Here are my thoughts.... (2,800) Black Horse v Laughing Fish K (4,700) A big hurdle for the Kippers to try to overcome with the Stallions looking to lock the stable gate on the visitors chances this season, the going will be soft with some tricky jumps and that will favour the home side. A 3-2 home win here. (4,800) Glynde Club v Cock n Balls (2,500) The Club table will be very cold in this weather so the visitors will start as favorites thanks to the handicaps, can the home team keep up their challenge or will the visitors rise to the occasion. A shock 3-2 away win opens up the title race. (3,400) Albion (Hollingbury) v Hospital Club (2,500) Another new home for the Brighton Nomads, will this pub survive the increased noise of their awesome captain or will it be closed due to complaints from the neighbours? Good use of the handicaps will be needed by the visiting medical staff to avoid permanent damage to their title chances, a 3-2 away win looks like the best chance. (3,100) Laughing Fish W v Plough Plumpton (2,700) The title chasing Plough makes its way to the bottom team and have a small advantage in 3 of their games. The draw will be important but I think that the visitors will come away with a 3-2 win as the Whitebait continue to flounder in the shallows. Hikers Rest (4,800) have a bye this week The boots are off as the back-packers take a well-deserved rest this week, but results elsewhere leave them needing to pull their socks up when the League Cup resumes in a few weeks time or they will finish mid-table.

Silent has a go second this week:- (2,800) Black Horse v Laughing Fish K (4,700) - mixed reviews about the table in recent weeks which could make things interesting. Certainly the Ks will be looking for an improved result after the 'thrashing' of last week....and the Black Horse will be warming up for their quiet semi-final the following week. Jan in fine form and will see the home team to victory 3-2 (4,800) Glynde Club v Cock n Balls (2,500) - excellent result last week for the home team who have a very nice captain (as I managed to beat him on Sunday ). Last week also saw a return for Mr Wooton which obviously makes a difference and a good handicap advantage 2-3 (3,400) Albion (Hollingbury) v Hospital Club (2,500) - New venue for the league leaders on the back of an excellent victory last week against the previously undefeated Plough....might have a problem finding the new venue?? We have had two competitive matches against our friendly opponents, I predict same result and same noisy team at different venue 3-2 (3,100) Laughing Fish W v Plough Plumpton (2,700) - Home team struggling at the foot of the table and away team looking for an improved result after last week, and they have a small advantage in the handicaps 2-3 Hikers Rest (4,800) have a bye this week - no points for the Hikers as they are having a 'rest' this week after their excellent result last week......however, this leaves the possibility that their nearly awesome captain may turn up at a game close by

Black Horse have a start of 1900 in three games a the result could well depend on the draw and also use of the handicaps, all being well I think the Fish can get things back on track and power there way swimming against the current and out galloping the Horse to come away with a 3-2 win.
Glynde give a 2300 start in three games and the Cock have not had there strongest line up so far in this competition so I cannot see any old balls going on in this match and with home team advantage I can see the Glynde nomadic squad beating the ballcockers 4-1
Albion (Hollingbury) give away only 900 in three games and as much as the draw will have an interest i can see the team being inspired by their captain and leave the Hospital leaving nursing their wounds after losing 3-2 despite some bed rest last week. A good start at their new venue.
Laughing Fish Whalers have to give a valuable 400 in three games and this could make the difference and the Plough are performing well in this competition, the unbeaten home skipper will be hoping for the right draw but even this I cannot see stopping the visitors going away with a 3-2 win.
The Hikers can hang up their back packs this week and rest their weary feet putting those hiking boots up and regaining energy after all that walking.

Black Horse v K's Still get the heebeegeebees thinking of the Horse top- WC says its better now, but still gives the hosts a 3-2 home win, who am I to disagree with BBW so I wont...nice score from the iron maiden last week can she do it again 3-2 home win Glynde v Cock I Is a tricky 1, big handy cap and 3 away breaks as well, but the Glynde club will battery the cocks wings and halt his call with a 3-2 home win Albion v Hospital The youngsters may find the handicap a challenge putting then in dire straights but the homies seniors should come up trumps sending the visitor away with 3 injuries (ear injuries I suspect ) 3-2 home win W's v Plough W's with a small handicap and 3 breaks against will struggle to make a fist of this, but theres something in the air tonight which gives them the result they desire could be the genesis of the w's 3-2 home win can you spot my secret theme Hikers resting tonight missing all the madness

I last played the Black Horse in Lewes Doubles at the start of December, I thought it was okay then but that doesn't mean it is the same now.

