Montreal A v Albion Fishersgate C
The postponed game was finally played tonight.... with the league title at stake.
Gary Mechan 6,250* - 4,870 Jim Millward
Gary off early and Jim got the balls straight back.... but missed his split and came off, Gary made a good 5k break and Jim was then battling time, he did get the break back but missed on about 2.5k before finishing the game off. 1-0
Mark Scott 11,420* - 2,620 Geoff Jukes
Moppy opened with just over 3k but was first to get them back (ask him about the fluke shot that missed the ball on the way up but went in off into the 100 hole on the way back!
) and he then made sure with a solid 5k plus break to take the win, both had a go at the break after that before the end. 2-0
So, for the second time in a couple of weeks we found ourselves 0-2 down to the Montreal and the nerves were definitely jangling....
Steve Burns 3,010* - 7,710 Grant Tully
Steve off at about 1k, superb 3 ball clearance shot from Grant to get the balls back and he made a really good 6.6k break to get in control of the match, nice break from Steve towards the end. 2-1
Bob Mechan 0* - 8,400 Dave Ingram
Bob off early and I got the break back, very lucky to stay on when I caught my first split (50/10) miles too thin and watched the cue ball just miss the pegm bounce off the back cushion and go in the 100 hole.... decided that potting could be the safer option after that and made sure with 7.4k. The balls went very awkward after that with Bob taking the BP with the last ball. 2-2
No pressure on the last game then.... with our decider specialist putting his 100% winning record on the line to win the league this season....
DJ Robins 2,430* - 5,480 Stuart Mepham
DJ off on just over 1k, Stuart first to get them back and made 2.5k. Stuart break back again and extended his lead with another 1.5k before making sure with another 1k.... and staying well away from the black peg after that!
Very enjoyable evening, both games with the Montreal have been really close this year and a nice spread of food laid on as well.
