Big congratulations go to Gary Powell for not only making his first Open Final, but actually winning it as well. I played the first game out for 17950. He came back with his highest ever score (by over a thousand) of 18400. Although I am disappointed not to have won myself, this is a fantastic result for Bar Billiards. Gary is one of the nice guys in the game and works very hard in Redhill to put on their very popular Open competitions. I'm for him. Well done to the organisers for a smoothly run day. Only one moan, perhaps we can have some larger draw sheets next year

Well done on your win Gary, thoroughly deserved given the standards you've shown today and couldn't of come for a more humble guy!
And as well something to be said for Kev's usual display of class and integrity in defeat with his kind and congratulatory words.

Many thanks for the kind words. I am still in a state of shock. Many thanks to Mark and his helpers for laying on the event, I know how much effort goes into the organising of an open event. The win is made all the more special having to play some of the best players in the game. Kevin thank you so much for your words and for being a true champion, sadly you seem to bring the best out in your opponents. I am hoping this is the first of many. A special thanks to Matt for scoring the final, his soft voice kept me concentrated!!

Well done Gary a great achievement and to do your highest in the final to come back against KT what a way to do it. Kevin as usual humble in defeat. Gary is one of the tireless organisers of events that put heart into our game and ensures survival, so good to see him acheive a fanresult.

Very well done to Gary Powell on his brilliant win in the Oxon Open and bad luck to the gracious loser. Gary timed his break to perfection and indeed played well all day to thoroughly deserve the victory. Semi-finallists were Jon Bamsey and Mike Daw. Amid the euphoria Johnny George was quietly winning the plate against fellow Northants player and serial plate winner, Damian Coates, and very well done to him too. I am sure Mark will put the full results up here when he has recovered from the ordeal.... Tony