OK now for my 2nd attempt. Still playing catch up so Mr Dave I'm fluttering my eyelids. Note to self after last week ..... MUST DO BETTER So here goes ..... my aim this week is to get at least one result correct.
Black Horse v Laughing Fish K Both teams will be hoping to improve on last weeks results (got that bit right) The dark broncos will be looking to kick the rumps of the kippers. But it will be the pickled herrings laughing at the end 3 - 2 Away Win
Glynde Club v CocknBalls The Glynde must be singing soprano after their win last week and Captain Colin (alias Giuseppi Verdi...well I think there's a likeness) will be singing their praises. The Cocks spirits will be raised after their hard fought win last week but can't see them rising to the occasion tonight. 4-1 Home Win
Albion (Hollingbury) v Hospital Club The Hospital Club should be well rested for their visit to the Hollingbury. (They need to be!)Hopefully they will know that the Hollingbury isn't actually in Hollingbury. Hopefully Silent knows where his home venue is. The Hospital Club may need some gentle nursing when they eventually find the pub and some intensive care after trying to park. New venue for the home team so they will be trying to impress.............mmmm..........nuff said 3-2 Home Win
Laughing Fish W v Plough Hopefully the snow ploughs will not have to be used for this trip. The Fish could be in trouble with a FAIR FISHER in the Plough team tonight. They may have to rely on escaping to the Brookes to keep them safe. Still not sure what the W stands for .... Whelks, Winkles, Whales, Weevers, Whitings unfortunately though tonight I cant see it standing for Win. 3-2 Away Win
Hikers Rest v Bye No points for the Hikers this week as the Hikers ............ Rest
Gandalf could your secret theme be something to do with groups and songs? I wont tell anyone!
Right now for an edit!! I always just do a quick reply which means I can't do smilies. Don't bother me coz I struggle with the smilies when I try to add one. BUT all of its own accord my Winkles are winking at me!!!!!

Already managed to get beat in my Lewes Singles this evening , sympathy point needed Black Horse v Fish K After some super performances from Jan and Richard in our interleague last night a 3 2 home victory is on the cards . Glynde v Cock Dependant on the teams put out tonight , could go either way but going for another 3 2 home victory. Albion v Hospital Club A 900 handicap to overcome for the Albion/Hollingbury whoever?? , but on their new top will come away with a 4 1 victory. Maybe an appearance from a nearly awesome captain will gain Silent a bonus point. Fish W v Plough The away team will be too strong for the floundering fish this evening and come away with a 4 1 win. Hikers muddy boots left at the door tonight , but will be marching back for the knockout next week. Just checked I don't agree with any of Jean's scorelines , must be in with a chance then

The Plough team were unFAIRly lined up and were unable to furrow through the Meadow.
The Worms turned (into Whales) and the Fish bit back, laughing all the way.
The Dethonator Whale will undoubtedly flesh out the (fish) bones of this result later.
The curry was hot, as was the conversation - so farmhands, Fisher and Fish all had a good night.

With all of the results now in, time to do some marking.... starting with me! Unfortunately, as far as results are concerned, I got this spot on for 3 points, at least a topical bonus helps to reduce the pain. Oh dear, got this one totally wrong with the home team romping to a 5-0 victory helped by a fairly flaccid performance from the visitors.... no points here for me. 3 points for the correct result plus a bonus point as the visitors showed the awesome home captain how to use the jokers. A 4-1 home win certainly came out of the (Deep) Blue (Sea) with the minnows turning into Great White Sharks to record their first victory, just a topical bonus point to stop me from floundering too much in the tipsters! Hikers Rest (4,800) have a bye this week The boots are off as the back-packers take a well-deserved rest this week, but results elsewhere leave them needing to pull their socks up when the League Cup resumes in a few weeks time or they will finish mid-table. Worth a topical bonus for humour I think.... plus a bonus point as the Hikers are exactly mid-table after this weeks results. BB Warrior - 11 points

