If anyone was coming along to see the TV filming this sunday then hang fire. I`ve just come off the phone to someone from Channel 5 and they cannot make it due to lack of staff. They are filming somewhere up north and can`t make Reading. He informed me they still want to do it so watch this space :-/ Will be speaking to him again next week

Fair point Craig, what I meant was they could come down for the County championships in two weeks if they still want to film in Reading. Initially they said it had to be filmed in either August or September. If not Reading, they will have to travel south to film the World champ ;D ;)

well what a day well done to ian lelliot on winning his first open beating mark brewster in the final losing semi finalist were dave ingram and phil collins losing 1/4 were nigel senior, tony jenner, keith lewendon and curt Driver An enjoyable day - some great bar billiards, excellent tables (except for a couple that Sav hasn't got round to refurbishing yet), the programme went to schedule, and a day spent in good company with some good laughs. Highlights - KT v KS 19,000 apiece, KS just falling short needing 640 with four balls left. And of course Ian Lelliott winning his first-ever Open in his fourth Final appearance. 8-)

Well done to Ian on his first win, always good to see young blood coming along!!!!!
Thought the organizers did very well in difficult circumstances, pity about no shows, but monies should have been collected in advance so should not have been a problem to the monatery side of things.
Hope Dave having a well deserved break, nearly impossible for him with his commitment to the AEBBA and the table deliveries etc. Lets hope these comments do not cause him to rethink his position because I cannot imagine any of the moaners stepping up to the plate and offering their assistance.
I mad the quarters, yes really!!! and was chuffed to have done so, and wasmore than happy with a trophy to recognise my achievement. Think plenty of apologies made early in the day about missing trophies but perhaps some announcements as the day progressed would have been in order.
It is a pity these arguements take away the achievements of those who have won, I am sure some of these problems will be rectified once Dave is home and think Phil and Janet did exceptional well when all sort of things put pressure on them.

Agree played table one and it left Dave and I scratching our heads, amoung a few choice words. Lucky both of us the same and treated each other with total respect understanding neither of us wanted to win in the manner the game was won, all down to who managed to device a way to stay on.
Sure as Phil says this has been difficult in the past where it was positioned.

tommo if you think the tables were great then you did not play table one, it was unplayable even k t could not plat it I think you'll find I only spoke as I found, Dave. Sounds as if I was lucky in not having to play table 1. :-/ Guys'n'gals, there is a thread going here where you can give your assessments of any of the tables you played on:barbilliards.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=nationaltables&action=display&thread=13395

Well said Tony!
I couldn't post before because of the internet (slow) and bad signal strength at times on my laptop while on holiday but I was very pleased to read that Ian Lelliott had won his 1st Open, so I would also like to say well done to him and unlucky Mark.
