Congratulations to Jim Millward for winning the Oxon Open yesterday beating Curt Driver in the final. Here are the latter stages of the competition.... Quarter-Finals Curt Driver beat Mark Trafford Tony Cross lost to Ian Lelliott Gareth Lloyd lost to Jim Millward Gary Powell beat Dave Ingram Semi-Finals Curt ran the table out for about 16.5k to beat Ian who pegged about 3k in his reply, Curt got the balls back and Ian conceded when Curt came off. Jim broke down on 4k, Gary played the rest of the time out with 10k. Gary then broke down on 3.5k, Jim played the table out with 12k to win. Final (on "tricky" Table 8) Jim opened with 5k but was first to get the balls back and finished about 13k up although he was struggling to get the one-up in the right place. Curt whipped the one-up out on about 3k in his opening break, Jim got the balls back and came off on 2.8k, Curt did get the balls back again but missed and conceded. Plate Semi-Finals Steven Sheard beat Ian Moss Tony Jenner lost to Gerry Fitzjohn Plate Final (on "lovely" Table 5) Gerry off on around 4k, Steven played the table out (I think) and then opened with 9k and Gerry conceded. The High Break Award was won by Kevin Tunstall with 19,950 (on Table 5) and Michelle Baden (6,820) won the Ladies High Break Award. Many thanks to Mark Trafford for organising and running the day and to all of those who helped him to make it so enjoyable for all of the players.