The Silent one next.... (2,800) Black Horse v Laughing Fish K (4,700) - mixed reviews about the table in recent weeks which could make things interesting. Certainly the Ks will be looking for an improved result after the 'thrashing' of last week....and the Black Horse will be warming up for their quiet semi-final the following week. Jan in fine form and will see the home team to victory 3-2 Spot on for 3 points plus a well earned bonus as Jan won the decider for the home team. (4,800) Glynde Club v Cock n Balls (2,500) - excellent result last week for the home team who have a very nice captain (as I managed to beat him on Sunday ). Last week also saw a return for Mr Wooton which obviously makes a difference and a good handicap advantage 2-3 Another tipster falls as the Glynde Bully-Boys continue their march towards the double.... Mr Wooton made no difference at all but I will give you a bonus point for beating the "very nice" Captain recently even though his score last night indicated that he wasn't very nice to his opponent! (3,400) Albion (Hollingbury) v Hospital Club (2,500) - New venue for the league leaders on the back of an excellent victory last week against the previously undefeated Plough....might have a problem finding the new venue?? We have had two competitive matches against our friendly opponents, I predict same result and same noisy team at different venue 3-2 Well done for finding your new home venue, that has to be worth a point! Sadly, that's the only point that I can give you here.... (3,100) Laughing Fish W v Plough Plumpton (2,700) - Home team struggling at the foot of the table and away team looking for an improved result after last week, and they have a small advantage in the handicaps 2-3 With the home team turning on the style for a 4-1 win.... no points here. Hikers Rest (4,800) have a bye this week - no points for the Hikers as they are having a 'rest' this week after their excellent result last week......however, this leaves the possibility that their nearly awesome captain may turn up at a game close by No reference as to whether the "nearly awesome" captain turned up and hard to really justify a bonus point for the (poor) reference to "having a res".... but, I am feeling in a kind mood so will give you 1 point for effort. Silent - 7 points

BigTJ next.... Black Horse have a start of 1900 in three games a the result could well depend on the draw and also use of the handicaps, all being well I think the Fish can get things back on track and power there way swimming against the current and out galloping the Horse to come away with a 3-2 win. Sadly, the Fish fell at the last leaving the home team to up the horsepower and canter to victory. 1 point for topical humour. Glynde give a 2300 start in three games and the Cock have not had there strongest line up so far in this competition so I cannot see any old balls going on in this match and with home team advantage I can see the Glynde nomadic squad beating the ballcockers 4-1 The closest prediction to the correct result is worth 2 points this week, plus a bonus for the humour. Albion (Hollingbury) give away only 900 in three games and as much as the draw will have an interest i can see the team being inspired by their captain and leave the Hospital leaving nursing their wounds after losing 3-2 despite some bed rest last week. A good start at their new venue. Just the one bonus point with the home team needing bed rest now. Laughing Fish Whalers have to give a valuable 400 in three games and this could make the difference and the Plough are performing well in this competition, the unbeaten home skipper will be hoping for the right draw but even this I cannot see stopping the visitors going away with a 3-2 win. Starting to think there must be something "fishy" about the 4-1 home win with all of the tipsters wrong so far.... .... no points here this week. The Hikers can hang up their back packs this week and rest their weary feet putting those hiking boots up and regaining energy after all that walking. A topical bonus point to finish off with.... BigTJ - 6 points

Our musical maestro is next.... did he get the right beat this week? Black Horse v K's Still get the heebeegeebees thinking of the Horse top- WC says its better now, but still gives the hosts a 3-2 home win, who am I to disagree with BBW so I wont...nice score from the iron maiden last week can she do it again 3-2 home win No idea why you think there is a problem with the Horse table, was tempted to deduct a point for that and just copying my prediction but decided that would be a "Tragedy" and sure you want your tipsters challenge to remain "Staying Alive" so I won't. 3 points for the correct result and an "Iron Maiden" bonus point. Glynde v Cock I Is a tricky 1, big handy cap and 3 away breaks as well, but the Glynde club will battery the cocks wings and halt his call with a 3-2 home win 1 point for the home win.... and a barely earned bonus point because I am so kind. Albion v Hospital The youngsters may find the handicap a challenge putting then in dire straights but the homies seniors should come up trumps sending the visitor away with 3 injuries (ear injuries I suspect ) 3-2 home win No points for the result, but a topical point for humour definitely deserved. W's v Plough W's with a small handicap and 3 breaks against will struggle to make a fist of this, but theres something in the air tonight which gives them the result they desire could be the genesis of the w's 3-2 home win Worth 2 points for being the only tipster to predict a home win, a bonus point awarded as I am a Genesis fan as well. can you spot my secret theme It wasn't that secret really.... but earns a bonus point for being something different that makes it more interesting and fun. Hikers resting tonight missing all the madness Oh, all right.... welcome to the house of fun and get another bonus point. Gandalf - 12 points

