would be useful to us to be given a maximum distance from the cup to peg, in Eastbourne its 4-6mm , don't want to start off on the wrong foot regs cs

Sudbury rules only specify that "Pegs shall be placed (the baulk line side) to cover the 200 hole, the 100 hole, and the two 50 holes."
For the distance we have to go to All England Playing Conditions Rule 4: "The black skittle shall be placed on a spot, the back edge of which will be a 0.6 cm from the front edge of the 200 hole."
So to fulfill the requirement of 'covering the holes', the 50 and 100 hole spots should match your legal 200 hole spot, ie the closest edge of the spot to the 200 rim being 0.6 cm away.
By the time you've slapped your mushroom on, it should be 0.4 cm away.
But hey ! No need to turn up with your Vernier - so long as the 50s and 100s look the same distance away from the hole as the 200 does for a normal league game, that should be good enough.

Can you please avoid needless quoting of previous posts when a simple reply will do. It seems that there's only 3 people posting on here and I think we can all follow whats been said without repeating it all the time ;D ;D

I wholeheartedly agree with you Ian.
People quoting huge chunks of text unnecessarily has always been a pet hate of mine, and when I was a Moderator I used to indulge in a great deal of tidying up to make the threads more readable.
Would be great for a Mod such as yourself to have a go at doing the same on this one !

That comes later in the year with an Interleague challenge ! Meanwhile we're one little happy family, and you're part of it ! 8-)[/quote]
how about 28th August at the Bull as it might build some bridges and lead to a few of us playing in the winter league in horsham....

I was going to suggest Sparky's United Services Club (Haywards Heath) as a half-way neutral venue.
But on the basis of what you have said, the Bull sounds fine.
As a curtain call, then:
4-Pin Interleague (6-a-side) challenge Eastbourne v Crawley 28th August 2013 at the Bull.

Stop trying to nick our players ! >:( If you want another good player for the Bull, you might want to try Andy Farmer-Wright: he is up for most things and was talking about entering a team from there in the Horsham league a year ago.

We are having an introductions night on 26th June at the Bull, all are welcome. We will be tentatively looking around through the summer league to see if we can come up with 6 regulars for a possible winter league side.
Lots of water to flow under the bridge yet

PS hope warrior doesnt loose another folicle too soon :-*

Yep, 8pm start.
You ought to add on your previous message about your introduction night that it's at the BULL. (To avoid any confusion.) ;) Cheers.

The Eastbourne gang have postponed the intro night to Thursday 27th due to other commitments on 26th, so if you fancy meeting us at the bull make sure you turn up on 27th

Clive Please can you confirm the order for the breaks as you say breaks are reversed on the 2nd time round. Does that mean 1 team would get ALL three breaks in the first half ??
|
|
|
Post by Deleted on Jun 24, 2013 17:51:53 GMT
1 plays 1 twice, 2 v 2 twice and 3 v 3 twice with a break each. The players to toss a coin for the choice of whether to start with the break or finish with the break. Yes it could work out that one team has all three breaks in the first half, but it's debatable if that would turn out to be much of an advantage.
Suggest for the first year we suck it and see !

Had an intersting evening at The Dun Horse last night. We met a couple who were on holiday & staying at the pub for the night. They come from Holland but originally came from Basildon in Essex. They were delighted to see a BB table & got chatting they only ever played 4 pin and agreed that the high value shots were the way they used to play.
We had a very enjoyable couple of games with them and they got back into it with shots coming back in the 200 ;D
The shame was that they go home before our first match ;)

History was made tonight with the kick-off of the new 4-Pin league...... Mill House | | Malt Shovel | | Mick Holmwood | 1530 | Steve Hopkins | 830 | Margo Thompson | 220 | Stuart Carruthers | 1560 | Clive Thompson | 1810 | Sam Jones | 920 | Mick Holmwood | 1780 | Steve Hopkins | BP | Margo Thompson | 690 | Stuart Carruthers | 2020 | Clive Thompson | 2030 | Sam Jones | 760 | Result | 4 | Result | 2 |
An enjoyable night full of playful banter and sometimes sporting play (eg Mr Mike deliberately not sinking the red thereby leaving a chance of a last-ball 400 for Hoppo). Game 2 was a peach with Stuart C posting a 1040 break, but only after Margo had downed 800 points in two breaks. Good to see Malt Shovel landlady Lorraine present supporting her players. :-* Roll on next week at the Bull.

Gareth in leg 2 started with 900 & kept going with me trying to catch up he set the high score of 3370. Paul got the better of Gandalf despite Colins brave 50 50 break :)And it was John in leg 2 to bring the match to 3 each. Some good laughs and some very tasty sarnies from the Dun Horse.

I don't know how the rest of you are enjoying it, but we seem to have got off the ground smoothly with the first set of games.....next year I'm hoping to open it up a bit and maybe have two divisions of four. 4-Pin Interleague (6-a-side) challenge Eastbourne v Crawley 28th August 2013 at the Bull. 8.00pm start then Suggest as Gandalf's "super six" for Eastbourne will include the Bull players, for "Crawley" we take two each from the other three teams. This will also be Presentation Night. ;)

The real test of course would be to see if it works on a 'narrow' table - remember next year's Open might be in Suffolk, exclusively on 'proper' narrow tables ! ;)
