Albion C 3-2 Hollingbury A **J.Brackenridge 6910 - 1260 B.Bartrum - Jean off early and then it got very scrappy before Jean made sure C.Tupper 6170 - 2160 D.Bartrum** - Dave off early, Tupps on very good break of nearly 5k when leaving ball awkward, fortune favoured the oldies when it hit 30 hole and whipped out to just flick the ball, break kept leg over M.Knight 3480 - 7110 J.Whittle** - Excellent opening break of 6.2k from James in just over 9 minutes. I set about the chase but missed to give him a fully deserved win, no longer a "shock" **N.Senior 13920 - 1250 D.Dawson - Nige off on 5k, Doug had a chance as he got the balls back pretty much straight away, on missing he didn't get another M.Baden 3290 - 5010 C.Green** - Plenty of breaks for the Rev good enough in this one as Michelle didn't get them back until it was too late All to play for in the second leg which is being played next Tuesday 30th May at the Blue Anchor - hoping not to draw James

Second Leg played at Blue Anchor last night:- Hollingbury A 2-3 Albion C **Doug 4140 - 1760 Jean - Doug's opening break pretty much sealed this one, both had problems with the one-up after that James 5310 - 470 Matt** - I lost my opening break with one of many pegs I managed in the 18 minutes. James taking advantage in his 3 breaks Brian 2560 - 3940 Tupps** - Nip and tuck the whole way this one but Tupps made a vital 2k break near the end **Dave 3270 - 4190 Nigel - Dave was off early another who put his one-up behind, Nige found the table no easier than anyone else, but 3 breaks enough Colin 900 - 4310 Michelle** - Fortunately our top performer was drawn last. Good opening break meant the Chellster dominated from the start Very pleased to have scrambled over the line with a 6-4 aggregate win against tough and competitive opponents. Certainly leg 3 was a vital leg with Tupps coming back strongly to beat Brian. Dave showed in leg 4 after Nigel had touched up, the only person really able to get the one-up right on a fairly consistent basis. Luckily Michelle was on top form in the last leg, so we avoided the possibility of being "Whittled" in the 11th leg Table had everyone scratching their heads at times, me especially as at one point trying a straight pot on the left hand 50, the cue ball nowhere near the 50 but straight through the white peg Thanks to our opponents for two good matches and well done team on progressing to the next round

A good win for the home team after the draw went in our favour on the night. Excellent opening break from Geoff to give Ian only a slight chance, Ian played the table out in a high quality first game. 1-0 Chocie opened with just over 6k in the second game, Jim got the balls back but broke down on 2k before he made sure with another 5.5k break towards the end. 2-0 Gerry opened with 5k, no luck for Kev and Gerry then had another 5k plus break before finishing the game off. 2-1 Gareth started well but then "lost" the split shot for quite a while but managed to keep the break going and touched on 10,360 to clinch the match, KT conceded immediately. 3-1 Martin lost his opening break and although he was first to get it back he never settled, I eventually managed to get the break back and made enough. 4-1 High breaks - Geoff 9,520 and Gareth 10,360. A nice spread of sarnies provided by the Albion, nice to see Tupps and Silent there as well.

Stuart off early putting one up behind, Pete did the same and first to get them back and left one up short, Stuart did the same, Pete a couple of breaks to win it but Stuart had chances but never settled. Rick off early, and another to not really settle on the table, Rob built a lead with 3 breaks to secure the win. Game 4 was played 3rd as both Steve and Iain were delayed. Lee opened with 1.5k, I got them back left the one up short, I then got 2k, Lee got another 2.5k, I then got them back and settled to make a winning break coming off as the bar dropped. Game 3 Mal off early and then both he and Steve struggled and with no luck Mal never got the break back but was in the lead as the bar approached, Steve made a very good clearance to leave enough time to come away with the win. Steve opened with 1.5k, Iain was first to get them back after a fair time at the top end, but pegged when just taking the lead, Steve got them back and added enough to make sure. So a slender 3-2 lead for us to take into the home leg tonight, a good night at the Roffey with plenty of friendly banter and in truth us making the table look harder than it was, although the home team did say it was trickier than usual. Thanks to the club for providing Pizza and hosting us. Look forward to tonights encounter.

Another good evening with the Roffey order of play game 1, game 3, game 2, game 4 and game 5, due to 2 Roffey players having to arrive late. Fair to say like the 1st leg plenty of chances for all in every game, and we took our chances and had the run of the balls, thanks to the Albion for the spread of chicken and chips.

An unexpected scoreline but a great result for the visitors who had the run of the balls in the first couple of legs. The usual nice spread of sarnies and the table playing well when you worked it out. High breaks - Jim (10,510), Dave (8,950) and Gareth (8,410) Date for second leg set for Thursday 13th July which was the earliest date that Swan Nomads are available due to holidays.

Not as straight forward as the scores above would perhaps suggest..... Gareth pegged his 17.2k opener when on target for a big 20k break and gave Neil the break back, Neil off on just over 1.2k but Gareth couldn't get the balls back. 0-1 Nick missed his first one up, Geoff got the balls back but broke down on 1k, Nick made a good 5.7k break before Geoff finished the game off to take the win. 1-1 Gary off on just under 2.5k, Jim got the balls back second visit and ran the table out with a lovely 17,540 break. 2-1 I missed on just under 2k, Paul got the balls back and made his score, I touched just after the bar had dropped. 3-1 Roger lost his opening 4k break but was first to get them back, Henry got them back towards the end of the match and took the win. 4-1 Enjoyable evening, plenty of spectators there and a good atmosphere in the Albion with 2 matches taking place.
