Following the securement of a sponsorship deal, the Horsham League are pleased to announce the return of its summer competition known as the "King & Barnes Open Doubles" last fought for in 1999. The magnificent perpetual cup has resurfaced and smart clock trophies for winning and losing finalists have already been commissioned. Entries will be accepted up to 31st March and will be open to any Pairs based in Sussex and Surrey, with all rounds being played on Horsham League tables. For the first year back entry will be FREE, with a maximum of 32 Pairs, first come first served. (There is scope for expansion next year should the competition prove popular in its first year back.) The format will be a simple knockout (as previously) and games will be played on Tuesdays, once a fortnight throughout June, July and August, whilst trying not to encroach upon Jubilee Cup, Off-the-Spot and 4-Pin activity. Condition of entry will be that competitors adhere to the set night.Lewes have a good tradition in this competition, the current holder being Spencer Copping (Horns Lodge) who partnered Gail Woods to the title in 1999. An entry form is attached HERE: Attachment DeletedEntries can also be submitted through the medium of the Forum, by PM'ing me a completed form. One more week to enter Horsham's (free) King & Barnes Open Doubles competition. I am putting reminders up on the various boards where an interest has been shown: Quote: Competition will be underway a month later (31st May/1st June) and I would like to publicise draw 3 weeks in advance. Even if we get just five more pairs entering that will form a reasonable basis for reinstatement of this flagship event !
