Hiya there, ;D
There is a forum for just about everything on the interweb
My question is this, do any of you guys know anywhere in Bristol that I can play Bar Billiards in? Ive moved back to the West Country from Norfolk where I got a taste of the game in my local pub after years of Snooker and Pool fun.
Id like to play more but google and the local forums are not really turning up any results.
Anyway thanks in advance for the help
Kind regards

Hiya Guy,
At the last count there were five venues that we knew of in Bristol, plus the Railway at Yate:
Commercial Rooms - non-League - 45 Corn Street, Bristol BS1 1HT Highbury Vaults ! ! Non-league ! ! ! ! 164 St Michaels Hill, Bristol, BS2 8DE The Avon Packet ! ! Non-league ! ! ! ! 185 - 187 Coronation Road, Southville, Bristol, BS3 1RF Tel: 0117 987 2431 The Alma Tavern ! ! Non-league ! ! ! ! 18-20 Alma Vale Rd, Bristol, Avon, BS8 2HY 0117 973 5171 The Ship ! ! ! non-League ! ! ! ! Down Road, Portishead, Bristol, Avon BS20 8LF
Slightly further out, we know of some more in Weston-super-mare and Bath.
The Avon Packet (above) is probably your best bet, as there has been a recent 'sighting'.
Good luck in your search for somewhere to play - and let us know how you got on !

A friend of mine who lives down your way sent me through this info about Bar Billiards in Bristol and Bath:
"I was in the Commercial Rooms the other day and saw no sign of a table. That's not to say it isn't tucked away somewhere though, it's a big Wetherspoons place. I'll ask next time I'm there. The Avon Packet and The Highbury Vaults definitely have tables, the former isn't the best quality, the balls roll off line. The latter's table is lovely, as is the pub. Definitely go there first. I don't know anything about the Alma Tavern and The Ship. In Bath, currently the only table that I know of is the one at The Bell, but it's worse than the one at the Avon Packet, as DJs usually stick their equipment* on it at the weekend! The table at The Devonshire Arms, Bath is no longer there. *By equipment I mean mixing desks, records, obviously."
Hope it helps.

Avon Packet, nice pub, worth the walk from the centre, bar billiards table present and correct plus good jukebox!

If anyone is looking for a recent update, there's a table in good condition in The Inn on the Green, at the top of Gloucester Road. It's a great boozer too, with nearly a dozen hand pumps.

Thank you, Ben, yes we're always looking for the latest information.
I will add the Inn on the Green to our list of tables to be found in the Bristol/ Avon area, and request inclusion on our map of the UK.
Any news on the venues listed earlier on this thread ?

I'm 99% certain the Commercial Rooms doesn't have a table. Maybe it disappeared when it became a Wetherspoons?

Only a small update, but the table in The Highbury Vaults on St. Michaels Hill is still present. The cloth is quite rough now, but it's perfectly playable for a casual game. Great pub too, the sort of place that feels like it hasn't changed in sixty years.
