win or make the final BUT FOUR of those players that have been finalist's didn't take part in that event! ::) The run down...... Oxon 8 Guernsey 2 Sussex 2
