Congratulations to Colleen Park and Dave Ingram who won the AEBBA Mixed Pairs title this evening beating Michelle Baden and Nigel Senior in the Final. Thoroughly deserved as they had played well all day. Thanks to Dave Alder for organisation of the day - it was small but perfectly formed. Tony |

Thoroughly deserved as they had played well all day. Thanks to Dave Alder for organisation of the day - it was small but perfectly formed. Tony Many thanks Tony (and all) for your kind words.... most thanks of all to Dave Alder for running the day with some help from Nigel Senior (schedule) and Geoff Mace, Dave Tooke and Simon Ellam for setting up the tables.  The competition was played in two groups with Michelle & Nigel winning all 5 of their games in Group A with Colleen & Dave (3 wins) just ahead of Ros Appleby & Colin Southouse on aggregate for the runners-up spot. Hilary Burford & Curt Driver won all 4 of their games to top Group B ahead of Sue Atkins & Dav Tooke who had 3 wins. Nigel made the highest break of the day (14,240) in their semi-final win over Sue & Dave T, while Colleen & I beat Hilary and Curt in a high scoring game in the other semi, Colleen's 2.4k break in the first leg against the break proving to be decisive in that match. The final was close and could easily have gone either way with all of us struggling to get to grips with the table, a 7k break in the second proved enough to take the win. Perhaps the only disappointing thing was the reduced number of entries from previous years.... the people that weren't there missed a very enjoyable day, some good close matches and plenty of games for everybody. |

Good fun all day, thanks to Dave Alder and the team who managed the event ,shame there were only 11 pairs in the contest, come on ladies pick some fellas to bring up next time and make sure they concentrate!
