Well, another season over, and unlike last year's Finals Night we all got away before midnight - just !
Some snippets in advance of Mr Tidy's official report.......
In an evening of contrasts,
- The Silver Fox retained the Mens Singles title, whilst we have a new Ladies Champion in Vicky Timson (she beat Sam Short, playing her third final in four years).
- Second Division team beat First in both Team Cup and Plate: Limeburners beat Railway 3-2, and the Mighty Stout House A beat The Mill 3-2.
- Steve Eely partnering Dave Lennon pulled off a Mens Doubles win, whilst teaming up with Lin Lennon for Mixed Doubles could only manage runners-up, to now 7-times Champions John and Angela Thayre.
- The Ron Child Memorial Award went to Three Bees' long-serving member John Tudhope whose 16 wins from 17 represented the highest percentage in either division.
- And an excellent buffet was provided by the Alfold Club.
I will be adding more, both here and on the website, with some scores and photos, where obtained !

Jim Greensted holds the Highest Break and Highest Score awards....earlier he had beaten his teammate to retain the Singles title. .....talking of whom, Mens Singles runner-up Dave Howlett. Having both singles finalists capped a successful year for Roffey SSC as they had recaptured the League Championship. Apologies for no Railway, Stout House or Three Bees snaps - I saw some being taken so hopefully these will be provided by another source. It should be added that an otherwise enjoyable event was slightly marred by one of the tables being virtually unplayable (either set up to be shockingly downhill, or maybe a problem with the cushions, but none of the four players able to get anywhere near a standard break shot). This caused a hiatus in the Pairs Final at 1-all and a switch to Table 3, and the Mens Singles Final being switched to table 2.

It was such a deflating scenario of the 2 doubles tables being about 2-3 inches in contrast... One table I could have skied down & used the other as a chair lift back up! Tut Tut...

Hi Everybody
For the fourth time this year the Mighty A Team have been truly mighty by winning the Team Cup Plate Final
The Mill 2, Stout House A 3
The Mighty A Team had the opening break in games 1, 3 and 5
Alan Downs 2050, Yours Truly 3170
A slow start was made by both players on a slow table, but fortunately two decent breaks towards the end of the game gave me a lead
Mick Holmwood 3180, Tony Clasby 4400
Tony made the table look easy with a 2k opening break, after that he was always in control
Barry Timson 3930, James Norman 2470
A close game and towards the end James caught up and took a narrow lead, but Barry was able to win the game by getting the break back at the end of the game
Johnny Haigh 2780, Brian Marten 3380
Another close game with the lead changing throughout. At the end of the game Brian was about 600 points behind, but finished the game. Unlike the Semi Final a few weeks earlier, we did not have the drama of a 200 hole finish, Thank God
Vicky Timson 2560, Barry Lawson 1770
A close game, but Vicky with the confidence of being the Ladies Singles Champion controlled the game
An excellent match played in the right spirit
Best Wishes
