Semis Mark but Ian KT by Gareth
In the final, Mark opened with 700, I played the bar out for 15k and opened with another 4K in the second. Thanks so much to Simon, Steven, Jason, Michelle & Sophie for a well run weekend. The venue was brilliant, the landlord & landlady very friendly, all the staff too. Food excellent and the drink prices very good. There was also an amazing raffle, loads of good prizes. Already looking forward to next year's competitions 😀

Just a quick but huge thank you to all in Northants for the weekend of BB just gone. Venue and admin were great, Rob and his staff at the Cock Hotel were superb, and the tables generally played well even if the timers didn't! The Northants team must all be as exhausted as Elvis looked but be assured that it was well worth it!

Echo what has been said about the venue: Superb, spacious and excellent prices. Congratulations to KT on a slightly overdue success (Hope he won't mind me saying that) and also to the other star performers of the weekend. Don't know what TJ and JW made of our guest house, but my room was clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the big breakfast served by the Chuckle Brothers which included four rashers of bacon..... Good to see the York boys getting into the swing of it and hope they gained something from the weekend. That 15-year old lad looks a natural player, definitely a future champion in the making. Thanks once again for the successful return of the Northants Open. tommo

Wow..... I want to say I'm relieved that the weekend is over, but its been like a 12 month process to get this event back on the map, and glad we are too!
Just like to once again thank everyone for coming to both the Saturday and the Sunday, but especially to a few who helped with organising, obviously Nigel who without, I don't think anyone could work out the spreadsheets!!! Curt Driver who helped with getting the York players down, and also Kevin Tunstall who helped with arrangement and making sure the tables played well. Also thanks to the pub who without, this event would never be on the calendar!
Also thanks to Tommo for the update, i was going to try and put it all on the forum but couldn't find time.
Congratulations to Kevin Tunstall on winning his second Northants Open, who actually spent most of his day behind, but managed to come back and win with some great breaks. From the last sixteen he was 7k down with 8 to go and won that, quarter finals he was 16k down and won that, semi final Gareth Lloyd put in a great break of just under 18k and he pulled that back, and then in the final Mark missed early and he just showed his form on the day to not let Mark back in until the final was over.
Also congratulations to Ian Street who not only won the plate on the Saturday but also the Sunday, just adding to Northants list of plate wins!
We got a lot of positive feedback over the weekend so would hope that we can run a similar event next year, obviously the only downside being so close to the Bucks and Berks, so maybe at the AGM this year we could maybe look at a re-schedule of the calendar to try and keep all these competitions running and well attended.

Also congratulations to Ian Street who not only won the plate on the Saturday but also the Sunday, just adding to Northants list of plate wins! Big up to Ian Street, he was always good when previously based in Sussex. But relocates to Northants and catches Plate-itis from Damo ! Who did he beat in Sunday's final ? (Info needed for the Timeline)

For the completists amongst us, here is what the file for the first Northants 4-Pin would look like if ever it were put on the AEBBA website: 2016Northants4-Pin.xlsx (95.26 KB) (Ignore the RPs as they were not awarded in its first year and would only have a bearing in the 4-Pin world.)

Interesting reading Tommo.... especially the Ranking Points! I am sure that you have applied those correctly, but it looks strange that the runner-up ended up with more points than the winner? That is something that the AEBBA Ranking Point Committee needs to look at when they discuss the points for the season ahead as I know that we always try to ensure that the winner has more points than the runner-up and that then cascades downwards as far as possible. I have started the ball rolling for the review for this year with an email that I have just sent to the other members of the Committee and can confirm that the 2017 Northants / AEBBA 4-pin competition will be on the agenda to discuss.

Yes, that's the first time it has happened, to my knowledge. I followed the guidelines which give score bonuses that go up in increments of 500 for four-pin and C.S. had many of these in the lead up to the final. And when it came to the final Hammy handed out a serious thrashing to C.S. so I agree that somewhere an adjustment would seem appropriate. But for this event, it's hypothetical anyway !
