Bar billiards returns to the Swan (the last time it hosted League matches was in the 1980's): www.facebook.com/groups/96398761125/THE SWAN, WEST GREEN, CRAWLEY, WEST SUSSEX RH11 7AY The Silver Fox first alerted me to this one, according to him the landlord would very much favour having a team in the league.

Rod Tarratt informed us at our AGM that Punch Taverns have softened their attitude towards bar billiards and are now encouraging their houses to take tables. Hence the recent activity. He told me today that another one will shortly be installed in the Full New Moon, Southgate (within the next couple of weeks). Maybe we will witness a whole new generation of young players if the game is able to take off in Crawley.

Following Rod's tip-off Margo and I sounded out this new venue at lunchtime today: newmooncrawley.co.uk/NEW MOON, BRIGHTON ROAD, SOUTHGATE, CRAWLEY RH10 6SX Pub has a lot going for it: Large and spacious (4 pool tables at other end of the bar); Friendly bar staff; Drink prices reasonable; Conveniently placed near to the A23 (closest pub to CFC); Really nice decor. Live music venue. The table: nicely set up, easy to score well on. Reasonable time (18 mins) for your £2 worth. Has regular use by youngsters from the Pool teams. They would be otherwise occupied on Wednesdays, but may be persuaded to field a team in the Tuesday league, although some tuition would be beneficial and certainly welcomed. A big thumbs up from us, and we took the liberty of leaving an entry form with the landlord Sean.

"Well, that didn't last long" - the Swan has Gone already. Rod informs me thus:
Margo and I had paid the Swan a visit a couple of weeks ago, but didn't lodge our report on here as it would have been less than complimentary !

An update on the New Moon from Wednesday just gone: Table continues to be popular, especially with youngsters (there were a cluster of enthusuastic 12-y-olds playing on it). No progress on a league team though, the licensee has recently taken on another pub (in Hayling Island) which has had great demands on his time. Left it that they will contact Bev at Windmill if they fancy a friendly bar billiards involving the pool teams.
