Despite the fact we thought everything was agreed we found out a couple of weeks ago that Wetherspoons had pulled the plug on our open without even really giving us any real reason other than it seems the extra work involved for them isn't worth the extra revenue it generates, this has obviously been a shock and kick in the teeth for us but we can now confirm
The East Anglian 4 pin Open will take place on Saturday 19th March 2016 at the Masonic Hall, North Street, Sudbury, Suffolk
The Masonic Hall is only a couple of hundred yards down the road from spoons so car parking etc. will remain the same as previous years. It is a more luxurious venue that offers us more space so we can see no problems and it is our intentions to run our open along the same lines as previous years with may be a few tweaks.
We hope to get the entry forms available on line shortly but in the mean time it would be very helpful if people who are seriously considering entering could leave their names below so we can gauge the ammount of interest which will help us with the planning of the tournament.
Thank you everyone in anticipation of your support and lets look forward to another fun day of Bar Billiards in Suffolk.
Dave

Just to let you know we should have at least six players from the Bay Horse, Al, Brendon, Jay, Jez, Steve and me It would be nice if we can get 64 players and we dont care how they are split between 3 and 4 pin players

Looks like the bay will now have seven players in the open, let's hope our other teams support the open half as well

Just thought I should mention that due the generous sponsorship again from local company Specflue along with the Masonic Hall giving us the venue free of charge it means that by the time we take into account entry fees the open will be self funding meaning we can use the day to raise money for charity.
This year we will be holding raffles and collections to raise money for DIPG.Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma is a highly aggresive disease which strikes at the heart of childhood. The prognosis is very poor and hundreds of children lose their lives to this horrific disease every year. Donations of anything we can use as raffle prizes will be gratefully appreciated, but please NO spray tans this year.

Sounds like the raffle is going to be sorted then.
Just a quick note. Although we will be taking delivery of the tables on the Friday, we wont be setting them up until the Saturday morning, so no practicing for anyone on the Friday.
We will how ever be down the Bay Horse on the Friday and invite anyone else who is down Friday to come along to the bay and try their hand at playing four pin on a narrow table, we really hope as many of you as possible will come down so you can then see just how different it is, as I'm sure the Hastings gang, England select team and the Northants mob will confirm.
Depending on how many people come down and what time they arrive we may be able to hold a mini tournament, if not just play some games and drink plenty of the great beer the bay has to offer.
It may be an idea if people could indicate on here if they intend to come along to the bay so we can get a rough idea of numbers. I should add that the bay is a couple of minutes walk from the venue and less than five mins walk from spoons.
See you all next month
Dave

Remember the closing date for entries is the end of this month, but the number of entries is limited to 64 and we're on 47 at the moment and ive been told to expect 8 more entries from four pin players this week and there is a promise of five more three pinners so that could take us up to 60 with a couple of weeks to go

As I hope everyone knows, the draw for our open has been done, but there are four byes as unfortunately 4 people have been forced to withdraw so we have 4 places left so if anyone fancies putting in a last minute entry let me know.

As always Chris Cass has done us proud with the programmes, these were posted out to all non four pin players and the single three and half pin player mid week, so hopefully if you haven't received them yet they will arrive shortly. As Chris has said the venue is in the same street as that other place where we have played before so parking is basically the same, free in the car parks but don't forget to get your ticket, please be advised that although there are no double yellow lines in the road outside the Masonic Hall parking is restricted to one hour maximum, great for you park outside and off load your donations for the raffle but no good for anything else as the traffic wardens are very unforgiving. Also don't forget for those of you who are down on the Friday night that we will be having a pre-open get together (piss up) at the Bay Horse, we plan to have two narrow tables available for you to play on so you can sample how different four pin really is when played on a good old narrow table. Looking forward to seeing you all next weekend for a fun time. Dave

As there are no comments I'm guessing no one has their programmes yet.
If you have been drawn in groups 1 - 8 please try to be at the venue by 10am ready for a 10-30 start Groups 9 - 16 should kick off at 1pm so make sure you arrive in time to register and buy me a drink
See you all next week
