Many thanks for the late entries to this competition, it has most certainly helped - although we are still quite a bit lower in number than was anticipated based on the early commitment shown by the 'Open regulars' when this competition was still at discussion stage.
Of course, your 'Get out of jail free' card is that this Open will inevitably clash with summer holidays for some given where it is in the calendar - we expected that to some extent.
Anyway, we still have a few hours to accept entries so I thought I would use this opportunity to chase some of those 'Regulars' with a hope of either including them into the draw (which will take place in the coming days) or confirming their non-attendance.
Does anyone know anything about whether the following people (who we had down as 'possibles') are able to make it as they are yet to respond on this:
Pete Sainsbury Vinnie Mitchell Richard Corbould
Ian Lelliott - Confirmed Martin Cole - Confirmed Kevin Hall Jean Brackenridge Alan Brackenridge Ros Appleby - Confirmed Jim Greensted Martin Smith Denise Wills Rob Jones - Confirmed
Lee Radford Barry Radford Tony Webster
Dave Alder Phil Hawkins Paul Sainsbury
Leon Beer Ian Moss - Confirmed Tony Martin - Confirmed Colin Martin Geoff Powell Phil McFarland
Phil Griffin - confirmed
Please respond as soon as possible with any updates on the friends above.
After a late flurry of entries prior to the notified deadline we are approaching the kind of numbers that we had anticipated - this is in large part thanks to many who have not entered competitions before. We are immensely grateful to all entrants and will do everything we can to ensure that the 'first timers' (from our own county and from other places like York) have a great time!
Sadly, we have not heard back from everyone that had previously expressed some interest and we now know that there are also a couple of others that have not been able to make the commitment of time yet, but may be able to do so in the coming days.
As result we have decided to postpone the draws for these two competitions and accept entries for a further few days. Hopefully this will help boost the numbers further.
The revised, and final, deadline for entries is now midnight on Sunday 7th August,
I hope that this gives adequate time for those who are yet to enter to make the necessary arrangements - but I would ask this, if you can assist by contacting those listed above (and others) to have a final sweep of possible entries that would be very much appreciated. I fully recognise that not everyone uses this forum.
Further details on the draw will be posted here in the coming days.
I think Northants and sudbury rules are similar, no games start unless you've got a beer Northants comp, Northants rules
It will very much be something like that!!
For the most part they will be 'Sudbury friendly' with one or two small tweaks. I will post details when I can. Likely to be tomorrow morning now.
The only, perhaps unusual rule that we have included (albeit this is for both the 4-pin & the 3-pin competition is that if you are drawn against a Northants player - they immediately get a head start of as many thousands as is represented by a droll of the dice!!!
I heard Northants players have to play one handed whilst standing on one leg with their back to the table apart from the break shots where they must also close both eyes and balance a pint of beer on their head, but that's about the norm
