• All matches shall be played on neutral tables and shall be the best of three games.
• The first break for games one and two shall be decided by the toss of a coin, with the winner having the choice of break in the first or second.
• Even breaks shall be played in the third game, the first break being decided by the toss of a coin. If the player going first has played out more than half the time, and his opponent’s opening break is still in progress when the bar drops further coins may be inserted. However the time allotted will not excess that of the first player.
• In doubles matches the player who takes the first shot for their pair in the first game shall not take the first shot for their pair in the second game, meaning the order of play shall be A-B-C-D in game one and D-C-B-A in game two. In the event of a third game the players who did not take the break for their pair in the first two games shall take the breaks.
• Players may not practise on the table on the day of the match.
• If a player is unable to play on the date shown can they please contact their opponent at the earlier opportunity and rearrange. Can they also let the Competition Secretary know the details.
• If any player/pair fails to turn up within 30 minutes of the start time of their match having not informed either their opponent or the Competition Secretary beforehand they will be eliminated from the competition unless exceptional circumstances prevailed.
• If possible can you please arrive early/stay late to score the other match played at the venue that night
• All results must be emailed to [e-mail]

Here's what happened at the Plough LB earlier this PM.

Men's singles first round: Steve beat Jim B.
                                  Jim G. beat Stuart.

Senior singles QF: as they were both there anyway, let's do it now.
                                  Jim G. beat Jim B.

All games played in the best of spirit, good evening's BB.

Here's what happened at Southwater SC earlier tonight:

A cracking contest between Boball and reigning singles champ Ricky on a really tough top which apparently got moved by the decorators and could now do with some TLC.

It went to three frames with no-one managing 3k in any of them, but with really good shots being executed for the small fry and Boball eventually running out the winner.

Derek was a "no show" (unlike him !) and I am open for further negotiations on the matter...

News received from Roffey CC:

Dick the Dude beat Steve Eely 2-0;

Dave Lennon unable to make it due to other commitments, has awarded game to Sammy (or so I understand).

Good night on a tricky Plough table with everyone except Foxy struggling with the break

Steve won a low scoring first on the last ball. Jim came back well in the second with a couple of good breaks. Steve off early in decider with Jim getting 1.5k in front. Hoppo then got going to get a 3k and a further 2k

Foxy using dirty tactics to get the win, touching up when bringing a ball back to the baulk line... think that is karma for me after doing the same thing the night before. Jim played very well while I failed to take the chances he offered at the start of each

Finally got it played at the fourth attempt !

Arrived at Southwater only to find the b-b room absolutely crammed with people - looked like an AGM of some sort with people sticking their hands up to vote. Gentlemen's agreement that we would try to play elsewhere rather than be faced with another postponement.

Arrived at the Windmill LW only to find a darts match in full swing, table covered up and being used as a drinks stand. Agreed one last throw of the dice........

Arrived at the Plough LB. Toads match in progress but Toads players very kindly allowed us to play alongside them. Conditions not ideal, as table had been moved a couple of feet to the right of normal and had a bit of a roll to the right. We decided to play come what may as time was a-ticking. Tommo won 2-0 with luck playing a large part !
