Not got the scores to hand as left the paperwork at the club! Steven Sheard beat Chris Iagoe Mark Trafford lost to Frank Cox Stuart Florey best Arthur McIntyre Kevin Godfrey lost to Chris Bateman Alan Oliver beat Paul Lovegrove Frank having a near 6.5k break against me (in 11mins) to leave me just enough time to catch but missed on 3k on reply. Not going to say too much about the luck Wallingford C had over the two games, it's the way things go! Good luck to them in the next round.

Reading B 3 Witney A 2
Overall Witney A 6 Reading B 4Played at the Sonning Club last in a very pleasant atmosphere. Dave Murrell took the first in fine style with nearly 10k. Tony Willis then took a point for Witney against Graham Alder but Phil Hawkins again pulled one back for Reading. So 5-3 to Witney and the inimitable Jon Scoones with break on fourth against Jon Bamsey - Reading needing 25k and two wins to take the tie, it was a bit of an anticlimax with JB just taking it for WItney and putting us through to play giant-killers Wallingford C in the semi (what a good job we're not giants - in the BB sense of course!) Scores did not really reflect the quality of the table but many thanks to the club and Reading B for their hospitality and for a good evening. Tony

Inter Area Final - 1st leg
Northampton A 2 Witney A 3Northants A
| Witney A | Stephen Coleman | 6900 | | 2750 | Bill Keenan | Damian Coates | 1220 | | 8080 | Roger Bowen | Lorin Clough | 2630 | | 8690 | Tony Willis | Simon Coleman | 10000 | | 3910 | Jon Bamsey | Andy Chambers | 4000 | | 4150 | Terry Cook | 2 | 24750 | | 27580 | 3 |
A very exciting leg at Rushden Tory Club. Stephen took the first against Bill, with Steve settling earlier after a nervy start on both sides. Roger took the next with some excellent play against Damian and then I broke off with 8K, taking long enough to give Lorin no chance. Simon then levelled the match with a brilliant 10K score against Jon. Andy, uncharacteristically broke down early against Terry and after some scratchy play by both players, Terry got the break back right at the end and stayed there. After the bar dropped trapping the red and white, he was left with six whites and only had to play the break three times to win by 150! So a good 3-2 win for Witney to take to the Lamb and Flag Hailey on Wednesday 26th November. A close game between two evenly matched team, played in an excellent atmosphere and Damo cooked some lovely Chinese food for supper.........How he does those mini-samosas I'll never know! ;) Tony

Inter Area NBBA Challenge Cup Final - 2nd leg
Witney A 2 Northampton A 3 at the Lamb & Flag HaileyWitney A
| Northants A | Terry Cook | 4790 | | 7060 | Stephen Coleman | Jon Bamsey | 3260 | | 4540 | Damian Coates | Roger Bowen | 13550 | | 720 | Simon Coleman | Tony Willis | 10800 | | 4420 | Andy Chambers | Bill Keenan | 870 | | 5720 | Lorin Clough | 2 | 33270 | | 22460 | 3 |
Northampton 5 (47,210) Witney A 5 (60,850) over the two legs. Witney A are 2014 Inter Area championsIn the first game Terry broke off with about 4K and after much toing-and-froing Stephen got them back and finished off the table with a dogged break to put Northants one up on the night. The second was a strange game with Witney's talismatic Jon Bamsey making lots of errors to let Damian in to take Northants second point. Northampton 4-3 up! In the third Simon broke down early to give Roger an opportunity and he tapped on at a brilliant 9k to give Witney a chance to draw level after adding another 4k to finish. Four all! Witney's break in the fourth and Tony went in with 10,500 in steady time, tapping on for victory. Andy got them back after a couple more shots each and finished off the table. 5-4 to Witney and 18,490 up on aggregate. This left Lorin having to run the table out in good time to take victory for the Northants team - a feat not beyond his capabilities. It was not to be and although Lorin beat Bill in the end, the aggregate proved too much and Witney A were 2014 Champions! An excellent and friendly night and a very enjoyable and competitive final overall. Jenny Parsons presented the trophies and Andrew, landlord of the Flag, provided a lovely curry to finish off. Thanks to everyone who took part again this year and see you all agin next time. May I also wish good luck to our mate Terry Cook who has a difficult time ahead in the JR Hospital over the next month and we all wish him the very best for a speedy recovery. Congratulations Witney on becoming Inter Area champions. A great final, and although it was a big ask it still did go down to the last leg! I know by the first two games, we were thinking we had a great chance to win this, however Roger played fantastically and pretty much turned it back in the favour of Witney. Tony starting with a big break in the forth then finished us off. Food was fantastic and overall a great competition which i hope to play in for many years.
