It seems odd that none of the 6 byes numbered 59/64 came out before the 42nd number drawn!

Hi Keith.
I can understand your quizzical look, However the draw was done very fairly by my two youngest (Deedee and Lewis) watched over by my wife Diana and my other daughter Kelly.
The numbers came out AS PER THE DRAW, Yes i was sweating a bit near the end as it did occur to me that Bye v Bye could have happened, Fortunately i was very lucky that it didn't.

Adam Cox - Berks has been included as a late entry He will play MARK JAMES - Sussex I am curious to know how it was decided that Adam Cox would play Mark James.... I would have thought that logically a late entry would either have been put against the first bye in the draw.... which could either be interpreted as the first bye drawn out which would have meant that Adam would have been playing Martin Cole.... or by giving Adam the first number allocated as a bye (59) whioh would mean that he would have been playing me.... As a guess, perhaps it was because it was the latest start time for any of the byes.... in which case many thanks to the organisers for giving me and Martin the chance of extra hour in bed!!

The matches that included a BYE were numbered 1 - 6 and number 4 was drawn, thereby leaving Adam to play Mark.
This was i thought the fairest way

Hi
I am very sorry for the short notice but Stuart Carruthers will have to withdraw from the Berkshire Open as he broke his wrist on Wednesday night. Hopefully it means that someone who got a bye can now play in the first round. Thanks Steve Hopkins

Thanks Steve Hopkins It doesn't work that way, hoppo, as the bye's can't move to another part of the draw but a reserve (if any) can take his place in the draw. milko

Apologies to Mark Trafford and the organisers that it's very last minute; but I have to withdraw from the competition.
Problems with a few clients at work mean I simply cannot spare the time off tomorrow.

Congratulations to Keith Sheard on his victory today, beating Mark Trafford in the final of the Berks Open. Mark had opened with 14.3k, leaving Keith enough time to get about 1.5k in reply, Keith then played the table out in his break game for 15k plus. This was the line-up for the latter stages of the competition.... Last 16 Paul Sainsbury beat Mark Brewster Brian Dawkins lost to Nigel Senior Mark Trafford beat Lee Radford Richard Corbould lost to Barry Radford Dave Alder lost to Keith Sheard Martin Cole lost to Richard Wooton Dave Ingram lost to Mark James Kevin Tunstall beat Gerry Fitzjohn Quarter-Finals Paul Sainsbury lost to Nigel Senior Mark Trafford beat Barry Radford Keith Sheard beat Richard Wooton Mark James beat Kevin Tunstall Semi-Finals Nigel Senior (19k+) lost to Mark Trafford who made his first 20k in an Open to chase down Nigel's score. Keith Sheard beat Mark James (in a low-scoring battle on tricky table 8) Final Mark Trafford lost to Keith Sheard Keith also won the high break award with a play-out of 22,540. Last years Champion Ian Lelliott won the Plate Competition beating Chris Saville in the final. Many thanks to Dave Alder and Janet Burns for running the Admin Desk, Phil Hawkins, Keith Lewendon and Andy Burns for setting up the tables and Ron & Eileen Britton for running the raffle. A very enjoyable day at Reading.

I'm chuffed to bits to win my first Berk's Open title but have to say how fortunate I was in three of my matches, against Geoff Powell, Richard Wooton & Mark James to get through to the final, as I could easily have lost any of them. Well done to Mark T on his first "Open" 20k brk and also setting me a tough target in the final. Thanks to Dave & Janet on the desk for making it all possible by running this Open. Now, I've got three things that I need to get off my chest. Firstly do we really need two legs for every round of the plate, as this is extending the day longer than need be ? Secondly, why is this Open the only one that let's people pay on the day for their entry fee, as this allows people to enter the draw and then not turn up which leaves the organisers possibly out of pocket ? Thirdly, I realise that by not using one of the AEBBA tables can save money but if a local table has to be used can it be up to a decent standard because the "D" on table 8 for this Open was terrible, as you couldn't place the ball on the left edge of the "D" without it falling off and the centre of the "D" was so deep that it caused the cue ball to jump when you hit it! Ah! that's better........ Keith

Keith It might be better to ask first how many did not pay who did not turn up. We did and the day before we were attending, unfortunately my bursitis flared and I could not drive. Can I suggest that information is gained first. Chris Oh and really well done
