The Railway Club v Albion C @ The Romans Brian 2840 v 7070 Stuart Steve 2990 v 5430 Geoff Colin 400 v 6670 Mark Sheena 630 v 10,020 Grant no player v w/o Jim 0 - 5 Unfortunately The Railway only had 4 players tonight, but a good result for the Albion with a nice curry laid on by The Romans at the end. Jim was in his element as there was a Christmas party on down there with Rat Pack music being played all night and Jim was singing his head off !!!!

Hikers Rest B v Hollingbury A Hikers have conceeded this game as Phil Reay was the only person who turned up. This table runs for 23mins 20 secs. Once again it has been wound up to more than the 20 mins limit by Brighton League, Sussex and All England Rules. This table has consistently been running over 20 mins for something like two seasons now.It is not rocket science. This is a disgrace and needs to be sorted out.

Hikers Rest A 3-2 Albion Fishersgate A...at Railway Club Kev H 5270 - 3080 Rick Alan b/p - 6950 TJ Kev S 3030 - 3960 H Bella 3710 - b/p Matt Sandra 4140 - 2700 Joe Another victory opportunity slips away This after a brilliant second leg from TJ, his opening break more than everyone's total score except Kev in the first leg. H then put us 2-1 up but good legs from Bella and Sandra gave the Hikers the win. There will be no competition for the "most woeful leg ever played" trophy this season....it was well and truly sealed by the captain in leg 4 Well done to the Hikers and good luck in the next round, I think the food went down well (probably the only thing I managed to get right all night)

Colin, as one of the owners of this table which is also one of my own home venues, I must say that I find your comments above both insulting and factually incorrect. For the last 2 seasons, the bar as ALWAYS dropped at between 19 minutes 47 seconds and 19 minutes 53 seconds, WITHIN the All England Rules so I have NO IDEA why you would say that it has been running over 20 minutes?? Your statement that it has been running outside the rules (and implication that this has been done deliberately) are the disgrace. Yes, there is currently a problem with the timer on the table which we found at our last home match, when we found that the bar was dropping at just under 22 minutes (not the 23 plus minutes that you have stated).... but we did not have amy tools with us to adjust the clock at that time so unfortumately it was the equivalent of rocket science! We do not know what has caused the clock to now run longer than it should, possible the table has been knocked or moved when the items that are stored underneath it by the pub owners were taken out although we have asked them to store those elsewehere. The problem will be resolved before our next home match and I would ask that you contact me direct should you experience any problems with this table in the future rather than shooting your mouth off here.

We are all trying for our 18 minutes or whatever of fame but in the end it is about enjoying the night and as usual a great night with the Hikers.
Christmas break now, everyone have a great Xmas and a prosperous New Year
(sorry for the awful last leg as usual i let the team down)

Just for the record, Jim Millward has told me this morning that Steve Mariner went down to the Albion last night and changed a broken bolt on the timing mechanism, Steve says the table was running about 19 minutes when he left the pub so we will check it later to see how long it os running now.

Love all the arguing on here. Please let it continue.
In other news...... Plate competitions are for losers of first round. If you don't turn up for first round of any comp you are out. So my reckoning is Mont A may already be in semi finals. This is not good times, would rather let the other 2 back in with a rule change submitted next year if needed? Thoughts on this.
BB Warrior.... sort your bloody table out :)

Confused. Is there now 8 teams in the second round and 3 in the plate. Or was the first round a preliminary and the losing 4 can enter the plate making 7 with a bye in the first round. But can you win the first game and still go into the plate. Or is it the 3 teams that had a bye can only get into it as they didn't have a chance to lose the first one. Please clarify for me as I shall be having bad dreams.

Just to add to the time of tables friendly discussion, surely the home team , within reason sets their table up to suit their style of play, I ve played crap teams on crap tables and good teams on good tables. The Albion team have always taken the clock to the limit because it suits their team, in this instance there was obviously a fault and this has been rectified, end of.Moving on I must commend TJ on his comments in consoling the distraught Matt, true sportsmanship and In my humble opinion deserving of a trophy at the end of the season.

If the Wellie wins that leaves Mont A v Railway plate final.

They can both go in the plate if they lose there next match as they had walkovers and didn't play. Got it now. If you get a bye or a walkover in the preliminary round, you didn't get the chance to lose, so the next round is really the first round. I think it was the organic lemon in the coke that addled my brain. Or just old age.
