Before i go to the draw..... Start time will be 10.30, couple of reasons why... because of only a couple of local matches i could have put on early, starting at 10,30 will allow me to put some of our closer entrants on in the first series without them having to get up too early! Hope this will be ok with everyone. Estimated final start time is 6pm
So, the draw and it's a cracker! Draw done by Ian Gordon & Alan Richards, so no moaning to me! (Pauline, you can give Ian a slap later!)
Good Luck predicting some of the quarter-finalists!

Start times have now been added. If anyone has a (sensible) problem with their time, please let me know asap.
Jenny Florey has now withdrawn, so i do have a space if there is anyone who would like to play last minute.
Regards Mark

Well done to Keith Sheard on winning the Open today, beating Mark Trafford in the final. Congratulations to Keith on his win today, commiserations to Mark but still a great effort to reach the final when he was also running the day! A big thank you to Mark and all involved in organising and running the competition again this year, it is always a great day.

Well that is another Oxon Open done with!
Many congratulations to Keith Sheard in winning the 25th Oxon Open, beating me in the final (git!)
Thanks to all those that helped me on the day and with setting up the tables.
Here are the latter stages :-
Main QF
Keith Sheard 20,670 - 8,730 Ian Lelliott Steven Sheard 17,010 - 12,900 Simon Coleman - Simon 11k up with break to come..... Mark Trafford 18,130 - 14,850 Phil Osborne - Phil runs out 1st leg with 14,850, Mark responds with 18,050 (day's high break) Martin Smith 19,590 - 5180 Colin Southouse
Main SF
Keith Sheard 21,250 - 1880 Steven Sheard Mark Trafford 17,910 - 3690 Martin Smith
Main Final
Keith Sheard 23,020 - 5290 Mark Trafford - Keith opens with 16k, finished off with a bit more for 17.4k lead. Mark missed 1-up on 5k = game over!
Plate QF Dave White 6010 - 5360 Pete Soanes Tony Cross 8150 - 5610 Allan Lacey Curt Driver 13,390 - 9160 James Whittle Mark James 10,020 - 2220 Matt Knight
Plate SF Tony Cross 12,880 - 7380 Dave White Curt Driver 13,590 - 9570 Mark James
Plate Final Tony Cross 18,830 - 18,630 Curt Driver. Curt runs first leg out with 18,450 Tony missed on 15k, got them back and was 100 up with last ball and sinks it! Question is, if he would have missed, would Curt have gone for the draw or win...?
Pauline Withey tooks the Ladies high break with 6,640 in her game with Kevin Tunstall.

Wow! What can I say? I've been floating on air (on cloud 9 or is it 7?) since Sat after one of the biggest surprises of my life. This was the first time I'd played since the Kent Open in July last year and was abysmal in that and vowed not to enter Opens in 2017, so how glad I am to have had a change of mind and played in this one. My last major tournament win was in the 2013 Berk's Open when I had to play Mark in that Final too and the only time I'd won this before was in 1995 against KT. I started my 1st Rd match against Sid Ponting thinking that I'd made the wrong decision because with 15min's gone I had no score on the board but then it all changed and from then on I didn't look back as I was feeling confident in my ability again. (surprising what a few beers do for me!) The tables were great except for table 9 but Henry B & myself both played well on there with Henry unluckily losing a 3k brk when closing in on my lead. The last three tables I played I thoroughly enjoyed and were just what the doctor ordered!! Thanks to Mark for organising the day and to making it to the final and to my drinking partners for making this day a very memorable one for me. See you all for the next one. Keith

Well done Keith! Lovely to see you do the business. Despite a struggle (albeit I was happy with how we both played) on a table 9, it was a great day. Thanks to Mark for all his hard work and it was lovely to make an open for the first time in years despite not getting very far.
