When the top-of-the-league team plays the bottom-of-the-league team you expect a certain outcome. Well Labour won the general election last night with a dogged performance on a traditionally tricky table. I took the first against Ian after a bit of toing and froing before Steve took a closer win against Colin. Martin was six up with six minutes to go when Jon played an excellent game to come back at him. I was well up on Ian in the fourth but he came back with a good break to give him an unassailable lead but disaster struck as he was thinking of tapping on. A ball whipped from the RH 20 and accelerated towards the white, JUST toppling it. Back luck Ian. That put the onus on Steve, with the break on fifth and he went off with a steady near 8K break which proved enough and victory was ours. Jon took a consolation point in the sixth. So proud of my team after a diabolical season and back luck to the Lion. Lovely scampi and chips to follow washed down with some really expensive whiskey!

I think winning the toss was a big win for us tonight as nobody could get on with the table. The white ball continually coming out of the 50 pocket and with a huge left hand roll all over which caught everyone out all night. All games could have gone either way. Keith in his first against Terry had the break 4 times and never managed to get past the 1-up!
