A long time stalwart of the Tunbridge Well league Ken Forster has passed away.
Ken played for a considerable number of years in the Tunbridge Wells league and he did not often lose, sadly he has lost his battle with Cancer.
An excellent cricketer and the first all England singles champion from Tunbridge Wells
Condolences to Helen

'Only the good die young' and Ken was one of the good ones. A great player and a thoroughly nice guy. The first person I knew that actually understood the mechanics of how to make a table playable, long before I did!.

Sad news. I had the pleasure of playing Ken when he was at his best. He didn't give you any second chances. Quality player. Are there any players going to his funeral? Do we have a date and venue yet? Geoff.

Sad news indeed. I have known Ken, and of course Helen, for more than 40 years, since starting bar billiards at the Red Lion in Rusthall in the mid 1970s and have maintained contact and friendship since then. There is no doubt that if it were not for Ken, I would not have been half the player that I was in my youth, which gave me a fantastic grounding for the game, that I have gradually been throwing away ever since!! I will post more reflections in the coming days but, for now, my deepest and sincere condolences to Helen. For those not aware, the funeral is to be held at the Tunbridge Wells Crematorium on Friday 21st August at 1pm, followed by refreshments at the Indoor Bowls club at Hawkenbury.
