These are the remaining games to be played in division 3/4. Hard copies posted, if you talk with anyone please let them know where they are this week in case paperwork is late. Thanks. Note: Gladiators and Fairmile do not put on food.

If those pubs/clubs are not providing food, then i do not think they should be given the games to play. Why should they get all the revenue and not give anything back ?
I feel strongly about this, so what do i do to get this overturned as i am unwilling to go all the way to the fairmile and spend my money there if they are unwilling to provide a little bit of food.

Mark, I am sorry you feel this way but most leagues represented on this forum/site will probably agree, it is not the responsibility of the league to ensure that food is provided at any venue at a league match or competition. Some pubs charge for food, others ask you to run a card to pay for it, others like the Gladiators for example, food is provided by the captains or a player, ask Richard Stowe or Bob Pincombe. I agree that given that the amount of money a pub takes over the bar then they could do more, but that is down to the individual pub, it's landlord or staff available to do it. We put games on all tables that are registered for the league and will not differentiate between pubs that provide food or not. It is down to competing teams on whether they are prepared to pay what a pub asks or choose not to get food, or alternatively take your own ! League rules do not state food must be provided on a game night, the same as it does not state that if you lose your game then you have to buy an opponent a drink, that again is down to the individual to do so if they wish.

Agree with everything Kevin says about food, and it would be an impossible task to include it in the rules that venues must supply food as we cannot alienate venues that are left.
It is nice to receive a good spread, but surely we go out to enjoy the game and the company not to be fed.

We put games on all tables that are registered for the league and will not differentiate between pubs that provide food or not. It is hard enough to get neutral venues for matches without having to worry about venues that provide or do not provide food.

:( What happened to the Marlboro Club and the Fairmile bar billiard teams. Neither of them turned up to play their match at the Gladiator Club last night (Monday) 2/4/2007. :( Also the comment about the availability of food at the Glads, if you ring and ask with a weeks notice I'm assured that some arrangement could be made, either run a football card, or have a whip round between the teams to pay for it, we could supply sandwiches, cheese and pickles with french stick & butter or hot pasties, roast spuds and bangers for £10. Not bad £1 a head approx. ;D The reason you have to pay is because it comes out of my own pocket.

Few pubs/clubs put on food without running a card or paying for it, the comment was that it would have to be arranged with the club through you or maybe Bob.
Both teams struggling for teams last night, Charlie has been ill for a week or two, plus other players have flu I think. They tried ringing the club but no answer, they rang me and I tried with same result Dick so don't know what the problem was ! Ringing with no answer basically.

??? I'll get that looked into, the phone thing, I don't think there is anyone at the club until about 6.30pm. There is a committee meeting at the Glads this Thursday, I will bring up the question of an answer phone.

I attended the Gladiators Club committee meeting last night (Thursday) and asked why the answer phone was not working, and we found it to be full, :-[ I have requested that the answer phone is to be listened to and emptied each evening. I can only apologize to anyone who has tried to get in touch with the club, but should be better from now on. :)

Cheers Dick, explains why we could not inform the Glads of the problem that night, hopefully all will be ok from now.
