Great and wonderful evening again at the Montreal. Unfortunately Big Gaz had to leave early but left the home team two nil up. Mop took over and put on the best sausage roll maker in Sussex to make it 3-0. A bit tits-up after that as the Scottish chicken and chips took over and crap on the jukebox. 3-2 final result. I will leave Matthew to provide more details about the games and will only say that there were plenty of chances in some fairly bizarre games....
A very nice curry with rice and chips provided.
Game 1 - one of THE greatest legs ever played Geoff was cruising but there was an inexplicable peg to lose his opening 6k. Silent tried to get them back (failed woefully) Geoff got them back (missed the ball completely) Silent tried to get them back (failed woefully) 15 mins gone it was 400 - 600 approx....Geoff's third break sealed it with a still cruising 1k
Game 2 - Rick was off early, Stu was not on a going day as the pegs got in the way Rick got 7k in front, Stu had half a chance but another peg got in the way and Rick finished off to continue his good form
Game 3 - Dave very comfortable but howls of disapproval (from certain quarters) when a split went in the "wrong" hole via the 100 pocket then a surprise miss. Joe nice clearance and going well but missed spilt (thick), came off similar to Dave. The Warrior added a few more before Joe finished off
Game 4 - Henry off on 2.8k, not helped by someone getting very close to the table. GT very solid 7.5k with a professional leave when missing (one in the middle) H pegged and was too late when he got them back.....still having some troubles with the table
Game 5 - What can you say?? This was bizarre, Jim missed twice on the break with shockingly woeful splits, also got a brilliant 10k break (when he never looked like missing), in between TJ got the break back with a very nice clearance and was really going well before our usual thick split was costly
It was definitely bizarre, there was a splash of brilliance, definitely a sprinkling of banter but most of all a brilliant night. Well done to the Sees on their win but (again) it could have been so different
Hollingbury B 3 Hikers Rest A 2. A partial return to form for some and a very pleasant night spent in wonderful company ( we ve only got the sportsman trophy left ). Alan started off missing a few but got a 3.5 break midway , D ave had a chance but could not get there. 0 - 1 Mike on with a 4K break, lots of on and off with chances for Little Legs , but Mike over the line 1 - 1 Bella on next , bit of mucking about then she gave KT the break back after an unlucky split attempt never an action to be recommended, KT 7K and touch.2 - 1 Tupps off with a superb 6.5k , not quite enough but too much for Kevin on the night. 3 - 1. Sandra gave me a fine old thrashing, which I both deserved and enjoyed. 3 - 2. The new surroundings at the Hollingbury are ok if no darts but this may be a problem further down the line, table settling in and has its moments.