Nice to see Lady Jean having another go.... OK now for my 2nd attempt. Still playing catch up so Mr Dave I'm fluttering my eyelids. Again...?? Oh dear, okay.... have a bonus point but just don't tell Colleen or she will also know how to get what she wants in future, as if she didn't know already! Note to self after last week ..... MUST DO BETTER So here goes ..... my aim this week is to get at least one result correct. Lets see if you did.... Black Horse v Laughing Fish K Both teams will be hoping to improve on last weeks results (got that bit right) The dark broncos will be looking to kick the rumps of the kippers. But it will be the pickled herrings laughing at the end 3 - 2 Away Win Well, both teams did improve on their results of the previous week, so a bonus point for that. You didn't get the result right but a bonus for humour as well. 4-1 Home Win 2 worthy points for (just) missing out on a perfect result... the Cock probably singing soprano after being kicked in the B***s with Giuseppi certainly on song to also give you a bonus point. New venue for the home team so they will be trying to impress.............mmmm..........nuff said 3-2 Home Win A 3-2 away win means no points for the result, but a bonus point for the Geography lesson which probably helped Silent to find his way to the venue and another bonus for the additional humour. 3-2 Away Win Whitebait is apparently what the W stands for... although last night it meant Winners or Whales! A bonus point given for the enjoyable alternatives they could have used for their team name but sadly no points for the result here. Hikers Rest v Bye No points for the Hikers this week as the Hikers ............ Rest Oh, big hollow groan.... 1 (undeserved) bonus point (very reluctantly) given. Gandalf could your secret theme be something to do with groups and songs? I wont tell anyone! Mental note to myself, don't tell Jean any secrets! A bonus point for correctly identifying Gandalf's theme and helping the marker to understand it. Right now for an edit!! I always just do a quick reply which means I can't do smilies. Don't bother me coz I struggle with the smilies when I try to add one. BUT all of its own accord my Winkles are winking at me!!!!! Winkles that .... that has to be worth a bonus point. JB - only ONE result correct but 12 points awarded

A late entry from Little Legs that was only just submitted in time.... Already managed to get beat in my Lewes Singles this evening , sympathy point needed Just because I was nice to Jean, now everybody is trying to get sympathy points! Oh, okay.... 1 bonus point for getting your entry in on time. Black Horse v Fish K After some super performances from Jan and Richard in our interleague last night a 3 2 home victory is on the cards . 3 points for a correct result. Glynde v Cock Dependant on the teams put out tonight , could go either way but going for another 3 2 home victory. 1 point for predicting the home win, was it the Glynde version of Giuseppi Verdi you were thinking could go either way? He is still jealous of you for winning the fancy dress competition at Redhill last year.... so have a bonus point for that as well. Albion v Hospital Club A 900 handicap to overcome for the Albion/Hollingbury whoever?? , but on their new top will come away with a 4 1 victory. Maybe an appearance from a nearly awesome captain will gain Silent a bonus point. Perhaps your visit would have inspired them to do better, no points for the result but a bonus point awarded (in sympathy) as perhaps you could not find your way to their new venue either?? Fish W v Plough The away team will be too strong for the floundering fish this evening and come away with a 4 1 win. Another tipster beaten by the Great White Sharks.... a bonus point only here for humour. Hikers muddy boots left at the door tonight , but will be marching back for the knockout next week. Wipe the muddy boots on the table for your match next week.... I'm sure it will improve it! A topical bonus point given. Just checked I don't agree with any of Jean's scorelines , must be in with a chance then .... that was a bit harsh.... but made me laugh for another bonus point. Little Legs - 10 points

