Unfortunately, despite all the work done last year, the truck has developed a major fault with a failed Engine Control Unit. Brian Dawkins is once again at the coal face and we are waiting to find out the cost of repairs to the ECU if it can be repaired. A new ECU, fitting and calibration is likely to be well over £1k and may not be economical. Whatever, the truck will be off the road for the next fortnight.
THUS!! unless anyone nearer has the equipment to transport loads of tables as it is not economical to hire;
I will be doing the collection from Reading and delivery to Sussex on Friday, I gather Tony Jenner is the contact and the venue is the Hurst Club. Tony: what time do you want the tables on Friday? will you have help to offload?
I will collect on Sunday night and deliver to Surrey two weeks later, I gather Gary Powell is the contact for that.
The problem then comes if the truck is not repairable, I will guarantee the two Sussex hires in Feb and guarantee Bournemouth and the four pin open.
I will not be doing the Oxford Open as I don't like the hotels in that area
After March my VW transporter and van trailer will be required for my classic motorcycle weekends so my participation is unlikely.
TJ please make contact urgently Gary at convenience.

The ECU will be examined cost £50. A refurbishment of it will cost £250. Sav is very kindly delivering to the Hurst and Salfords Club. We hope by then all will be completed and the van back on the road. All cross your fingers Chris

Chris Could someone keep us closely informed of the situation please as we may need to make contingency plans for the tables - it is the Inter Area one-day event on the same week-end as the Oxon Open... Tony

Saint Christopher once more to the rescue!
It's a very humbling reminder of how the game as a whole is so indebted to a few individuals. People should remind themselves of that far more often than they currently do, myself included.

We got three tables in the van on the way down and six on the trailer on the way back, so Bournemouth is covered if the truck takes more time or more finance to repair.

Update from Dave is the truck ECU is totally fried. Dave will start contacting people to try and source a used one from Monday, he has the serial numbers and has spotted one possibility in Europe.
This will obviously delay repairs so I will almost certainly be collecting the tables from Surrey next weekend. This will need monitoring for the following hire at Oxford and will obviously present a logistics problem as the tables will be in East Kent.

Excellent team from Surrey tonight for the tables delivery at Salfords, thanks to Gary and the team they had me turned around in thirty minutes and back home in just over five hours. Just as well as having a near death experience with man-flu at present .
