Well done to Sandy and his team of helpers on a fantastically run event and what a superb location to have it thanks to all at the Jenny Lind who looked after us all day. Nice to see good numbers there to the end I was lucky enough to win the main event in a rerun of last year's final against Sandy after he had knocked out Gandalf in the semis and well done to Roy winning the plate against our future star Jamie. Well done to all again and for keeping the game going in the town. Regards PO

Yes a great day of bar billiards at the Jenny, thanks to Keith and Linda for their support through the day and to the jemmy staff who kept us supplied with ample nibbles and booze all day
Special thanks to sandy for running the event and organising the extra tables and sorting out a few mishaps on the way
Well done to Phil on his win, looked good and scored aplenty all day
and a special sorry to Jamie who came second in the plate after a scoring error on my part in the final, resulting in a replay of the second game which he lost. I wont forget that in a hurry

Open and finals report from Andy Ellison
Hastings Bar Billiards League held it's end of season competition finals and Presentation Evening at the Jenny Lind last week. Although only in it's third year in this format, the one-day open proved a great success with four tables operating for most of the day. Colin Southouse set the standard for the day with an amazing total of 27140 in the two frame format in his quarter-final against the luckless Mick Reilly. He may have wished to have saved some of that score for later however, as he was edged out in the semi-final by League Secretary Sandy Harmer. Meanwhile in the other half of the draw, holder Phil Osborne made steady progress including beating father Bob and Mick Osborne before seeing off the challenge of Dave White in the second semi-final. Phil proceeded to record the second 20000 plus score of the day in the final, to see off Sandy's challenge and retain the title. In the plate competition semi-finals Roy Harmer won in a close encounter against Steve McGill whilst Jamie Minihane recorded a landmark victory against Bob Osborne. Roy then had to draw upon his vast experience to overcome the challenge of Jamie, the League's youngest player.
On finals night Colin Southouse resumed his scoring feats in the Captains Cup, with opponent Nick Speight having to stand and watch as Colin played out the 18 minutes of the table unchallenged in the second leg. Roy Harmer secured the over 50s title against Stewart Chant in the final. Two other finals went to Clive Minihane, with a win in the Handicap event against Tom Palmer and finally victory over Mark Bailey in the Lower Averages Trophy. The award for most improved player went to son Jamie Minihane.
League and Rix Cup trophies were presented to Ashburnham Arms whilst the Handicap League winners were Royal Albert. Old King John were runners-up in all three competitions.
Thanks from all participants and the League go to hosts Linda and KC Challis who also participated in the playing activities.
