I received a text from Dave Jones at 6.30 tonight to say that he did not have a team for the second leg scheduled for tonight Very disappointing to be given less than 2 hours notice, especially as the venue had prepared food for the match. Hopefully the match will be rearranged very soon.... I am very sorry to postpone the match at short notice but I was let down by two players at the last moment. I did try to get other players but with the short notice I could not get anyone.

Know Swan Nomads v White Hart has been arranged for Thursday week. Is there any date for Duke v Smugglers?? Am very aware we are getting towards the deadline of 31st of July am happy to allow to Thursday 4th August but no later. Will have to make a decision on this if no arrangement is made soon to set a date. I think the onus is on the Smugglers having cancelled the last game at short notice. Sorry to have to push this but I need to know so those involved can have time to arrange the final

Duke of Wellington 5-0 Smugglers **C.Tupper 6150 - 1300 D.Jones M.Knight 11,420 - 1330 T.Stringer** J.Millward 4190 - 3220 Andy Farmer-Wright** **J.Brackenridge 7970 - 3380 S.Hurley D.Ingram 9000 - b/p K.Hurley** Managed to re-arrange for tonight, thanks to Dave and Jim who worked wonders in a short period of time to make Nigel's old Wellie table as good as it has been for ages. Despite Dave's efforts I took the liberty of "upsetting" him at every opportunity for the rest of the evening It might have had something to do with the nomination for the decider.....he wasn't bitter The banter was flowing all night Gina did us proud with an enormous spread of food, that went down very well. Look forward to the final

Swan Nomads 1 - 4 White Hart. 9-1 on aggregate. Please could somebody provide the scores from this game as Sussex ranking points are awarded to players in the Watney Mann Competition.

A superb performance by the home team to give them a well deserved and comprehensive win on the night. A nice spread of rolls provided by the venue, the White Hart looking really good after the recent re-fit. One quirky fact is that a new Watney Mann record was set tonight with my score (8,170) being the highest losing score by an away player with the break in the history of the competition, narrowly beating the previous record of 8,130 by Henry Brooks who lost to Nigel Senior at the Black Horse Rottingdean in 2013.... although I am not sure that it is a record that I really want! The return leg will be at the Albion Fishersgate on Thursday 1st September.

A hard fought match with the home team getting close to overhauling the 5-0 deficit from the first leg, Martin the hero for the visitors with a good 5k plus break when it mattered to take the second leg and seal the overall win. Another enjoyable competition this year and many thanks to Tony Jenner for organising and running it, good luck to the White Hart when they represent Sussex at Oxford in the national finals.
