Results.
Henty "B" 6 - 2 B.L.E.P.
A surprising score given the Legioners were unbeaten going into this match.
Summary of the results - Boys first named.
Dave F beat Keith
Dan losing out to Pete
Big Boy Mel just losing out to Eric
Russ beating Simon
Dave & Dan getting the better of Keith and Simon
Big Boy & Russ beating Pete & Eric.
Well done to the Boys who are improving with every game which must put them in good stead for The Winter league. You can also bet the Legioners will be looking to bounce back in their next game to keep their title hopes alive.
White Hart 3 - 5 Henty "AA
An understrength Henty Mens team went into this match, due to the absence of Simon Mills and having to bring Stan into the side, pulled off a remarkable victory. The White Hart LAners raced into a 3 - 1 lead following the singles.
Lady H just getting the better of Stan, The home team landlord playing one of his better games beating Pete W and following the clash of the Summer league and Winter league chairmen the former coming out on top on this occasion making it honours even for the season. Only Captain Dec for the visitors coming good with a big win over Dan S to give the visitors any hope, with the home team still looking long odds on to win going into the doubles with a healthy aggregate lead.
However the Father and Son Dynes combination had a good win over Lady H and BB whilst the performance of the night was given by Stan who scored a high break whilst partnering Pete W to beat Gareth and Dan. This give the visitors just enough to take the aggregate as well.
The spectators were amazed to learn that Stan has not even been considered for the Henty Mens Wednesday night team especially after this performance, it just beggars belief. In fairness to Captain Dec in response, he did remark "We have seen and recruited better talent from our opponents tonight. Maybe one day Stan will break into the side".
All in all a superb match played on a brilliant top and in a very competitive spirit subjected to the usual friendly banter.
Well done to the Men and with the Legioners suffering their first league defeat , makes for a good run in for the Summer league championship.
