Dun has now re-opened, went there earlier this PM. Had a chat, told the new people about H&D / BBBL teams. Top playing good as ever, had a bit of practice for H&D team plate tomorrow night. Suggest BBBL team pop in and say hi.

Seriously though I think I know why this has happened. We do have a place for a third reserve at the Railway if your interested....

1st, No not going to the Cricket club, not this year anyway!!
2nd, thank you for the offer Mick and Skip but based on ability I think if you had a fifth team I'd struggle to get a game!!
The reason for me having a sabbatical is simple, I'm a sore loser!!! ha ha ha. Not true as I've had plenty of practice over the years!!
Seriously though, I'm finding it harder to finish work at Shoreham, drive home to look after my mother who has dementia, then walk the dogs, have diner, a shower and then out. I just want a break for a while. The boys could carry on but it means one of them would have to drive and we all know that just aint gonna happen!!!! When and IF I do come back I will pick up my mantle of loser with gusto!!

I don't understand the "loser" comment as this year the Zeds improved on the year before by one place in both League and Cup ! Can empathise though with your wanting to step off the treadmill for a while.

You & the team will be missed Vern! It was always a fixture that I knew I had to step up my game & the banter/sledging was 2nd to none & never offensive or off putting in anyway. I understand Dementia more than others, I have just lost a family member after a 10yr fight & it is a tough gig! Call if you need help, I'll come running. We all hope to see you back on the baize soon buddy!

Thanks Skip, your a STAR!! yep life does throw some odd things at you, but hey!! there's a lot of people a lot worse off than me.
Obviously as the shy, retiring introvert that I am I will miss the banter and all you guys but I don't doubt I will be back along with Chunky Miller and the boys at some point.
I still hope to stay on the committee in some capacity, if only to dock points for rowdiness from you Railway boys!!!! ha ha ha

Regarding the loser quote Clive, it was in jest after the suggestion from Clacky and Skip. ha ha ha

Regarding the loser quote Clive, it was in jest after the suggestion from Clacky and Skip. ha ha ha The question is, who's the biggest loser of the two of us ? My claim: 9 mens singles finals in 4 leagues - and only won three of 'em !

Clive You've put yourself in 9 finals & the chance to win 9 titles... I'm sure some great players have never been in a final! Half full - NOT - Half empty Skippy

Drove past the Horse and it's up for sale again Freehold so the pub chain are getting out. If the table hasn't already gone then I expect it soon will be as the current people there wanted to expand the food side and use the area for other purposes

Couldn't see the place making any money in it's current state so would have been a conveyor belt of bitter skint tenants and constantly apologising to visiting opponents for lack of beer/heat/atmosphere etc. Think the time was right to relocate....
