10 from Sussex, 7 from Kent, 3 from Surrey, 1 from Berks and 1 from Bucks by the closing date .....
Presumably you got a whole rack of entries yesterday, Pete, otherwise I can't see this one going ahead !

Tommo Unfortunately not, now got only 35 entries (possibly 36 depending on 1 further person confirming). Probably close the entry and play groups like the world champs. This will most likely be the last one as we will make a big loss. (unless anyone wants to sponsor a table or 8)

Sounds like you're making the best of a bad job, Pete.
Apologies for raising the subject, but you had 55 last year and this year many of the 'usual suspects' do not appear in the line-up. You are not alone, a general apathy seems to be prevalent.

Hi all
Just to keep you all informed. Nigel is looking at a schedule to possibly play in groups. Will let you know the outcome early next week. Draw will take place Tuesday/Wednesday next week.
I can also confirm that we have sponsors for 5 tables which is much appreciated.

Hi all
Suggestion from Nigel on possible scheduling
"37 entries would be 5 groups of 5, 3 groups of 4, total 68 games. Could fit them into 9 series so a 10.30 start would equate to a 5.15 finish
If you make top two in each group to go through last 16 say 5.30 start, quarter finals (if you want all 3rd place players to go in a plate they could join here - 6.15, semis 7.00, final 7.45
Not sure if you would consider that too late a finish (ie 8.30)
Alternatively
Group games 1 leg but I think they would have to be equal timed breaks to say 8.5 minutes as 2 winning opening breaks against you would put you out.
But this would mean around 2.30 for start of main last 16, you could have everyone then go in the plate single legs to get to last 8. 4pm for quarters, 4.45 semis, 5.30 final....
option 1 is a bit long and we will have to play 8 double games out of 14 series which is a lot. Option 2 is ok we would have to be comfortable with single legs in groups but if we choose this we would have to make each leg at least an equal break and opportunity game for each player"
My preference would be for option 1 but possibly an earlier start. I have set up a separate thread for comments or you can send a pm if you prefer.
Pete

I'm happy to go with either format, and also am perfectly happy with an early starting time.
