Matches to be played on Monday 21st August.....
Main Final Albion Fishersgate 2 v 4 Mid-Sussex Conservative Club - at County Oak
Plate Final County Oak 3 v 3 Laughing Fish - at Blacksmiths - Laughing Fish won on aggregate
To decide order of play:- A coin is tossed and the winner is able to choose to have 1, 3 and 5 or 2, 4 and 6. The team with the break in each game is to name their player(s) first
In the event of a draw, the winner will be the team that has scored the highest number of total points
I would like to thank in advance Jean and Alan for booking the County Oak and making the table as ready as possible for play. Also to Colin for making the arrangements at Blacksmiths....thanks guys
Good luck everyone

Congratulations to the Laughing Fish on winning the Plate Final tonight. At 2-0 up we looked to be cruising but then the wheels fell off big style (not for the first time) as Henry took control of the match. He made a 5k break in leg 3 which contained a liquorice allsorts of shots but then a brilliant 10.5k in the sixth leg after he had been first to get them back gave the Fish the win on aggregate. The 4th leg was critical with Andy going off with nearly 2k and Michelle not getting them back until very near the end, going well in the chase but sadly for us running out of time. Here are the scores:- **Matt 6800 - 0 Jamie Jack 1070 - 0 Jim** **Nigel 3440 - 7800 H Michelle 2490 - 3140 Andy** **Nigel/Michelle 1400 - 970 Andy/Jim Jack/Matt 530 - 12670 H** Total 15,730 - 24,580 Total Friendly evening in good company with plenty of good natured banter

Table very tricky, only Neil and Rick really got hold of it. Many thanks to the County Oak for a lovely curry and french bread. Congratulations to MSCC an as Ros says thanks to our hosts the County Oak. Thank you to Matt for running the competition, and hope we go ahead again next year. Thanks to my team for a great summer, plenty of laughs, and a good effort to make the final, just the MSCC took their chances well. More meat on the bones. Ian left them both up on his first break shot and neither he or Nick could get the balls back, Nick kept his score better than Ian. Ian unfortunately losing breaks of 500, 400 and 300, both players found pegs with the balls flying back off the back cushion. Paul of early, again neither he or Dave could get the break back, Dave built a slender lead, but Paul on the table at the crucial time, two balls left, one right behind the 10 hole and Paul needed 130 to win, did well to hit the ball with his shot and object ball went I the 20, and cue ball ( being the red ) went into the 100 to take the spoils. Rick opened with 1500 the highest break of the night so far, Ros got them back and got 1k but left the one up short, Rick got them back built the lead and held it, game on. Neil opened with 1.5k, TJ balls back left both short on 3rd break shot, Neil built winning lead, TJ did get them back again but no time and left 50/100 split with both balls teetering on the edge of the pocket, trying to reduce the average scores. Dave off leaving first one up short, Rick first to get the back, good 4.8k break, and added more later on, we are now ahead on aggregate score but 3-2 down. Neil opened with nearly 5k, Ian and Tony could not get the balls back until too late. Well deserved win for the MSCC. Plenty of friendly banter, plenty of pegs, some good shots and some run of the balls for both sides, Neil and Rick the only two to really settle on the table.

Tommo think that should be Lewes summer off the spot. It's not a Sussex competition

Tommo think that should be Lewes summer off the spot. It's not a Sussex competition Blame Silent ! Competition was started off eight years ago by Henry Brooks with a mixture of Lewes and Mid Sussex teams. I've always referred to it as the "East Sussex Summer Off-the-Spot" but if you look at Silent's blurb, he now calls it the Sussex.......... I'm trying to do people a service here, keeping a history going, but agree that it would be better named the Lewes and be featured on their website.

Doesn't really matter what it's called. It's always been an independent comp and it was actually started by my dad. I took over running it after a couple of years. It's open to all teams in the area but doesn't have a link to any one particular league
