Getting close to "squeaky bum" time for the Tipsters with the penultimate week of this years competition matches to be played on Monday 23rd March....
(2,700) Plough Plumpton 3 - 2 Hikers Rest (4,800) (2,500) Cock'n'Balls 2 - 3 Laughing Fish K (4,700) (2,500) Hospital Club 4 - 1 Black Horse (2,800) (3,400) Albion Hollingbury 2 - 3 Glynde Club (4,800) Laughing Fish W (3,100) have a bye this week

Here are my thoughts on the games.... (2,700) Plough Plumpton v Hikers Rest (4,800) Although the Plough currently prop up the rest of the teams in the League Cup table, the visiting Hikers could be in for a tough evening having to give away a large start in 3 of the games. The heavy duty walking boots will be required to successfully make their way over the many fields that are sure to have been Ploughed up well by now.... a close 3-2 win for the visitors will keep them comfortably in mid-table. (2,500) Cock'n'Balls v Laughing Fish K (4,700) The Cock could be crowing after this match if the home team rise to the occasion and take advantage of the handicap, with Tetley in their team they have enough fire power to take advantage of a good draw and send the Kippers back down-river with their tails between their legs. A 3-2 home win could be on the cards. (2,500) Hospital Club v Black Horse (2,800) After their heroics against the Glynde Club last week, the doctors will be hoping to dish out the same sort of medicine against the high-flying Stallions.... but with very little advantage in the handicaps and with the new table such an improvement over the old one I think that the visitors will keep their title charge going with a 4-1 win. (3,400) Albion Hollingbury v Glynde Club (4,800) The "indestructibles" will be looking to bounce back from their defeat last year or could see their title hopes slip away at this quiet venue. The "awesome" home captain will be in full cry as he encourages his troops and I am sure he will be keen to defeat his "very nice" opposite number.... in volume even if not actually on the table. The good draw and making use of the handicaps will be essential for the home side but with the pressure mounting on the visitors to take the title a 3-2 home win could be on the cards. Laughing Fish W (3,100) have a bye this week A well deserved rest for the W's which will see them refreshed for their last league cup game away to the leaders.... H will be fired up for that one I am sure especially after they came so close to winning there in the League earlier this year when just 10 points in one game made the difference.

Here are the Silent tips:- (2,700) Plough Plumpton v Hikers Rest (4,800) - the Plough were one of my favourites in the pre-season tipping but have not performed to the expected standard. The away captain is in fine form and despite the high handicaps on what is normally a good table I go for an away win 3-2 (2,500) Cock'n'Balls v Laughing Fish K (4,700) - The Ks had a break last week but their poor old captain did not as he was competing in Worthing Competitions. I wish good luck to whomever might give 'Tetley' a 2200 start but still believe the all stars will have enough fire power for a 3-2 away win (2,500) Hospital Club v Black Horse (2,800) - The away team are fighting hard to catch the leaders but with time running out they need some big wins but the doctors and nurses have performed well under 'Consultant' Chant and will be no pushovers but I just favour another away win 3-2 (3,400) Albion Hollingbury v Glynde Club (4,800) - Awesome v Nice (although notice CS has been a bit grumpy lately, still what better place to come to be cheered up) 1st v 3rd all the makings of a 'classic' - God sounding like Ed Chamberlain on the Sky Sports football getting very excited about what turns out to be rubbish Premier League match!! Anyway the home team are likely to have a big say on who wins the League Cup with tonight's match and visiting 2nd place Black Horse in the last round next week. Definitely an advantage to have played on the table, at least 3 of the Glynde have done so. Unfortunately, the home team have 'I don't win on Mondays', 'don't like the table', 'can't make the 5 minute walk in time' and 'I don't win on Thursdays' in their ranks + Nige so I complete a clean sweep of predictions with 3-2 away win Laughing Fish W (3,100) have a bye this week - The Ws deserve a week off after enduring a noisy week last Monday. Still trying to work out how that visiting captain got 6k!!!!

