A brief reminder of the rules for this format of the game.... a) Alternate (Triangle) Rules: b) The break position for this variation is to play a ball from the centre of the 'D' to hit a triangle of six white balls. c) The triangle of balls is to be placed on the centre line between the 100 hole and the 10 hole, lead ball nearest the 100 hole, with its centre 14 cm from the centre of the 100 hole. d) Should insufficient balls be available to fill the triangle after the bar has dropped, the triangle will be built row by row from the front and right hand side. e) All shots to be played 'off-the-spot' from the centre of the 'D'. f) The black skittle will only count as a white for this competition, except for the 'last ball shot'. If all of the balls are cleared from the table at any time during the match then they are returned to the "break position" within the triangle.

had a quick practice session of "Alternate" with a few of the plough tonight, plenty of oohs and arghhs, should be fun, plenty of attempts at the 200 very likely, the key will be to keep your breaks, but can I hold my concentrate, that is the question

Laughing Fish K 3 - 2 Glynde Club
Tony Jenner 1200 v 1680 Bob Osborne Ian Lelliott 2270 v 1140 Dave White David Ingram 2570 v 1420 Colin Southouse Colleen Park 1730 v 1680 Mike Daw Jim Millward 1860 v 2640 Phil Osborne
A fun introduction to Alternate rules bb with some interesting shots played by some of the visitors, well done to Colleen winning on the last ball 200 against Mike being the pivotal game tonight possibly helped by some accidental scoring but all taken in good humour throughout. Some nice food as usual at the interval.

Many thanks to the Glynde for a very enjoyable evening.... apologies to Mike and Colleen about Terry's "interpretation" of the rules, I have no clue as to where he got the idea that the red ball didn't count double as normal?? High breaks - Bob and Colleen both got a break of 740 in their games.

I don't have the score's but..
Plough 4 - 1 Laughing Fish
Nothing went for the visitors other than Ray who is a lucky bugger. Very tough table to start alternative rules on. Home team played it well. We had a good laugh and I'd say the players to watch out for topping the rankings are not who you might expect.
