Hi there
I used to play bar billiards frequently for several years in my youth, when my local had quite a good table. Sadly, the table went, and finally the pub closed down. I rarely come across a bar billiards table these days, but am really pleased when I do, and always have a few games with whoever I am with.
I came across your website recently whilst staying in Rye, and found in one of the county forums a link to the google map showing venues with a BB table. This was really helpful as it pointed me to the Queens Head in Rye where I had a good few games with my good lady (who I'd introduced to the game a few weeks before when we chanced upon a table in the Unicorn in Canterbury). So many thanks for that. However, the map looked pretty out of date: for example the Rainbow Trout in Broadoak near Rye no longer has a table, nor does the Angel in Thames Ditton, Surrey.
I wondered:
1. Is there a more prominent and/or more up to date table location guide available somewhere? 2. Would it be helpful to update you when I find that tables have appeared/disappeared in pubs I visit, and if so, how best should I do that?
It may of course be that the answers to these questions are obvious to other users of your site, and I am just being dim, in which case apologies.
I am a fairly regular contributor to one of the pub review websites, and I always give a plug on the rare occasions I find a BB table in one!
Grateful for any help, and Happy Easter to you :)

Hi and welcome to our forum.
You have the privelege of viewing the only maintained list of bar billiard tables in the country. It is far from being 'Pretty out of date' and has been a tremendous labour of love from two members of this forum.
However in non league areas we have no feedback apart from internet sites and the occasional visitor. If you visit any of these pubs and find the map incorrect then please let us know, but I am afraid if you want locations then you will not find anywhere else that has put the time and effort into producing such a map.
Why not join?
Best wishes,
Chris Saville (Co-Chair of this forum)

Thanks for the welcome Chris.
Having just answered both of my own questions by finally finding the discussion thread with 5 pages of map updates, and the link to the website with the map itself, and then someing back here to find your reply, I am feeling extra dim now!
I can see a loads of effort has gone into this. There isn't a league in my area (NW Surrey/SW London) as far as I'm aware so I guess it won't be as up to date as others. I would like to join, but have a sense I ought to find a table first! So I'm just off out to recce a couple of others from the map...will let you know what I find.
Thanks again

Hi Old Blue,
Welcome from another co-Chair.
Any information you have for us will be received in good heart and acted upon. You will see that the two non-venues have already disappeared from the map. :o
The map of course can only be as up to date in accordance with the information we have to go on. In the current climate of pubs closing by the week I am sure that there are many others no longer applicable which we don't know about.
Have you misunderstood Chris's earlier comment ? We are not pushing you to join a League to play in per se, but it would be better all round if you could apply to be a member of the Forum rather than posting as a guest. This will enable you to post comments in some areas that you are able to visit at the moment but without the update facility.
Regards,
tommo

Thanks Tommo
I have now applied to register on your excellent site
I did a recce of a couple of others last night:
The Bell in East Molesey no longer has a bar billiards table. The barmaid wouldn't confirm or deny this, on the grounds that she didn't know what one was, but I was able to reassure her that she would probably have noticed if she did have one.
The Jolly Coopers in Hampton still has one, however, so you've helped me find one in my local area for the first time in years. Many thanks.
I also noticed the map point for the Barley Mow in Shepperton is a little awry, being in the middle of the golf course in Coombe, whereas it should be in Shepperton which is 8 miles or so to the west and slightly south.
Best regards
OB
