Just to say that I'm pleased to be selected again and will be available to play but what a shame it is to hear that Phil Collins has decided not to be considered this year.
He will be sadly missed and hopefully he will have a change of heart in future years.

As i think he may have just been saying he will not play as he was upset at the time? Shame that some new blood is not being given a chance in the B team, rather than the same players, even though they are not playing at all, or have not performed year on year..... But, congrats to Colin on his call-up

I will now list the stats from last year's teams that were selected by the Oxon Association Secretaries and representatives, and how these 'poorly selected' teams fared in the County Championships in 2012. Both teams won their Divisions with good individual results from everyone and there is a strong case for rewarding successful teams, quite apart from it becoming increasingly difficult to find players with the necessary experience, dedication and ability to replace them. I'm not going to get involved in a great discussion about this but Phil was asked relatively recently by both Pete and myself if he was still adamant about not playing and the answer was yes, he did not wish to play this year and we respected that decision. All the players that were selected this year have that experience, dedication and ability (apart from me but I'm only there as reserve if someone pulls out the night before! )
I too do not want to get into any great discussion over this as we seem to have the same issues every year..... I am not belittling the achievements of the two teams who done fantastically well last year to win Div 1 & Div 2. What i am saying is that there are players in the teams who have won less than 50% of their games over the past few years who always get picked no matter what they have achieved through the season (this depends how you are selecting the players?) The last point you make about players having the experience, dedication and ability... how are you supposed to get the experience of playing in these teams if you are never selected? Surely turning up to all the opens gives you the experience of playing in these high profile games, more so than just local league? Dedication and ability.... people who attend all the open tournaments throughout the year have the dedication...... People can slate me for this post as just going on as i do every year, but i am all about fair play and i think some people are not being given a fair go at playing for their county side because of others who, imo, do not deserve their place.
