Three weeks away. Eight days left to enter. So far only five entries. Might help if we had an entry form ?

As none of the Berkshire committee has access to this forum I have been asked to update the list,
Just to bring you all up to date, last year I resigned from doing anything with the Berkshire open, it was left with a committee to run it this year.
I have to say it has been a disappointment. With numbers so low it may not be possible to run it. I will speak with the committee this weekend coming.
I never received any help from Berkshire when I ran it, it seems there is a continuation of this process, the 'ghost' committee are virtually invisible.

I'm sure there will be an interest, Dave: Many people will leave entering until the day of the preceding Open (in this case Northants).
The date and venue have been displayed on the calendar all year, the apparent shortage of entries at this moment in time is probably down to the lack of an official entry form.
I'd doctor up last year's form for you, but it would show your address (not much good if as you say, you've resigned from running it).

You have always been a brick here Dave and done more than your fair share I feel numbers are low due to lack of publicity, one of the committee could have joined the forum to publicise this and drummed up support or found other means of communication. I feel that Clive's offer is too late and it cannot go to Dave as he is taking a well earned holiday abroad. It is a shame - and this slot could have gone to another county if it does not go ahead e.g. Northants ? Maybe the ghost committee should decide whether they wish to relinquish the date ? Thanks Dave for all previous Berks Opens truly appreciated. Chris x

Thanks Warrior,
If someone's there at Northants to accept last-minute entries I'll probably give it a go.

Here is a copy of a blank entry form that I got at one of the Opens this year.... which I think shows the correct address for entries to be sent to, although it is probably too late now? View AttachmentIt would be sad to lose this Open and disappointing that the Committee appear not to have contacted anybody to try to get more entries. I had to send my entries to Janet Burns and not David Lawton on the above entry form. Does anyone know who is on the Berkshire committee ? It would be a good idea if someone contacts them directly as not on the forum ?? Curt

....except the one that Oxon ran for you ! Well that is great, as at least someone did something for Dave which is rare and none of us ever do usually - and he ( bless him ) does everything for ALL OF US

I am sure there will be a fair few people who would like to enter. I am sure that you will get a good 30+ entries at the Northants Open at the weekend.

Maybe Curt, Phil Hawkins might know as our President whom is on the committee ? I've emailed Phil but as he never emails anything in regards to anything AEBBA related I'm not holding my breath. There must be someone out there who has a contact number for the members on Berks committee?? If so can they please make the call and confirm they are all committed to running this comp ?? It would be a real shame if we lost this one . Curt

I have Myra & Phil's home number if you need it - message me if you want it. I did speak to Myra yesterday and I THINK they are having a meeting at the weekend as to whether this goes ahead or not. She did say they are looking for at least 50 entries for it to go ahead, and they were going to see if any more entries came in on Sunday at Northants.

I have suggested leaving it until Sunday to make that decision as there may be entries made at Northants?? Some come on people. Get your entries in and help to keep this competition going . Curt

Attachment DeletedI have just emailed a copy of the entry form to all of the contacts that I have and would ask that if you do intend to enter the competition, please can they send these off AS SOON AS POSSIBLE bearing in mind that a decision will be made as to whether to run this competition or not THIS WEEKEND. It may be an idea to email Janet a copy of your entry form to enable the Berkshire Committee to have a better idea of the numbers that do wish to play. Come on everybody.... let us try to save this Open!

Thanks Dave, I know I am probably being stupid (again) but what happens to the entry money if the Open doesn't go ahead.....is it returned in the same form it was sent?? Hello Matthew, you would need to ask Janet Burns that question as I am not involved in any of the actual organisation of the event, all I am trying to do is get as many entries as possible to try to avoid the competition being cancelled at all. My initial reaction would be that any payments received should be returned to the person that sent in the entry forms as that would seem to be the logical conclusion....