Plough have a good advantage on the home table and I take them to eclipse the Hikers 3 2 there will be no resting those boots for the away side
Cock receive a useful start but I see the whales from the Laughing Fish swallowing up the minnows balls 4 1
Hospital and Horse not much in the handicaps but home advantage will see the Horse returning with bandaged fetlocks after a 3 2 loss.
Albion receive a reasonable start and if the draw is kind I see them putting a stop on the league leaders, Glynde will not be singing arias all the way home after a 3 2 loss.
Laughing Fish W have the bye and will rest on their laurels and sink a few pints to end up like a fish out of water ????

Time to do some marking.... starting with me. I guess that the boot laces were not quite tight enough for the visitors.... no points for the result just a bonus for the (attempted) humour. The draw went against the home team.... no points here for me. I do like to be proved wrong and the home team certainly did that by dishing out a 4-1 win to end the Black Horse's hopes of the title.... no points for the result and just a solitary bonus for topical humour. A 3-2 home win completes a full house of no points for the results.... with the "very nice" visiting captain turning rapidly into "Mr Grumpy" I can just about justify a bonus for other topical comments. Oh well, at least I didn't get this result wrong! BB Warrior - 3 points

Now our current Tipsters leader.... the awesome captain! (2,700) Plough Plumpton v Hikers Rest (4,800) - the Plough were one of my favourites in the pre-season tipping but have not performed to the expected standard. The away captain is in fine form and despite the high handicaps on what is normally a good table I go for an away win 3-2 Another tipster falls at the first hurdle.... and with Little Legs losing there are no points here. (2,500) Cock'n'Balls v Laughing Fish K (4,700) - The Ks had a break last week but their poor old captain did not as he was competing in Worthing Competitions. I wish good luck to whomever might give 'Tetley' a 2200 start but still believe the all stars will have enough fire power for a 3-2 away win Spot on with the result for 3 good points.... plus a bonus for your sympathy towards me not having a night off last week. (2,500) Hospital Club v Black Horse (2,800) - The away team are fighting hard to catch the leaders but with time running out they need some big wins but the doctors and nurses have performed well under 'Consultant' Chant and will be no pushovers but I just favour another away win 3-2 The 4-1 home win put a dent in your title prospect as well.... but I certainly think a consultant bonus point is well deserved. (3,400) Albion Hollingbury v Glynde Club (4,800) - Awesome v Nice (although notice CS has been a bit grumpy lately, still what better place to come to be cheered up) 1st v 3rd all the makings of a 'classic' - God sounding like Ed Chamberlain on the Sky Sports football getting very excited about what turns out to be rubbish Premier League match!! Anyway the home team are likely to have a big say on who wins the League Cup with tonight's match and visiting 2nd place Black Horse in the last round next week. Definitely an advantage to have played on the table, at least 3 of the Glynde have done so. Unfortunately, the home team have 'I don't win on Mondays', 'don't like the table', 'can't make the 5 minute walk in time' and 'I don't win on Thursdays' in their ranks + Nige so I complete a clean sweep of predictions with 3-2 away win Another very long prediction.... I guess that could be classed as a new "theme" so will give myself a bonus point for spotting it first! Spot on for the result and I think that the humour is definitely worth 2 points this time. Laughing Fish W (3,100) have a bye this week - The Ws deserve a week off after enduring a noisy week last Monday. Still trying to work out how that visiting captain got 6k!!!! You only think that they need ONE week to recover??? Worth another bonus point. Silent - 11 points BB Warrior - 1 point

BigTJ is next.... Plough have a good advantage on the home table and I take them to eclipse the Hikers 3 2 there will be no resting those boots for the away side The only tipster to predict a home win.... 3 good points plus a very topical bonus point. Cock receive a useful start but I see the whales from the Laughing Fish swallowing up the minnows balls 4 1 1 point for the home win.... a naughty humour bonus point awarded as well. Hospital and Horse not much in the handicaps but home advantage will see the Horse returning with bandaged fetlocks after a 3 2 loss. Once again the only tipster to predict a home win which is worth TWO points plus a bonus for the humour. Albion receive a reasonable start and if the draw is kind I see them putting a stop on the league leaders, Glynde will not be singing arias all the way home after a 3 2 loss. No points for the result, just about hitting a high enough note for a bonus point. Laughing Fish W have the bye and will rest on their laurels and sink a few pints to end up like a fish out of water ???? That's worth a bonus point. BigTJ - 11 points

