The Albion Fishersgate trophy cabinet must be bursting at the seams, as Jim Millward's Off-the-spot won on Sunday will now be followed by the King & Barnes Open Doubles Cup - won tonight by Matt Knight and Joe Oakley: Game 1. Silent and Joe 8930 (Joe 8470 break), Kev and Bob Hall 3770 1-0 Game 2. Kev and Bob 12,560 (Kev 8720 break), Matt and Joe 270 1-1 Game 3. Matt and Joe 3640 (Silent missed ball on 3.5k) Kev and Bob 2780 2-1 Game 4. Kev and Bob 4500, Matt and Joe 3580 (table becoming slow at the back) 2-2 ....all square and so on to the decider: Game 5. Kev and Bob 2140, Matt and Joe 6540 (Joe riding his luck a bit but nailing it with a good break towards the end) 2-3 A boisterous evening, with a Hall and Woodhouse beer and cheese tasting going on in the other bar. Mark Woodhouse presented the prizes and then joined in the fun to represent Dorset in an Inter-County friendly challenge to Barry the landlord. Many thanks to those who turned out to watch and especially to Adam Kuzimski who scored all but one of the games. Hopefully the competition will be repeated next year with an increase in the line-up, now that H & W with their sponsorship have halped to get it up and running again. Last year's finalists Yes, it's nearly that time again ! Watch this space for entry form for 2017.

14 days to the close date........ Response so far has been sparse, in view of this it has been resolved to change this to a FOUR PIN competition.

With tomorrow the closing date for entries, and even allowing an extra fortnight to get the monies in from the "interesteds", it is looking increasingly unlikely that this competition will be going ahead this year.
A policy decision will be made on Tuesday, when I meet with some members of the committee. If it gets the "thumbs down" any entry fees will be returned a.s.a.p.

It would be a shame if this does not run after making it's return last year, lets hope we have some interest even if we give it another fortnight.

This Competition cancelled this year due to no further interest shown since the above statement. Many thanks to the few who did try to enter, your cheques have not been banked and will be returned to you a.s.a.p. Maybe we'll give it a go next year.......

What a shame, having not been able to enter last year due to holiday commitments, I had been looking forward to being able to play this year. Hopefully the last line does not refer to when the cheques will be returned!!!

The holders are delighted to have retained their crown for another year Dave, it was a real shame you didn't play last year as Matt and Joe would have liked to have beaten you and your partner on the way to winning the title (I'll be in BIG trouble [again] for that)

The holders are delighted to have retained their crown for another year Since it would appear that the "holders" did not actually enter the competition this year (they are only shown on the "interested" list) does it actually mean that they have retained their crown with honour or simply by default? Dave, it was a real shame you didn't play last year as Matt and Joe would have liked to have beaten you and your partner on the way to winning the title Yes, I am sure we would have had a good game but sadly my holiday dates last year conflicted with 3 of the confirmed dates that the games needed to be played on so it was not possible.... hopefully next year the competition will be played again. (I'll be in BIG trouble [again] for that) I guess that we are both in the naughty corner (again) now Matthew.....

Whilst Silent and Joe were worthy champions, a potent threat would come from 6-times winners Tupps and Marmite - should they ever be tempted to enter again.