What bonus points can we give (or take away) this week....? Let me start with this one.... when i flutter my eyelids at dave he just leaves the room for a fag ... mentioning 4 pin has the same effect .... which gives a huge DEDUCTION of FIVE points for Gandalf.... one for each peg in a certain format and the other simply because the idea of him fluttering his eyelids at me is just too frightening to do anything else! But, he does get a bonus point for this.... and one or the other of your suggestions is correct they will be more secret next time .... as I did like the idea of the secret theme behind his posts. Gandalf also gains 6 bonus points for this post.... In the Madness It was all a blur last night but i got the cure from dr. hook who ironed out the kinks in my game to make a sweet result. .... one for each of the groups that he mentioned. Maybe he has even ironed out the "Kinks" on the Glynde table looking at his score there last night? Obviously, that means it is only fair to award 4 bonus points to myself for my references to the same theme.... Gandalf could find himself in DIRE STRAITS when I come to marking this week, such BAD MANNERS mentioning that four letter word (no, I don't mean ABBA) could result in a huge (Hair)CUT(100) of his points that will leave him feeling as if some STIFF LITTLE FINGERS have been put where they should not have been.... so, much the same as I feel when he flutters his eyelids at me really! .... and Silent also has a slim chance of a couple of bonus points for his reply.... BAD MANNERS released two singles which I thought were quite appropriate for us slightly more rotund players....."Lie up Fatty" and "Fatty's Back in Town" .... trust him to know those song titles! I was on the verge of telling "Whatsername" that you had to put your Tipsters predictions in BEFORE the match was played when I saw this post on the thread.... (LFW 4 Plough 1) .... but the realised that it was actually the result of their match rather than a prediction of what was going to happen. Many thanks to Ros for joing in and 3 points to her for the humour. Not much to add from the match reports although Gandalf gains a bonus point for this.... Colin Southouse 13140 - 1870 Richard Wooton** Sadly Richard didn't get too much chance of testing the cushions tonight ....not because he was so mean to Richard in the game but at least he did manage to spell his surname correctly.... Unfortunately, Gandalf then LOST a point for something written in his report on the Lewes website.... Good contributions from all the glyne team tonight, chris and bob battled well to force the final score so well done to the homies and commiserations to the cock who caught us in great form, plenty of chatter and a nice cheese and bacon pasta thingy from our mate dave [Colin Southouse] .... how can you not spell your own home team name correctly?? One final bonus point must be awarded this week.... to the Hospital Club Captain, Stewart Chant. Having had to enjoy (or maybe endure?) an evening in the company of Silent, he clearly had problems putting the result on the Lewes website but eventually got there at the FOURTH attempt. So, a point for sheer persistence on his behalf. Okay, here are the points awarded for this week.... BB Warrior: 11+4 = 15 points Gandalf the Untidy: 12-5+1+6+1-1 = 14 points JB: 12+0 = 12 points Little Legs: 10+0 = 10 points Silent: 7+2 = 9 points BigTJ: 6+0 = 6 points Whatsername: 0+3 = 3 points Stewart Chant: 0+1 = 1 point

Silent still leads the way but the chasing pack is starting to close the gap. We all have a few weeks off now when the Cup and League games are played, so plenty of time to think of more new ways to earn points.

The Headmaster/WC/BBW/Sir Dave is closing in rapidly at the top......he doesn't do silver medals so we need to keep a close eye on the marking Gandalf in the second half but for goodness sake don't tell him for Gandalf I think Stu was with all the CHANTING at the Hollingbury, he endured a good night with an endearing team ....and came away with the win to Dave for being an excellent tipster mark man (TMM) for part one

Aww! I thought I would get an additional point for the musical (and on topic) Dethonator reference I thought a bonus was due for "VEN DIAGRAM" during anagram week as well, but on with the fun plus 1 for anagram -1 for being picky I think

Aww! I thought I would get an additional point for the musical (and on topic) Dethonator reference I thought a bonus was due for "VEN DIAGRAM" during anagram week as well, but on with the fun plus 1 for anagram -1 for being picky I think Hmmmm.... after a bit of thought I suppose that Gandalf should get a bonus for his anagram in Week 4 and Ros can have an extra bonus point for the (very topical) Dethonator reference as well this week. Which also means that I will have to award myself an extra point for my anagram last week as well.... they were very good SLOPPY BEAR! Silent has obviously recently been attending the "JB School of Charm".... The Headmaster/WC/BBW/Sir Dave is closing in rapidly at the top......he doesn't do silver medals so we need to keep a close eye on the marking Gandalf in the second half but for goodness sake don't tell him for Gandalf I think Stu was with all the CHANTING at the Hollingbury, he endured a good night with an endearing team ....and came away with the win to Dave for being an excellent tipster mark man (TMM) for part one .... he can have a bonus point just for being such a nice person and scoring my singles game last night. Gandalf must have also been taking a few lessons there as well.... I'm Astonished, i'm acually enjoying reading BBW's epics these days ...... stand by for action, anything can be deducted in the next half hour!!! PS and nice to see others joining in as well .... he can also have a bonus point as he obviously is "very nice" just as Silent keeps telling us. Gandalf did however nearly lose (many, many) points for this post.... thank god i didnt mention 5 pin PPPPS anyone got some eye lashes! .... but ends up getting a bonus as I nearly choked on my tea laughing at this last night. However.... Gandalf does urgently need the help of his fellow tipsters.... PPPS everyone give me the thumbs up or i will soon be on -23 points Will you help him to avoid his fate.... Revised table now shown below.