No entries this week from Little Legs or JB.... Let's see if we can add any more points on this week.... Ric Bithell certainly deserves a bonus point for "Understatement of the Week" on the Lewes Website after the Black Horse lost 4-1 away at the Hospital Club.... "Black Horse needed a big win to keep their title hopes alive. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go to plan. (games played in reverse order) [Ric Bithell]" An excellent match report (as always) from Silent who managed to throw in a few little gems along the way.... (Two more to go this week, but no chance Wednesday )!! I will give Lana a point here for her excellent win.... and DEDUCT a point from Silent for his clear attempt to intimidate her before their match on Wednesday! **Jack (1400) 2500 - 9620 Colin - Felt for Jack as he really battled hard early moving some difficult balls without much fortune. It was still pretty close after 10 minutes as although Colin had got the break back he left the one-up short. He made no mistake in the second half of the frame giving Jack little chance and squaring the match at 2-2 Another clear example of child abuse, that's two in the same report.... a new and worrying theme for the marker to try to deal with. I will award one point to Silent for bringing this to me attention and will have to consider deducting points from Gandalf in future. Gandalf does however lose a point for "forgetting" to collect a member of his team on the way to the Hollingbury.... It meant Chris's evening went from bad to worse as somehow he had been 'forgotten' on the way to the Hollingbury and nice Mr Grumpy had to go back and get him .... no wonder poor Chris lost his game! But he can have a point back as he was clearly much happier by the end of the evening.... Mr Grumpy had become Mr Happy by the end .... and Silent can also have a bonus point as he was clearly responsible for the mood improvement as he lost the decider. For some strange reason, we then got another report on the same match from Gandalf.... .... but for some of the comments contained in the report it was certainly worth reading.... Well done to Lana who torpedoed the hopes of the geusts early on Wow.... I have never heard of a bar billiard player being topedoed during a game before, that has to be worth a bonus point! Lana will hereafter have to be known as "the submarine"! making it a lot more tricky (favorite word) for the visitors, nigel came off earlier than expected giving bob his only chance to make amends but a tricky shot behind the left 30 forced an error .... I guess you have made it tricky for me not to award you a bonus point here then? Mike tried to be generous to the sudbury maulerBlimey.... were you playing bar billiards or taking part in a wrestling competition? My money would be on the Sudbury mauler if it was the latter of those two options but I would love to know how Chelle got that nickname? You definitely earn a bonus point here and I had better also give a point to the Sudbury mauler or I could be in big trouble! Thanks to our No 1 for waiting patiently for a lift while the No4 was in deep discussion with our No 3 regarding the weekends events! and was half way to Brighton before realising that someone was missing, compounded by leaving my mobile at work,,, again Torpedoes.... tricky tables.... wrestling.... and now it looks like maybe you played Sudoko as well! Perhaps it's lucky that your No 2 and No 5 made their own way to the venue of you could still be travelling somewhere between Hastings and Brighton! No4 was in deep discussion with our No 3 regarding the weekends events! Ah yes, the weekends events. It would seem from the following post..... Congrats to Mal and big well done to Curt for his set of 3 East Anglian finals out of three. One slight tweak to how the tables were set up was not popular with all, you will probably find out how unpopular it was next year %" text=" " /> .... that you now share my view on a certain version of the game! Sadly, the rest of that post was either moderated or deleted, however I remember seeing some reference to eggs being laid and mushrooms being moved.... clearly magic mushrooms then! I think that you have certainly earned a couple of bonus points in sympathy for enduring the weekend.... That just leaves me to award a final bonus point to the "new player" that submitted that report.... .... good old Reg, always good for a laugh. Points awarded this week.... Silent: 11-1+1+1 = 12 points BigTJ: 11 points Gandalf: 4-1+1+1+1+1+2 = 9 points BB Warrior: 3+1 = 4 points Ric Bithell: 1 point Lana "Submarine" Stoner: 1 point Reg Grumpy: 1 point Sudbury Mauler: 1 point
