If you look on SCBBA website at the 20k you will see how this came about. It’s nothing to do with SCBBA it’s was started by Steve Mariner and Julian Deeprose and in recent years taken over by Kev Hall and Nigel Senior They buy the t shirts and pay for the engraving

Still i'm over the moon to have achieved a personal milestone for the 1st time and though there are only a few tables in the leagues i play that are possible 20k ers, this is the 1st season in my long BB History that i've not "tucked at 10" on the rare occasion that i've been up on the clock and on the even rarer occasion that i've even looked at the clock, so we'll hope for the best and i apologise to my opponents in advance for hogging the table once in a while until the 20k break is put to bed ... eyes and back permitting In this case my opponent Clive Minihane opened with 3000 but pegged and gave me the break back, i got 4500 missed a 50/20 split got straight back om and tucked om 15600 at the bar.

Jean Brackenridge 0 - 21,470 Martin Smith** - a majestic first 20k break from Martin, his final score being the break, great to watch - well done Smithy Been three years, although during a lot of that no bar billiards was played, but now is the time to update this thread. Congratulations to Martin Smith who last night became the 34th player to join the Sussex 20k Club with a table play out during a Worthing League match. Full list updated below.

After three years of not updating the list a second new member joins in Sussex 20k Club in 10 days. Congratulations to Mike Daw who becomes the 35th Sussex player to join the club with a 20,220 break in the Sussex Doubles. Partnering James Whittle in the Plate quarter-finals, Mike took the break in the second leg chasing just over 17k and touched up on his break shortly before the bar. Mike continued his form for the rest of the day in winning with Plate with James. PLAYER | BREAK | COMPETITION | VENUE | DATE |

As has been mentioned by Joe congratulations to Matthew Knight who became the 36th member of the Sussex 20k Club. After a few near misses recently Matt got a break of 21,840 in a Kent Open quarter-final match. Matt's break is the third highest entry on the list, however the two higher breaks were in 1993 when the list started and it is possible both Julian Deeprose and Jim Millward had lower first 20k breaks before the list started. He joins an exclusive club alongside two of the best ever players in Sussex Steve Mariner and Nigel Senior. PLAYER | BREAK | COMPETITION | VENUE | DATE |

Either though a desire to join as many clubs as possible or because he needs some new polo shirts Joe Oakley wasn't happy by just joining both 20k clubs so decided to add his name to the 25k club as well!!! Congratulations to Joe who got the second highest break in Sussex history with a 26,800 break at the Stags Head during a Worthing League match last October. Joe became the sixth Sussex player to record a 25k break joining Gareth Lloyd, Jim Millward, Kevin Tunstall, Nigel Senior and Steve Mariner. Nigel has also added a further two 25k breaks in recent weeks both in Worthing League games at the Stags Head. I believe the list was correct as of 2015 but hasn't been updated until today. If I have missed any other breaks that have been recorded between 2015 and this season let me know and I will add them to keep a complete list of 25k breaks by Sussex players. By the attempts Nigel has given this year to get my break has proved ''he's past it and they have written him off'' I was 19 year old when i got my first 20k break, 24 years old when i got 20k (off the spot) and 25 years old to get a 25k. few whippersnappers out there so watch out........ Is that also the youngest in each category?

Okay, kudos to you for fantastic post-Covid achievements and I've a feeling your best is yet to come. Let's not get carried away though by comparisons with Nigel at this stage, although I see you beat him recently in a league championship decider. To add a bit of perspective, the 20k/25k stuff is player vs the table: Nigel has proved himself in match-play at many different levels, with only the World Championship eluding him. All the other boxes (AEBBA Singles, Grand Prix, Guernsey Open, other UK Opens, Sussex Championships etc) have been ticked. Yes you won Guernsey last year, a real feather in your cap, I rate it second only as an achievement to Jersey/World Champs. Nigel though has notched up awards at other versions of the game - currently holds the trophy for "Triangles" and is top dog at Four-Pin, something that many of the top superstars have completely shunned. He's won this both in Suffolk (twice) and Northants and registered an all-time top break of 11k-plus which will probably never be beaten. And in passing let's not forget your mentor, the mighty K.T., seven-times World Champ and who at one stage had won more Opens than everyone else put together. So yes, great so far, but plenty left for you to aspire to!

The comment was not taken literal, Nigel ran over to us having a rant saying they all write him off its a joke between two friends Also I am sure a few people will aspire to take you're title and be the new undisputed Probards champion, I can think of a few..... Happy bank holiday

Was trying to be nice Joe, you should learn to take a compliment. I see now I have stepped into the middle of a bit of Worthing-Brighton rivalry. Others may have read your post too and taken it the wrong way, hence my defence of Nigel. I could never aspire to 20k, too slow due to a built-in caution mechanism. As a teenager I was getting five-figure scores, but this was knocked out of me by playing in teams of old guys in Billingshurst ..... "you try that again boy and I'll break both your legs" is a quote I can recall. At your age you are a phenomenon and I have tipped you for the Final at Surrey.

Congratulations to Chris Cox who became the 37th member of the Sussex 20k Club. Chris' recorded a break of 20,540 (exact total to be confirmed) at the Surrey Open on Sunday in his Plate semi-final victory. He was well ahead of time though out and was almost flawless until a small wobble when nearing the total; he was able to recover superbly and pass 20k before touching up with the bar due. Very slow to update but congratulations to Joe Oakley who became the third member of the 20k Off The Spot club when he got a break of 20,480 in the Sussex Off The Spot Group stages at the Roffey Club on Saturday 25th June. He joins an exclusive club alongside two of the best ever players in Sussex Steve Mariner and Nigel Senior. PLAYER | BREAK | COMPETITION | VENUE | DATE |

Has been pointed out to me that I am missing a name from this list and that Joe is the fourth person. Kevin Tunstall has recorded 20k breaks in Jersey in both 2017 and 2018 (both times against Nigel in the QFs). Will find out if there is an earlier 20k OTS break I am missing and then correct the record.

Edited 7th April to include Nigel's break in 2016 Nigel recorded the fourth highest break in Sussex history with a 26,570 at the Stags Head on 17th April in a Sussex Inter League match. This is his third 25k break at the Stags this year as he continues his quest to move ahead of Joe. With five entries in total he is now only one break behind Steve Mariner in having the most 25k breaks in Sussex.

Congratulations to Stuart Mepham who became the 38th member of the Sussex 20k Club. Stu recorded a break of 20,150 in a Brighton league match at the Stags Head. Chocie had had fallen short on occasions last season but started steady with a combination of 10, 20 and 100 splits and was on 10k in 10 minutes. He continued to tick the 1000s off and with 1minute left all he needed was 3 break shots and 1 up, which he made sure of (taken from Boball's report).
